The Active Recovery Project gives adult survivors of abuse the opportunity to take part in community-based activities. Members of Active Recovery can participate in a variety of group activities with others who share or understand their experience and develop peer relationships, resulting in increasing confidence and reduced isolation. The activities are based on ideas from our members and include water-based activities (such as rowing, canoeing, sailing and kayaking), surfing, trips to community spaces and creative sessions (such as arts and crafts). Activities take place every week. Each activity will last approximately 2.5 hours each. Members can attend the group sessions for up to 18 months. 

Job Purpose: 

We are looking for a warm and passionate leader to come and join the Active Recovery Service.

As an Active Recovery Lead, their job will be to develop and deliver the Active Recovery Project in Bristol and in Somerset. Using a trauma-informed approach, the Active Recovery Lead will create and provide a safe and supportive space for clients from The Sexual Violence Alliance organisations (The Southmead Project, SARSAS, Womankind and the Bridge Sarc) to participate in a variety of group activities, with others who share or understand their experience and develop peer relationships, resulting in increasing confidence and reduced isolation. 
 

Principal Tasks:

1. Run two Active Recovery groups a week, with , with the help of the Practitioner.

2. Provide initial trauma-informed assessment phone calls and/or meetings with potential members as part of the registration process for Active Recovery. This includes assessing need, risk and suitability for the service using a trauma-informed approach. 

3. Create safety plans and tailor activity sessions where appropriate after building relationships with members following the initial phone calls.

4. Plan trauma-informed sessions for members, including producing risk assessments for each activity, visiting activity locations and delivering relevant trauma training to activity providers. 

5. Oversee and lead on setting up, delivering and debriefing about activity sessions with members, volunteers and staff. Ensuring members are clear on each session's ground rules and safeguarding processes, using the Member’s Agreement.

6. Provide trauma-informed face-to-face support to members at sessions who may become overwhelmed or require help dealing with flashbacks and dissociation.

7. To support volunteers and staff with safeguarding queries and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed. To be the safeguarding lead at activity sessions, escalating any onward safeguarding referrals and queries to the Southmead Project Designated Safeguarding Lead.

8. Participate in and support the recruitment and induction training of volunteers.

9. Support and line manage a team of volunteers.

10. Develop and maintain an Active Recovery community through email, phone calls, texts and in person.

11. Develop and drive forward the project’s aim to have the members’ voices at the heart of the project.

12. Collaborate with developing outcome processes in line with the Southmead Project and its funders’ requirements.

13. Analyse data and feedback collected through outcomes processes to adapt and constantly improve the planning and delivery of the project sessions.

14. Contribute content for reports as required. 

15. Build and maintain positive relationships with partnership organisations for the project

16. Manage the day to day budget for the project sessions, keeping accurate records to report to the Head of Active Recovery and planning how the budget will be spent across sessions, within guidelines provided by the Head of Active Recovery.

17. Record data accurately and in a timely manner on Oasis.

18. Produce social media and website posts about the project, including producing and editing videos.

19. Attend monthly one-to-one line management meetings with the Head of Active Recovery. 

20. To attend monthly one-to-one clinical supervision with a Supervisor who is approved by the Southmead Project. Supervision is a requirement of this charity as an organisational member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. 

21. To work within the framework, spirit and ethos of the Southmead Project’s Equal Opportunities Policy, and actively engage in promoting the policy within the charity and in all dealings with clients and other agencies.

22. Follow the Southmead Project policies, procedures and professional code of conduct as outlined in the Staff Handbook.

23. All members of staff, paid and unpaid, are required to undergo the   enhanced level of Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Person Specification

ESSENTIAL

• Full drivers licence and access to own transport.

• Professional qualification, such as a Diploma or degree in Counselling or in other relevant fields of work, such as; social work, psychology, mental health, education, support work or similar: or extensive experience in any of these fields.

• A sound understanding of the issues affecting members who have experienced trauma and abuse.

• Experience in managing projects. 

• Excellent administration and organisational skills, including experience of managing sensitive personal information.

• Experience of and confidence in using multiple computer and case management systems. 

• At least 2 years’ experience of delivering groups in the community, preferably activity based.

• At least 1 year’s experience of providing face-to-face support for survivors of abuse. 

• The ability to arrange group activities and liaise with other local organisations to help plan them. 

• The ability to plan sessions in detail to ensure that they are trauma-informed and having the experience and confidence to ‘hold’ groups when things do not go to plan.

• The ability to work flexibly within a team and support those within it. 

• Experience in managing volunteers. 

• Knowledge and awareness of how particular activities and social situations could improve people’s self-esteem, self-confidence, build friendships and reduce their isolation. 

• A sound understanding of safeguarding and experience of supporting others to act in accordance with safeguarding policies and within the best interests of the Active Recovery member or those at risk.

• Experience in managing a long-term budget.

• Knowledge of survivors’ voice work.

• To be able to attend monthly one-to-one line management meetings and monthly clinical supervision.

DESIRABLE:

• Experience of building and maintaining positive partnerships in the community.

• Experience of running a community based project. 

• Experience of setting up processes for survivors’ voice work.

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to contribute to international research funding programmes and gain insight into how cancer prevention research is supported and delivered?

We are seeking a Research Funding Officer (Operations) to support the delivery of our research funding programmes, with a particular focus on the integration of the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) grant programme into the WCRF International portfolio. This is a fixed-term role for 18 months.

In this role, you will support the operational delivery of WCRF International’s grant programmes across both pre-award and post-award activities. You will contribute to the administration of grant calls, respond to applicant queries, process applications, support peer review and Panel meetings, and help maintain and develop our grant management system. You will also track research outputs, maintain grant records and contribute to internal reporting and analysis. 

You will have a relevant scientific background (e.g. nutrition, public health, cancer biology or a related discipline), with experience working in a research or administrative environment (ideally within academia or research management).You will have a strong analytical mindset and be comfortable working with data, systems and tracking processes, and be highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with a range of stakeholders is key as is being proactive, adaptable and able to work as part of a small, collaborative team.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational and analytical skills who enjoys working with data and complex processes. The postholder will gain a unique insight into the full research funding lifecycle, supporting both the pre-award and post-award stages of international grant programmes. Working closely with experienced colleagues across the Research Funding team, the successful candidate will develop a strong understanding of how research funding programmes are designed, delivered and monitored, while applying their scientific knowledge to real-world research projects.  About the role:

This is a pivotal role in our Campaigns and Communications Team, reporting to the Head of Campaigns and Communications. You will be managing the drafting of evidenced-based policy positions (for example analysing research, data and lived experience insight) and work with the Head of Campaigns and Communications to ensure these are translated into effective campaigning activity that drives real change.

You will oversee the integration of policy and campaigns activity, working closely with the Campaigns and Policy Officer, and enabling the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team to engage with parliamentary and high-level stakeholder engagement.

About the role

Working at Crisis Skylight Edinburgh, you will lead on the delivery of our volunteer programme. You will be responsible for the recruitment of new volunteers, the support of existing volunteers and volunteer to maintain a positive volunteer experience. You will work across teams to ensure volunteers’ experience of volunteering is positive and play a key role in volunteer retention. You’ll be responsible for supporting our network of volunteers and volunteer leaders in engaging and managing volunteers, as well as involved in a variety of creative new projects helping us to provide a positive and rewarding experience for anyone that gives their time to Samaritans.

You’ll play a key advisory, analytical and development focused role, supporting volunteers and volunteer leaders on all volunteer management matters, including sensitive and sometimes complex situations. You’ll also deliver impactful initiatives and projects that strengthen and enhance the volunteer experience, helping shape the ongoing development of Samaritans’ volunteer management and support practices.​

What you’ll be doing

• Providing expert advice and guidance to branches and regions on all volunteer management matters.
• Analysing complex or sensitive situations to identify key issues, risks, and appropriate courses of action.
• Developing and delivering initiatives and projects that strengthen and enhance the volunteer experience at Samaritans.
• Drafting clear, well-structured and professional written communications, including reports and formal correspondence.
• Supporting learning, training and resources that build confidence and capability in Volunteer Leaders.
• Contributing to the development and refinement of volunteer policies, processes and guidance.
• Supporting the fair, balanced and proportionate handling and effective resolution of volunteer concerns and complaints
• Identifying themes, risks, and organisational learning opportunities to inform continuous improvement.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation.

• Experience working with or supporting volunteer, or advising on people related matters.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex and sensitive situations, producing analysis and meaningful conclusions.
• The ability to exercise sound judgement and take a balanced, proportionate approach.

• Strong project management experience, including the development and delivery or improvement focused initiatives.
• A proactive, solutions focused and improvement-oriented mindset
• Knowledge of principles of natural justice and complaints management, and effective people resolution good practice.
• Experience of providing advice, training or support on volunteering matters.
• Experience and understanding of navigating organisational risk and safeguarding related volunteer matters .
• Report writing and presentation skills.
• Experience in prioritising workloads and working to deadlines with speed and accuracy.

About the role

As the Operations Manager, accountable to the Board of Trustees, you will be responsible for the day to day running of all activities in relation to the operation of Ignite Life. You will ensure the provision of high-quality services and compliance with contractual and organisational standards, as well as working in partnership with the Fundraising Manager to ensure income generation for the charity.

This is a full-time, permanent position based at our office in Staple Hill, Bristol BS15. Whilst the post is mainly office based; there is some flexibility for hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Operations Manager you will:

● Have operational leadership of the charity, ensuring day to day systems and practices are in good order and operating efficiently and effectively

● Support the Board of Trustees to set annual goals for Ignite Life

● Being the Designated Safeguard Lead for all of Ignite Life’s services.

● In partnership with the Fundraising Manager, ensure a consistent fundraising strategy for the charity is in place, including developing new partnerships and funding streams.

● Taking overall responsibility for the charity’s Health and Safety, and GDPR.

● Have oversight of charity’s financial position, including budgeting and updating managed accounts.

● Provide leadership for the core team of staff and volunteers (around 39 – 5 contracted counsellors and 1 clinical supervisor, 1 full-time employed staff member, 13 volunteers, 14-20 contracted youth mentors).

● Undertake regular and effective reporting to the Trustees.

● Manage annual reporting with the Charity Commission.

About You:
We're looking for someone who is extremely organised, can confidently manage a busy workload while building strong relationships with staff, volunteers and other agencies. You'll bring proven operational experience, alongside a real desire to work in an environment that focuses on supporting and improving the lives of marginalised young people and their families.

You’ll be able to demonstrate the following:

• An ability to build relationships with various stakeholders
• An understanding of mentoring and counselling practice and procedures.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and practice.

The Brent Centre for Young People 

The Brent Centre for Young People (BCYP) is the leading mental health charity for young people in Northwest London, helping over 800 young people a year with a wide range of issues. We offer specialised treatment in the areas of depression, suicide prevention, self-harm, eating disorders, exam anxiety and more. Our approach is rooted in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. We aim to reach significantly more young people in the years ahead, drawing on our heritage that combines specialist treatment in-house and outreach into communities. The Role

As HR Officer, you will play a role in bringing structure, consistency and clarity to Brent Centre’s HR processes. You will deliver practical, people-focused support across the employee lifecycle, from recruitment, onboarding to contract changes, developing and updating organisational policies, helping to strengthen and develop how HR supports colleagues across the organisation.

Working closely with the Administration and Finance Manager, you will act as the first point of contact for day-to-day HR queries, ensuring they are handled promptly, accurately and in line with Brent Centre’s values. You will support colleagues and managers to use HR systems effectively, interpret and apply policies correctly, and follow clear, consistent processes. You will maintain accurate information across our HR systems (Bright HR and SharePoint HR Intranet) and ensure HR data is complete, compliant and up to date.

This role will create real impact in the Lord’s Hill Community by working alongside our Academy colleagues to support families of Oasis students and the wider community. Helping more families to engage with support and provision, including the therapeutic space of our city farm.

You’ll oversee the volunteer support and system monitoring team, ensuring that every caller and volunteer experiences excellence in care, communication, and technology. You’ll also play a key role in shaping the future of Prayerline through data-driven decision-making and cross-departmental collaboration.

The successful candidate will have excellent administrative, problem solving and analytical skills; understanding the importance of how accurate data reporting informs improved service delivery.  You will also need to be flexible in your approach as there will be occasional evening or weekend working to cover for team support and absence.
