Job Title: Night Recovery Worker

Location: Based within Bedfordshire. We are pleased to confirm that step free access is available for this service. The building is approximately a 10 minute walk from Bedford Station.

Salary: £26,200

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday, working 12.5 hour shifts on a rota 21:30 to 08:30. You may be required to work outside these hours as well as bank holidays in line with the needs of the residents and service.

About the Role

We're hiring a Night Recovery Worker to join our team in Bedfordshire and help deliver our new mental health step down service, opening in April 2026. This is an 11 bedded, community based mental health crisis and step down service offering short stay, trauma informed support and psychologically informed alternative to hospital admission and facilities, forming part of the wider Urgent and Emergency Care pathway.

The service supports people at risk of admission who can be safely supported in the community, helping them overcome personal barriers, achieve their goals and access a range of opportunities, including education, community involvement and skill development. In this role, you will provide person centred, psychologically informed support, contribute to rehabilitation and reintegration and ensure the safe and effective running of the night service. You will play a vital role in admission avoidance, flow and discharge, supporting residents to rebuild their lives while maintaining quality, consistency, and contractual outcomes within a trauma and psychologically informed environment.

Some key responsibilities include: 

• Being the main point of contact for our residents, helping to create and update their support and risk plans; Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents at all times
• Work collaboratively with external teams such as crisis resolution teams, community mental health teams, Inpatient Wards, and other crisis alternatives e.g. Recovery Lounges etc. We are looking to build an effective and knowledgeable staff team to deliver this exciting provision
• Providing safe, 24/7 short-stay support to avoid unnecessary hospital admission
• Supporting with the creation of tailored support plans in collaboration with the wider team and resident.
• Monitoring residents’ wellbeing during the night, carrying out regular welfare checks, and responding to any incidents or emergencies.
• Providing step-down capacity for individuals ready to leave acute wards but not yet ready for independent living.
• Planning activities to engage residents with other people, communities, and opportunities such as movie nights, cooking evenings, and games nights
• Be a valued and reliable member of the team, completing handovers for day colleagues for a seamless service
• Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns when needed.
• Support residents with taking their medication and keep accurate records support plans up to date. Build good working relationships with colleagues and outside agencies.

Macmillan Cancer Supporter are seeking a Head of Philanthropy to lead a transformational change in building deeper, strategic relationships with high-net-worth individuals, trusts and foundations, and in the way Macmillan delivers impact through philanthropy.

Macmillan has spent more than 100 years helping people living with cancer. From the moment someone is diagnosed with cancer, they are there with all the information, support and guidance needed, to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can.

The Head of Philanthropy will lead a fundraising team to deliver a current annual target of £5m, whilst also developing an ambitious strategy to sustainably grow income; the charity’s goal is to build a £20m annual philanthropy programme by 2030. To that aim, the post-holder will be responsible for inspiring and supporting team members through a period of rapid growth and change and to maximise existing networks and build relationships with new supporters. Head of Content and Communications

We’re looking for a creative, imaginative and driven leader to be our Head of Content and Communications while the current post-holder is on maternity leave.

Theos is a Christian think tank which seeks a world in which Christian ideas about human flourishing are drawn upon to answer some of the world’s biggest challenges. We stimulate debate about the place of religion in society, challenging and changing ideas through research, commentary and events.

Position: Head of Content and Communications

Location: London / Hybrid

Hours: Part time, four days a week (30 hours)

Salary: £48,000 to £50,000 per annum FTE (£38,400 - £40000 Pro Rata)

Contract: Maternity cover, 12-month fixed term contract

The Role

This is a rare opportunity to shape how the UK’s leading religion and society think tank tells its story and uses its public voice to have impact. You’ll have a bold and creative vision for our content and communications, leading a committed team to turn the research and big ideas we have about human flourishing into stories, conversations and interventions that go beyond the Westminster bubble. You will be responsible for our diverse communications channels, including our website, digital and social media, and podcasts The Sacred and Reading Our Times.

Playing a key part in the Theos senior leadership team, you’ll be an invaluable voice in steering our vision and strategy. You’ll also blend intellectual curiosity with narrative flair, spotting cultural moments and opportunities, experimenting with types of content, and ensuring Theos is not just part of the debate, but helping to frame it.

About You

We’re looking for a strategic, imaginative communicator with a sharp editorial eye, a feel for public discourse, and a deep interest in how religion continues to shape society.

You will have experience of:

• Creating and implementing a media and communications strategy and desirable experience of contributing to organisational-level strategy
• Gaining cut-through in digital and mainstream media through creative and compelling public engagement activity
• Working in or with mainstream media and through social media channels
• Performance management, motivating, supporting and developing staff
• Networking and building fruitful long-term relationships which deliver organisational objectives

• Retail and trading play a key role in growing income and introducing new audiences to Cats Protection.

What we’re looking for in our Retail Online Hub Manager:

• Experience of managing eBay or other comparable online operations
• Demonstrable learning and experience from functioning in a relevant ecommerce environment
• Previous experience of line managing a team and building a culture of achieving collective goals
• Ability to provide a positive experience for shop team colleagues through effective engagement and management
• A good understanding of the challenges of working in the voluntary sector and specifically charity retail
• Full, valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle

ABOUT THE AVENUES YOUTH PROJECT

The Avenues Youth Project (AYP) is an exceptional West London youth club that guides disadvantaged children and young people to explore and develop new skills, connect with their peers and our trusted staff, and find their confidence. We offer fun and meaningful after-school and holiday activities led by trained youth workers. Our facilities include training kitchen, music recording studio, podcasting studio, arts and craft room, sports hall and classrooms.  

We currently have an active membership of over 1,100 children and young people, and are open 6 days a week, 48 weeks a year. All activities are free-to-access, and we raise the £1.2m we need each year through donations, grants and fundraising.

We are a team of 30 employees of which 18 are variable‑hours youth workers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the HR Manager is a standalone role and will lead on the operational delivery of HR initiatives and will manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle across our youth centre, ensuring the organisation remains an inclusive and supportive employer. 

The HR Manager will also manage HR systems compliance, while supporting strategic projects that embed best practice and innovation across the organisation.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

• Lead recruitment -including drafting job descriptions, conducting interviews, and managing the selection process- onboarding, and offboarding processes. 

• Provide employee relations and employment law specialist advice, including disciplinary, grievances, sickness management, capability and redundancy.

• Develop all HR policies and processes.

• Develop and co-ordinate supervision and appraisal processes.

• Plan and coordinate training opportunities, including tailored HR Workshops for line managers and personal development plans.

• Collaborate with Operations Manager in the implementation of Wellbeing initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with employment law, HR best practices, safeguarding, and GDPR.

• Provide regular reporting on people metrics to various stakeholders as required.

• Manage the approved HR budget.

• Maintain and develop HR systems and data reporting.

• Support payroll accuracy and liaise with Finance.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

• In conjunction with your Line Manager to continuously develop the role to ensure that all tasks are being undertaken in an effective and appropriate manner which meets the strategic aims and objectives of The Avenues. 

• Participate in internal/external meetings as required, and attend training events, conferences, and other functions as necessary. 

• Participate in regular supervision and annual appraisal and help in identifying your own job-related development and training needs. 

• Adhere to all The Avenues’ policies and procedures. 

• Stay abreast of policy and developments in youth work locally and nationally.

• Always undertake your role in a professional manner maintaining a high-quality standard of work and in accordance with our values and role model our Behaviours Framework.

ABOUT YOU 

• CIPD Level 5 minimum or equivalent experience.

• Proven HR experience across the full employee lifecycle.

• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.

• Experience in recruitment and selection, including competency-based interviewing and selection skills. 

• Experience in advising and supporting employee relation matters, including disciplinary, grievances, sickness management, capability and redundancy.

• Strong written skills with ability to draft policies, procedures and reports. 

• Experience with HR systems and data management.

• Excellent communication, coaching and mentoring, influencing, and problem-solving skills.

• A proactive, collaborative approach and ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Experience using MS Word, 365, Excel, PowerPoint.

• A genuine enthusiasm for working for young people, with a strong empathy with the vision, mission and values of The Avenues. 

• Commitment to safeguarding.

Experience in the charity and/or youth work sector is not essential, but desirable.

The role

This maternity cover role offers a meaningful opportunity to help secure the funding that makes our work possible at a pivotal point in Hatch’s journey.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising & Engagement, you will lead the delivery of Trusts & Foundations, Statutory and Major Donor fundraising, while managing our inspiring partners, you will build new income pipelines aligned to Hatch’s pioneering programmes. You will also support the launch and early delivery of our three-year fundraising campaign.

Alongside hands-on fundraising, you will line manage, mentor and develop the Fundraising Manager, helping to build confidence, capability and strong, future-focused fundraising practice.
