Context and purpose of role
At the Ramblers, we are committed to providing our supporters with the very best experience possible, placing the Member and Supporter Experience Team at the heart of our operations. The team acts as the first line of support for members and supporters, responding to enquiries, managing interactions, and deepening engagement with the Ramblers.
This short-term placement provides hands-on experience in delivering excellent supporter service at the Ramblers. The postholder will support the Member and Supporter Experience team in responding to enquiries, maintaining supporter data, and contributing to improvements in the supporter journey.
Key responsibilities

Respond to supporter enquiries via phone, letter, email and social media in a timely and professional manner, and with professionalism, empathy and attention to detail.

The role
We are seeking a creative, agile and ambitious Graphic Designer to lead the visual identity of our flagship educational programme, Topical Talk Headlines.
Working three days a week, this role offers an extraordinary amount of creative freedom. Every week brings a brand-new global news story, and it will be up to you to establish its unique look and feel. From choosing typography and vibrant colour palettes to deciding between illustration and photography, you will have the autonomy to design resources that make complex, intimidating global issues accessible and engaging for young people aged 10-16 around the world.
Reporting to the Director of Programmes and working closely with our experienced in-house Designer, you will be embedded in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will partner with our expert team of ex-teacher content creators to brainstorm, iterate and deliver world-class classroom resources on tight, overlapping deadlines. Department background
The Debt Advice Team at Toynbee Hall provides crucial support to individuals and families struggling with financial burdens. Funded by the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), this team delivers expert guidance and practical solutions to help clients manage and reduce their debt.
Scope of Role
The Traineeship will last for 12 months. This role involves gaining practical experience by observing and participating in interviews to understand clients’ financial problems, researching options, and helping clients make informed decisions. The role includes structured classroom-based learning, supervised practice, and mandatory secondments across partner advice agencies in London.
Key Responsibilities

Hours of Work: Both Full time and part time hours available (21 – 35 hours per week)

About Us
We are Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, dedicated to providing air ambulance and critical care services across Bristol, North Somerset, Bath & North East Somerset, Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and parts of Wiltshire. From volunteers to Specialist Paramedics, from senior Consultants to retail and fundraising staff, we are a team, working to save lives that would otherwise be lost. We seek to continually develop and adapt our activities to meet the needs of local communities, whilst impacting nationally and influencing global pre-hospital care. About You and The Role
At Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, we’re looking for a new Supporter Engagement Assistant to support our regional team. This role focuses on providing excellent stewardship for supporters and former patients across the communities we serve. It also calls for real passion – for our cause, for the people we help, and most importantly, for the people who help us save lives.
We’re looking for someone who is dedicated to doing their best, a person who can work independently but can collaborate within and beyond their team, who has compassion for our supporters and stakeholders and who is curious about exploring new approaches and keen to learn and develop. Whilst having experience of working with a charity would be beneficial, it is not essential. The successful candidate will have great customer service and communication skills as well as the ability to manage and develop projects. This role may suit a career changer who can demonstrate transferable skills.

This role is perfect for an experienced direct and digital marketer passionate about engaging people to support our mission to halve emissions and restore biodiversity. You will support the development of specific one-off donation strategies. You’ll be responsible for the development and implementation of complex fundraising campaigns, designed to inspire new and existing supporters to give one off gifts through a range of channels and products, from email and mailing appeals to digital ads and merchandise.

About you
You will love autonomy and will enjoy working collaboratively across the fundraising department and wider organisation. You’ll already have plenty of marketing experience to bring, and you’ll be able to take a strategic approach to delivery, independently taking on a key area of the direct marketing programme. You’ll be fully responsible for the assessment of the fundraising campaigns that you lead, and you’ll be focused on optimising performance to deliver income to power our fundraising and our campaigns.
