We are looking for a College Alumni Relations Manager to join our team to refine and expand a bold and innovative alumni volunteering programme to support both the priorities of the College of Medicine and Health and DARO. As a DARO business partner for the College, you will be based both within DARO and the College itself. You will join nine other volunteering professionals as part of the wider team and will be responsible for developing a range of volunteering opportunities for alumni, which support the College’s key priorities, and Birmingham 2030 targets, across a diversified curriculum, the student experience, graduate employability, student recruitment, research and influence. You will be responsible for growing the number of alumni volunteers for the College, reporting on the impact of your work internally and the relationship management of a number of key alumni contacts, with a clear focus on supporting international recruitment for the College. You will work with colleagues across DARO to bring alumni closer to the University to support Philanthropic giving.

Fundraising Manager

The Fundraising Manager will join the organisation at a pivotal stage, leading the development and delivery of a strategic, place-based fundraising programme linked to the centre in Bridgwater and across the wider South West.

Phoenix Futures are the leading provider of residential rehabilitation services in the UK. As part of our continued development of capacity and specialism in the sector, we are recruiting for a rehab in Oxfordshire, as a specialist female-only, trauma-responsive Therapeutic Community.

About you

We are looking for an exceptional individual to provide leadership to this new female-only service.

You will be understanding and passionate about the needs of women, have knowledge of the practical, emotional, social and economic issues facing them, have experience of and a desire to work in trauma responsive settings, and evidence experience of developing and shaping innovative services.

This role will be the CQC Registered Manager for a women’s-only residential service specialising in providing safe therapeutic environments for those who have experienced multiple disadvantage and those who have experienced past trauma. Therefore there is an Operational Requirement for this role to be fulfilled by a female (determined compliant under ACAS guidelines for recruiting applicants with a protected characteristic to do a certain job).[1]

The role

This role is an operational manager post that requires securing registration with the Care Quality Commission as an individual, and the continued management of a service also registered with the CQC.  

You will report to one of five Heads of Operations across the UK who report to the Director of Operations, and you will provide leadership and management to deputy managers (who in turn will manage the staff teams) and a nurse. This role is the figurehead of the service on-site, and balances the ongoing service provision with regulatory compliance and stakeholder engagement.

Phase one is now complete, the building has been completely refurbished to a high specification and has since opened in Autumn 2023.

Following the launch, this role will be the CQC Registered Manager for this service, with overall responsibility for it, including the programme provided, the staffing, the environment and the care and safety provided to residents.

The organisation

Phoenix Futures has been providing rehabilitation services for over 50 years. In support of the current Drug Strategy in England (From Harm to Hope) and the investment in residential services in Scotland, Phoenix are committed to rebuilding capacity across both countries in the residential rehab sector. In 2022/23 we launched two new residential services (Oakwood Lodge, an Enhanced Therapeutic Community in Derby, and Harper House, a National Specialist Family Service in North Ayrshire), and continue to identify further opportunities to increase provision.

The Ley Community began delivering a Therapeutic Community from its site in Yarnton in 1971 and established a well-regarded service up to its temporary closure in 2019. Joining the Phoenix Group has secured the additional investment needed to redevelop, and join the largest portfolio of residential services in the country. Responding to feedback from across referrers and those who use our services, the new service on this site will provide for women in need of a female-only space to safely and comfortably engage in treatment in a residential setting. Phoenix has a history of providing specialist services, including the CQC-rated Outstanding Grace House, a female-only rehab previously located in Camden. We take the history of both organisations forward into this development and will open later this year with great expectation. You will be key to achieving this, and the ongoing successes of this service.

Role summary

The Impact and Insight Manager will be responsible for leading an exciting range of high-profile research and analysis. Their work will develop the evidence base for careers education in schools, colleges and businesses, contributing to thought leadership.

We are seeking an analytical, curious and collaborative individual as an expert on careers education. Identifying, generating and using a wide range of evidence and data, you will work with the Senior Manager Impact and Insight, within the Policy and Impact team, to build an evidence-led approach across all our work, also advising on evaluations.

The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Evaluation and research  

• Generate insights from CEC and other data for the careers education system and demonstrate impact.
• Lead analysis of specific core datasets, including testing hypotheses, using quantitative analysis and working closely with external advisers where necessary.
• Lead new areas of research and evaluation, ensuring the activity contributes to the evidence base for careers education.

Relationships, Influencing & Management

• Build and develop trusted relationships with external research and policy organisations.
• Present accessible impact and insight findings and represent the CEC to stakeholders including. government, employers and educators.
• Project management and accountability for evaluation and research projects, potentially with external partners, producing insights to drive improvements.

Essential criteria:

• Experience of designing, delivering and managing evaluations in a social impact context.
• Proven track record of generating insights from data, using a structured approach including statistical analysis software (such as SPSS).
• Experience of engaging the support of stakeholders (internal and external) throughout the design and delivery of relevant research and analysis.
• Experience of communicating research (verbal and written) to a broad range of audiences.
• Proven ability to work and lead delivery at pace in a multi-project environment and to oversee and manage content from multiple sources.

Help tackle loneliness among older people in care homes

Thousands of older people living in care homes receive few or no visitors. Friends for Life Bedfordshire exists to change that.

Through our befriending and group activities, we bring companionship, connection and meaningful relationships to care home residents across Bedford and the surrounding area.

We are now looking for a Manager to lead the charity through a period of growth and transition – expanding our reach, strengthening our team, improving our delivery whilst building a sustainable future.

About Friends for Life Bedfordshire

We are a Bedford-based charity working to address the social isolation of older residents in Bedfordshire’s care homes.

Founded in 2007, we have grown from a small local initiative to a registered charity with c90 volunteers supporting more than 30 care homes across Bedford Borough. In the last year, over 1,100 care home residents received our services.

The Role

This is a leadership role responsible for the overall management, performance and development of the charity.

You will lead a small team which includes specialist leads responsible for fundraising, volunteer management, and marketing & partnerships.

Your role is to set direction for the team to deliver the charity’s strategy and business plan, aligning priorities and creating the conditions for the team to succeed.

You will also act as the public face of Friends for Life, working closely with the Board of Trustees. Whilst we are small charity and this is a hands-on leadership role, success will come from enabling others, not by doing everything yourself.

Key Responsibilities

Management of the Charity

• Lead the day-to-day running of the charity and the delivery of its business plan
• Work with Trustees to shape and implement plans for development, sustainability and impact
• As a member of the Board, contribute to the wider governance of the charity

Management of People

• Lead and develop a team of 5 part-time staff, including functional leads for fundraising, volunteer management, and marketing/partnerships
• Set clear priorities, objectives and accountability across the team
• Support and challenge team members to deliver against ambitious targets

· Rebuild and stabilise the team following a period of transition

Operational Management

• Ensure effective delivery of the befriending and activity programmes
• Drive growth in the number of residents supported by scaling volunteer recruitment and engagement
• Use digital tools and services to improve the quality and efficiency of service delivery
• Ensure services remain high-quality, safe and responsive to need, whilst complying with legislation and safeguarding requirements

Management of Fundraising

• Ensure effective delivery of fundraising strategy
• Support the development of new income streams including community fundraising, individual giving and partnerships
• Ensure income targets are met and funding relationships are effectively managed

Management of Partnerships & Profile

• Build and maintain relationships with care homes, other partners and stakeholders
• Raise the profile of the charity through external engagement, advocacy and partnerships

Financial Management & Governance

• Oversee budgets and ensure effective financial management
• Work with the Treasurer and Board on financial planning, risk and compliance
• Ensure safeguarding, governance and regulatory requirements are met

JOB FUNCTION: To lead the day-to-day delivery and development of the Foundation’s grant-making and charitable partnerships portfolio, acting as a key relationship owner for grantees and charity partners. The role will ensure high-quality stewardship, support, governance and impact reporting across existing grants, while also playing a key role in the design, development of new grant programmes aligned to the Foundation’s strategic priorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grant-making & Portfolio Management

• Support the delivery and oversight of the Foundation’s grants portfolio, acting as a key point of contact for funded organisations and ensuring high-quality stewardship.
• Lead on the organisation of regular review meetings, check ins and programme visits where appropriate.
• Help to identify where Chelsea Foundation can support partners beyond funding by identifying opportunities for added value including visibility, in-kind support and shared learning.
• Manage all core elements of the grants lifecycle, from application, due diligence and grant agreements to monitoring and review processes.
• Ensure grants are delivered in line with agreed objectives and timelines, identifying and escalating risks where appropriate.
• Support the development and implementation of new grant programmes aligned with the Foundation’s strategic priorities.

Impact, Learning & Communications

• Work with Impact & Evaluation and Finance colleagues to support monitoring, evaluation and learning across the grants portfolio.
• Work with Communications colleagues to contribute to internal and external communications, helping to spotlight the work of grantees and share impact and learning from grant activity.
• Maintain accurate records across agreed systems.

Charitable Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with charity partners across priority themes and geographies.
• Confidently represent the Foundation in external meetings and partnership activity.
• Assess inbound partnership enquiries and advise on appropriate routes for engagement.
• Explore opportunities for new charitable partnerships to augment and support Foundation delivery programmes.

• Operations Management

• Oversee the BCA’s yearly Events Calendar as well as the day-to-day operation and delivery of all BCA events, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and adherence to policies and procedures.

• Secure funding for all key events from suitable sponsors

• Source, curate and liaise with exhibitors

• Generate a programme of external entertainment or Barnes Fair and Christmas Festival

• Source and manage external contractors as required including but not limited to; Marquees, Staging, Security, PA systems, Generators and Battery Packs, Public Lavatories, First Aid and Ambulance Services, Rubbish Collection, Fun Fair equipment

We connect property developers, government authorities and studio providers forging valuable new collaborations, facilitating placemaking and actively participating in the development of policy in both the property and arts sectors.

Founded by the Mayor of London with expertise from Outset Contemporary Art Fund, and additional funding from Arts Council England and Bloomberg Philanthropies, we use our extensive knowledge of how the property and arts sectors interact to provide a way for donors, developers and investors to contribute to arts and culture at a systemic, infrastructure level.

This is a senior role and the post holder will have influence at trustee and team levels.
