Major donor fundraising, however, is still developing, presenting significant untapped potential and an exciting opportunity to help build a structured and sustainable philanthropy programme.

Operation Smile UK is now seeking a Philanthropy Manager to help grow major donor fundraising, building new philanthropic relationships and expanding support from HNWIs.

As Philanthropy Manager, you will:

• Develop and implement Operation Smile UK’s major donor strategy alongside the Director of Partnerships
• Identify and cultivate new major donor prospects through research, networking (internally and externally) and peer-to-peer introductions through supporters and board members
• Steward a small but warm portfolio of existing donors while focusing primarily on developing new prospects, delivering full lifecycle stewardship from cultivation through to long-term relationship management
• Develop compelling restricted funding propositions aligned with programmes, including geographically or thematically focused projects
• Lead cultivation activity including donor meetings, proposals, events and programme visits
• Represent Operation Smile UK confidently with major donors, prospects and senior stakeholders
• Contribute to the continued development of philanthropy fundraising within the wider Partnerships team
• Occasionally travel internationally to visit programmes and accompany donors, providing first-hand insight into Operation Smile’s impact

Essential skills and experience:

• Experience in major donor fundraising with a track record of securing five-figure+ gifts from HNWIs
• Experience managing the full lifecycle of major donor fundraising, from prospecting and cultivation through to solicitation and stewardship
• Strong prospect research and pipeline development skills, including identifying and developing new donor relationships from cold
• Experience and confidence in building rapport and trust with prospective major donors
• Experience engaging trustees, senior volunteers and colleagues in fundraising and leveraging networks for peer-to-peer introductions
• Confidence and credibility when representing an organisation to HNWIs and senior stakeholders
• Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to champion major donor fundraising in a collaborative and thoughtful way across the organisation
• A proactive, self-starting approach and the ability to identify and develop opportunities within a growing fundraising programme

Desirable:

• Experience in international development or global health fundraising
• Experience helping to develop a major donor programme from a low base or early stage

The role
Drive is a high risk / high harm domestic abuse perpetration intervention. Its sole aim is to reduce the risk posed by those using high levels of harm towards family members and / or (ex) partners. This is achieved via disruption, diversion and direct behaviour change work, where safe to do so, within a multi-agency framework.

The Case Manager will strive to work one-to-one with perpetrators who have been identified as high risk to pro-actively secure engagement, influence attitudinal and behavioural change and connect with complementary services. To do this, the Case Manager will work with local agencies to design a co-ordinated, strategic individual intervention plan to address identified needs and risks and promote understanding of the impact of abusive behaviours. However, it may not always be safe or possible to meet with the perpetrator. Equally as vital to risk reduction efforts is analysis of presenting information to identify ways to disrupt their abusive behaviour, alongside closeknit multiagency working to implement actions.

Throughout all intervention the Drive Case Manager will work closely with the local IDVA service to review risk, develop safety plans and improve outcomes for all parties involved.

The Case Manager will be responsible for delivering outcomes, working typically for up to 12 months to achieve behaviour change with each Service User.

About you

You’ll have a deep understanding of the nature of domestic abuse and its effects on clients and children, as well as the reasons behind abusive behaviours towards intimate partners.

Your knowledge extends to the range of statutory and voluntary agencies that clients and their children may encounter, and you are aware of the impact of domestic abuse on children and parenting, including the additional needs of clients from BMER communities.

You will have experience in working with clients on issues of domestic abuse, providing one-to-one and group support and advice, managing your own workload and administration, and assessing the risk and safety of your clients and those connected to your client.  You will have handled safeguarding disclosures and referrals, and you communicate clearly with a range of people both over the telephone and in person.

You will be organised, able to use your initiative, and work effectively as part of a multi-service team. Your administrative skills are strong, and you are adept at using a computer to maintain effective systems.

Flexible and willing to work evenings, you can travel independently. Additionally, you will understand trauma-informed practices, risk mitigation, and safeguarding. Experience liaising with social workers and other professionals, and in related areas such as substance misuse, child protection, or family support, is desirable.

Fluency in an additional language and skills in group work are also advantageous. You stay updated with best practices and new initiatives.

The Role

As our Head of Fundraising & Business Development, you will lead efforts to secure and diversify funding, building a sustainable resource base to support our global mission.

Leading the Fundraising and Business Development Team, you will drive the implementation of our resource mobilisation strategy, focusing on increasing non-ODA income and expanding flexible and programmatic funding.

Job Description

The Listening Place (TLP) is an award-winning charity providing face-to-face, compassionate and non-judgemental support for people who feel that life is no longer worth living.  Since opening our first site in Pimlico in 2016, we have grown to four sites and our service is delivered by over 850 active volunteers. 
 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, dedicated team and play a vital role in helping TLP to grow and support more people struggling with suicidal feelings. You will manage two key growth areas in fundraising: community and corporate. By crafting exciting partnership proposals and delivering high-quality events, you will help TLP build on its fundraising success in these areas.  You will use your relationship management skills to keep donors not just satisfied but motivated to support TLP.

Scope and purpose

The Corporate and Community Fundraising Manager will be the second most senior position in the fundraising team and will lead on the development of TLP’s community and corporate fundraising streams. Having seen significant growth over the past five years, from circa £50k per annum, to more than £400k, the post holder will oversee the continued development of these fundraising streams. The post holder will achieve a strong return on investment by proactively identifying new leads, effectively stewarding supporter relationships and providing an engaging and exciting ways for individuals to support The Listening Place. As a senior member of the fundraising team, the post holder will also build a successful, committed team, driving performance and contributing to the strategic direction of TLP’s fundraising function. 
 

Duties and responsibilities

1. Deliver the continued growth of corporate and community fundraising at TLP (combined £475k target in 2026/27) in line with investment in this area to help ease the pressure on major donor and trust fundraising.
2. Generate new corporate and community fundraising leads by mapping TLP’s volunteer and supporter networks as well as exploring cold leads which align with TLP’s mission and vision.
3. Develop engaging, inspiring materials to help secure new corporate leads including presentations, brochures and video.
4. Represent TLP externally at corporate and community events, networking opportunities, and sector forums to raise awareness and build strategic partnerships. 
5. Deliver and oversee excellent stewardship with all corporate and community supporters, establishing effective, long-lasting relationships with supporters and stakeholders including a creative approach to thanking supporters.
6. Develop materials and build a personal brand which inspires volunteers to participate in TLP events or to run their own fundraisers.   
7. Manage an exciting and engaging roster of annual events for volunteers and corporate fundraisers to participate in, including creating new events based on supporter data, as well as looking for ways to improve existing events and phasing out events where necessary.
8. Monitor and evaluate fundraising performance, using data and supporter feedback to refine strategies, improve engagement, and encourage growth. 
9. Work closely with the Head of Fundraising and Communications to forecast income in community and corporate fundraising as well as setting budgets that enable us to deliver on ambitious targets whilst still delivering a competitive return on investment. 
10. Establish effective relationships across the staff and volunteer network which creates a culture that supports fundraising within TLP whilst also enabling volunteers to focus on TLP’s core mission and vision.
11. Build a dependable, detail-oriented team to support the administrative management of corporate, community and individual giving at The Listening Place whilst encouraging their development as TLP fundraisers in their own right.

Essential requirements 

• Self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills able to translate TLP’s model into compelling materials and pitches. 
• Strong interpersonal skills - a relationship builder with a flexible, entrepreneurial approach, the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with donors, volunteers and internal stakeholders.
• Highly organised - excellent time management skills, the ability to prioritise own workload and multi task to meet targets and deliver events.
• Good understanding of event management including problem solving skills and an ability to adapt quickly when encountering obstacles.
• A strategic mindset, with the ability to identify trends, plan ahead and build clear plans based on data.
• Computer literate - familiar with common Office programmes and fundraising databases.

Key areas of responsibility

• Manage and deliver Museum capital construction projects according to best practice project management standards, the RIBA Plan of Work, and using the Museum's Project Management methodology, from inception to completion and final handover to the Client.
• Develop, manage and coordinate internal and external project stakeholder teams in support of projects.
• Procure the services of, liaise with and/or manage external consultants and suppliers ensuring that proposed procurement strategies satisfy the Museum procurement rules.
• Manage and coordinator public facing projects ensuring that the development of the design and interpretive aspects of the project are fully integrated into the rest of the project development process.
• Manage the evaluation, selection and use of innovative technologies including energy saving and sustainable measure in support of nominated projects.
• Oversee the application of VFM techniques, assisting with their review and development.
• Provide information and assist in the preparation of budgets and administer project finances.

About you

• PRINCE2 or similar project management qualification ideally with Membership of (or working towards) a Built Environment Professional Body or Association.
• Proven experience delivering capital or construction projects within a public institution or similar large, complex organisation.
• Demonstrable procurement and contract management experience, ideally within a museum or heritage organisation.
• Strong track record of budget management and resource planning.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
• Experience of integrating inputs to the projects across internal client departments, stakeholders, third party service providers, external designers etc.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills

Purpose of Role

The Portfolio Manager plays a key role in the success of Comic Relief’s team responsible for grants that address the effects of poverty. This role is focused on food insecurity in the UK.

The Portfolio Manager will hold direct responsibility for new Comic Relief grant making and ongoing grant management in the UK, ensuring excellent grant making practice.

The Portfolio Manager will collaborate with other teams in the funding department and across the wider organisation to support Comic Relief’s overall objectives, including income generation.

This role sits in a team that also focuses on areas such as homelessness, early childhood development, maternal and child health, and forced migration.

Key responsibilities:

Grant making and ongoing grant management

· Manage new grant making, including working with colleagues to design funding opportunities, assessing funded partners, designing appropriate ongoing support mechanisms, and working with learning colleagues in the Funding Team on appropriate data collection

· Manage assigned funding portfolios and relationships with funded partners, ensuring that the portfolio is managed in a timely and responsive way, using Comic Relief’s (CR’s) systems and processes.

· Coordinate with other colleagues across the different teams in the funding department to ensure effective and efficient ways of working, and fruitful collaboration and learning across different funded issues and areas.

· Manage all ongoing requirements, such as narrative, financial and risk reporting, collaborating across the funding team and wider Comic Relief as appropriate.

· Work with the Assurance and Finance teams to ensure ongoing compliance across the portfolio with legal requirements, our grant conditions, reporting requirements and best practice.

· Collaborate with Partnerships colleagues to manage donor reporting and other information needs for external and internal use, such as information about our funded work and our partners.

Cross organisation and sector collaboration

· Support resource mobilisation partnerships through collaborative and supportive working with Comic Relief’s communications, fundraising and partnership teams.

· Work with the Partnerships Team to support strong relationships with existing and potential co-funding partners, including corporates and/or trusts, foundations and institutions, and support proposal development, reporting and other requirements.

About this role

Our Global Programmes Department (GPD) works on an innovative partnership model to deliver our mission to transform the welfare of working animals in a world where animals, people and the environment are respected and thrive. 

This exciting role will join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to support an ambitious work plan by scoping, defining and advancing key new project areas and strategic initiatives. The Special Projects Manager will work closely with our international partners and the wider organisation and will report to our Head of Programmes.

The successful candidate for this role will work on a diverse and exciting range of projects. The projects will seek to expand our impact through developing innovative approaches to achieving sustainable improvements in working animal welfare. These might include: 

• exploring options for social business models, and assessing how they can be best applied to animal welfare in low-income settings

• country-specific analysis on specific challenges to working animal welfare in complex situations. 

The Special Projects Manager will scope and analyse different project areas, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and commissioning and overseeing subject matter experts, as needed, to progress different areas.

This role would suit an experienced, innovative and creative project manager who enjoys strategic analysis of complex scenarios with different stakeholders, interests and actors.
