Background

The Caerlow Trust (“the Trust”) is a family-led discretionary grant-making trust, governed by four trustees (the Board) that aims to alleviate poverty-related suffering in the United Kingdom.

The Trust’s operating principles are rooted in the basic belief that everyone deserves to have access to sufficient resources such that they are not concerned with day-to-day survival. It aims to achieve this by making grants targeting three main pillars of work: hunger, homelessness, and addiction.

Based in London, the Trust’s founders hope to make significant and meaningful change in the social landscape of London but also to grow to have a nationwide focus over time. The Grants Manager will join our small but expanding team at an exciting time, having an important part to play in turning this ambition into reality.

Role overview and purpose

The Grants Manager will provide a range of services that will be key to the Trust’s grant management cycle including research,  assessment, database management and development, reporting and evaluation. They will be the key contact for a portfolio of grant applicants and recipients, to support them throughout their relationship with the Trust.

Key responsibilities

Grants Management:

· Managing a portfolio of grants throughout the entire grant cycle including assessment, award, support, monitoring and learning

· Act as the key contact for grant applicants and recipients, developing positive and supportive working relationships

· Organising and holding meetings with grantees, including taking notes and following up on actions

· Administrative tasks relating to grants, including correspondence, drafting and issuing agreements, tracking of applications, reports and payments

· Undertaking scoping work and research about organisations that may be appropriate for funding

· Reviewing grant applications, undertaking assessments and completing due diligence checks

· Drafting summaries and papers to support Trustees to make informed decisions  

· Reviewing grantee reports to evaluate progress and ensure compliance with any grant conditions

· Support budget management, financial reporting, cashflow monitoring and compliance with charity regulations in relation to grants

· Provide project management for new activities or grant programmes

· Working with colleagues and grantees to develop the Trust’s impact reporting capabilities

Database and system management

· Support the development and maintenance of our systems and grant management database, Beacon

· Ensure all data is accurate, kept up to date and retained in line with data protection regulations

· Provide support and guidance to grant applicants to access and use the grant application portal

· Provide support and guidance to Trustees and other external evaluators to use Beacon portal

Other responsibilities

· To represent the Trust at external events

· To support ongoing improvement in the context of grant-making and organisational development

· To role model desired behaviours in line with the Trust’s values

· Provide other ad hoc support to the Director as needed

Key internal relationships and reporting lines

· Receives line management and development from the Director

· Works closely with other colleagues and volunteers as part of an small effective team

This role doesn’t currently have any line management responsibilities but it is likely to in the future as the Trust grows.

Person specification

Knowledge and experience:

· Knowledge and understanding of the issues being supported by the Trust, developed through work or study in a relevant field or through lived experience

· Knowledge of charity finance, governance best practice, impact measurement and evaluation

· Experience of the grant management cycle

· High level of literacy and numeracy, including experience of handling and analysing qualitative and quantitative data

· High level of IT literacy with experience of working with MS365 applications and CRM databases

· Experience of liaising with a range of different stakeholders

Events & Fundraising Manager (Maternity Cover)
Hours: 28 - 31 per week (0.7 - 0.8 FTE)
Salary: £38,760 - £41,715 per annum, pro-rata (Salary dependent on skills, experience and knowledge)

About the Role and the Team

The Development Team generate funds to enable everyone experiencing a mental health issue to get both support and respect. We fundraise from corporates, major donors, trusts, events and in the community as well as providing paid-for workplace wellbeing training and consultancy services. The Events and Fundraising Manager is one of four key Manager roles in the Development Team, responsible for providing excellent stewardship for our supporters, donors and sponsors, whilst generating six-figure income targets that underpin the charity’s impact.

This role works closely with the other fundraising colleagues, Volunteer, Communications, and Finance teams, to deliver unrestricted income, and growing a loyal supporter base across an annual calendar of exciting events and opportunities

About You

Principal responsibilities and duties

Budget Management

• With the Head of Comms & Individual Giving, set annual budgets and programmes of activity, actively monitoring performance against these and adapting approach as necessary
• Plan, monitor and control expenditure as appropriate and manage income against set budget, KPIs; providing regular revised projections and narrative for the Senior Leadership Team and trustees as required
• Analyse individual giving performance, reporting as required and using the results to improve practice, including evaluation of cost effectiveness and sustainability

Communicating and building relationships

• Cultivate and steward meaningful relationships with individual donors to maintain their engagement and support and ensure a stable and growing donor base
• Create compelling fundraising materials and appeals targeted at individual donors
• Provide excellent donor stewardship through timely acknowledgement of gifts, personalised communication and recognition efforts.
• Develop and deliver a plan of regular communications for recurring givers and high-value donors
• Represent the charity at Willow or third-party events, to promote fundraising products and talk to potential supporters about ways they can get involved
• Manage relationships with suppliers, agencies and partners

Programme Development

• Conduct regular reviews of income streams and put recommendations into action
• Work with other members of the fundraising team to develop a successful stewardship programme across all supporter types
• Develop and execute strategies to solicit and secure donations from individual donors across various online and offline channels
• Promote and manage our in-memory products, enabling donors to remember their loved ones whilst supporting Willow
• Develop a regular giving programme, executing strategies to acquire, retain, and upgrade individual donors
• Grow our legacy programme and increase the number of people leaving a gift to Willow
• Develop our digital fundraising programme, bringing more supporters online

Data management

• Utilise the charity database (RE NXT) to track donor interactions, manage gift processing and generate reports for analysis and decision making
• Work with the Finance Team, Data & Insight Officer and Supporter Care Officer to ensure accurate data recording
• Use data to identify areas of prospective growth and build plans to deliver these
• Adopt a data-led fundraising approach, segmenting data and using supporter journeys to maintain engagement and speak to people about the right products for them
• Monitor donor attrition and implement measures to mitigate disengagement

Additional

• Build excellent working relationships with colleagues across the organisation, creating processes that support efficiencies and collaborative working
• Work with office volunteers to ensure administrative or support tasks are completed in a timely manner
• Keep up to date on developments and trends in fundraising and the charitable sector, and apply these learnings to improve our offering

Person Specification

Experience

• Experience working in individual giving fundraising with an excellent working knowledge of donor recruitment, retention and development
• Experience of designing supporter journeys that engage, retain, and inspire donors
• Experience of preparing and managing annual plans and budgets
• Proven project management experience, including design, print and mailing processes
• Experience of working with a CRM system (we use RE NXT) and digital fundraising tools
• Experienced in using data and insight to inform decisions and optimise activity

Knowledge

• Knowledge of fundraising laws and regulations in relation to data protection and compliance

We are seeking a Finance Officer with excellent numerical skills and attention to detail, and good inter-personal skills to join our friendly Finance Team at Yeldall Manor. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for helping others to join a Christian organisation dedicated to supporting men in their journey of recovery from addiction to drugs or alcohol.

As Finance Officer, you will support and deputise for the Finance Manager in all aspects of the finance role including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, bank and cash reconciliation and the processing of donations (please see the Job Description for more details). You will also support our residents in the management of their money and benefits and accompany them to relevant appointments. A driver’s licence is essential for this role.

You will have relevant accounting/bookkeeping qualifications e.g. AAT Technician Level and have experience of financial management, ideally in the not-for-profit sector. You will be a quick learner, able to manage multiple priorities and enjoy working as part of a small team that has a real impact upon people’s lives.

Yeldall Manor is a Christian organisation, and this role requires a committed Christian faith to meet the occupational requirements (in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010). We ask all staff to engage with and support our residents in their recovery journey, offering encouragement in both practical and spiritual matters.

This is a full-time, permanent position (40 hours per week) although 32 hours would be considered for the right person. You will work as part of a small, friendly team within the Finance & Fund-Raising office, located in a beautiful rural setting outside Reading. Free lunch is provided daily with staff and residents. Remote working is not applicable for this post.

You will assist the Shop Manager in the recruitment, support and development of a strong community focused shop team and empower them to maximise Shelter's income. Representing Shelter in your local community, ensuring that you and your team share your knowledge of Shelter's cause with customers, volunteers, donors and potential Shelter clients will also be important aspects of the role.

You will always ensure a safe, clean, bright and happy environment for your team to work in and for your customers to shop in, in turn attracting potential donors and volunteers.

As The Grand Appeal continues to grow in scale, complexity and long-term investment commitments, we are creating a new Group Financial Controller role to strengthen financial leadership across the organisation and its subsidiary activities. This is a pivotal role at the heart of the charity. The successful candidate will ensure that the organisation’s financial systems, commitments and reporting remain robust, transparent and capable of supporting ambitious future plans - from major capital projects to long-term programme investment. Working closely with senior leadership and external advisers, the Group Financial Controller will help ensure that donor funds are stewarded responsibly and that the charity remains financially resilient as it evolves and grows. Your role

The People and Culture Lead will be working closely with the Head of People and Culture to ensure recruitment, onboarding, employee reward, employment relations, learning and development and projects serve the long-term goals of CMS.

You are responsible for delivering professional HR service that supports our operations, vision and strategy. This applies specifically to UK contracted staff (some of whom work overseas) and providing support for volunteers (including CMS Trustees) and consultants.

The People and Culture Lead role (one-year, fixed term contract, three days per week) will have proven HR experience at a business partner or officer level which includes experience in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations and policy (and will ideally hold CIPD Level 5 accreditation).  The successful candidate will have a good understanding of UK employment law and best HR practice.

About the role

As News and Media Manager, you will lead a hard-working and experienced team of media experts to bring to life Crisis’ work, using print, digital and broadcast journalism to advocate for the solutions needed to tackle homelessness and inspire the public, businesses and politicians to join our mission to end homelessness for good. You will oversee the development and delivery of high-profile media and communications campaigns, including our annual Christmas appeal, and help to build our brand.

About you

You will have significant experience of working in a challenging, fast-paced news and media environment to secure high-profile coverage. You will also have experience of leading and managing individuals or teams and motivating people to achieve objectives and overcome setbacks. The ability to navigate competing priorities and influence senior internal and external stakeholders is essential.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge and experience of working with the media to help secure policy change at a national government level, demonstrate ability to secure high profile consumer media to support income generation and have proven experience when it comes to handling reputational risk. You will also have exceptional news sense, with the ability to take a creative approach when seeking out new media opportunities.
