The Finance team provides finance and budgeting support to staff, managers and members of PCS. The department is about to embark on a digital transformation that will modernise how the Finance department operates for the Union. We are looking for a Head of Finance that will drive and lead this project whilst maintaining continuity of service operation to the union, members and staff and, to join a progressive union that values collaboration, integrity, and social impact.

Successful candidates for the post of Head of FInance will be able to demonstrate:
You are a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CIPFA) and or have an MBA with:
- 5 years proven experience of managing a successful finance team
- Proven experience in strategic financial leadership
- Strong knowledge of financial systems, compliance, and reporting
- Project management and delivery in a financial setting
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Management of internal and external audit processes

The main duties of the Head of Finance role include:
- Strong leadership and effective management of the finance team
- Lead and manage the implementation and optimisation of a new finance system to ensure cost-efficiency through service reviews and technology adoption
- Deliver strategic financial advice to senior stakeholders
- Lead the unions financial services, focusing on complex and high-impact areas
- Support medium and long-term financial planning for the Director of Central Services and Senior Management Team
- Oversee management accounts, year-end financial reports, and budget cycles
- Ensure compliance with VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE, and regulatory reporting (e.g., AR21)
- Provide accurate financial data and strategic insights to decision-makers
- Strengthen audit processes and investment oversight
- Ensure integrity in transaction processing and ledger management
- Maintain compliance with data protection and service level agreements
- Support supplier relationship management
Excellent people and leadership skills combined with strong analytical skills, and problem solving ability, and an understanding of up-to-date finance technology will all be essential requirements for a successful Head of Finance.

Purpose of the job:
Management and leadership of the PCS Finance Team and the provison of strategic financial advice to the National Executive Committee and other bodies.

Main duties and responsibilities
1.People Management
- Manage work allocation and workflow, future planning and support for Finance Team and Director of Central Services
- Motivate and manage individuals and the team as a whole to provide a high standard of service to develop and improve the skills and efficiency of the Finance team
- Check work standards and maintain consistent quality of delegated tasks
- Seek to continuously improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the team
- Through induction, the appraisal system and one-to-ones, identify staff training and development needs, train or organise formal/informal training for the Finance Team

- Manage the introduction, implementation and continuous monitoring of a new finance system to provide effective budget management at every level of the union

- Provide straightforward access to budgets for all budget holders to facilitate better planning and cash flow management
- Ensure resources are optimised to enable good decision-making across each command area
- Review and update where necessary current audit processes to ensure compliance with the Trade Union Certification Officer
- Provide investment oversight, forecasting, and asset management to the Director of Central Services, and produce relevant information to support spending and investment decisions

5.Operational Management

6. Group and Branch Funding
- Oversee PCS work with Special Member Auditors to ensure the completion of union group and branch audit procedures in line with rules and Finance Committee requirements
- Provide assistance to group and branch treasurers, including training courses
- Provide reports as required for the Finance Committee
- Ensure expenses are paid in line with Service Level Agreement requirements
7. Finance Training and good practice
- Participate in the dissemination of financial knowledge across the union. Organise and participate in periodic financial training programmes for budget-holders, treasurers and members
8. Communication
- Draft complex communications including briefs, reports, business cases, for internal and external stakeholders
- Draft papers, policies and regulations in relation to financial management
- Communicate with members by producing circulars and briefings, and by addressing meetings and conferences etc
- Represent PCS where necessary and liaise with outside professional bodies such as auditors
- Provide financial information as required by other areas of the Union, in particular treasurers, or other bodies

About the role

- Ensure that immediate bereavement support is available for all affected by the sudden death of a child or young person

- Provide support and training to professionals from any sector who may be affected by the sudden death of a child or young person

2wish Cymru and 2wish:
2wish has been established since 2012 and has grown from strength to strength. During tis time, we have worked tirelessly to embed our service and ensure that the offer of support is made at the point of death.
We offer an immediate, consistent, high-quality and compassionate service to all individuals affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under in Wales and the bordering counties in England, including; Cheshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Avon and Somerset, with the plan to continue to roll out support to the whole of England. We work in partnership with professionals who refer int the charity on behalf of families, so they don’t have to trawl through the internet for an organisation who may, or may not, be able to support. We provide immediate, and ongoing, support and are here for as long as our families need us.
Context of role:
2wish support anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. We provide immediate casework support, as well as ongoing aftercare services including counselling, alternative therapies, play therapy, support groups, support events and a respite cottage.
We are looking for a strong leader to manage the bereavement service including the operational delivery of immediate support and counselling and therapeutic support services, this includes the line management of the staff responsible for delivering this service.

Main duties:
Safeguarding Leadership & Case Management
- Act as the first point of contact for all safeguarding concerns raised internally or externally.
- Assess, triage, and respond to safeguarding concerns involving vulnerable bereaved parents, carers, siblings, or young people.

What we do for you:
Contract type: Permanent and full-time
Hours: Normal office hours are 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday, although alternative hours may be worked with line manager agreement. Work outside office hours may sometimes be necessary and will be compensated for by time off in lieu.
Annual leave: 28 days plus bank holidays. Annual leave steadily increases after five years of service. Annual leave and statutory holidays are calculated on a pro rata basis where applicable.

NDADA Children and Families Team – Devon Domestic Abuse Alliance
This is an exciting time to be joining this team, as funding has been extended and the project is really starting to make a difference to the lives of those families who are receiving support from Children Services. The role will involve one to one work with the safe parent, raising awareness and training staff to understand and recognise signs of domestic abuse, working alongside each other to advocate for parents who are struggling with difficult and abusive relationships.
About the role
We are recruiting an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (Qualified IDVA or IDVA Practitioner to work towards IDVA qualification) to join the NDADA Children and Families Team, part of the Devon Domestic Abuse Alliance (DDAA). This is a vital role working alongside Devon Children’s Services to ensure victims of domestic abuse and their children are safe, supported, and able to access the right services at the right time.
You will be embedded within the Family Assessment and Intervention Team at County Hall, Exeter, or at Totnes or Barnstaple, working closely with social workers and partner agencies. Some home working is possible, however you will be required to work from County Hall or one of the other locations at least two days per week. Your caseload will predominantly cover Exeter area alongside another Exeter based CSIDVA, and you will also need to be able to support clients in other areas depending on the needs of the service.
This role involves multi-agency working, flexibility, and a trauma-informed approach to encourage engagement and improve outcomes for families affected by domestic abuse.
About you
As an IDVA, you will provide proactive, specialist support to victims of domestic abuse, carrying out risk assessments, safety planning, advocacy, and system navigation. You will work closely with professionals across children’s services, housing, health, police, and the voluntary sector to coordinate responses and keep families safe.
You will also play a key role in challenging harmful narratives, reframing domestic abuse as a perpetrator choice, and fostering empathy and understanding for abused parents within safeguarding processes.
We recognise that no candidate will meet every element of the person specification and encourage applications from people with transferable skills and lived professional experience.
What we’re looking for

- At least two years’ experience as an IDVA, YPVA or ISVA or similar practitioner work with domestic abuse awareness

The National Youth Agency is looking for a new Academy Tutor to join our Academy Team.
Academy Tutor
Contract: Maternity cover until August 2026 (subject to extension)
Hours: Full-time – 37 hours per week
Salary: £36,724.54 per annum
Remote: This role is homebased (in England) with occasional travel for staff residentials and other events.

As the national body for youth work, the NYA has a dual function. We are the professional statutory and regulatory body (PSRB) responsible for qualifications, quality standards, and safeguarding for youth work and services in England. In line with our charity mission and aims, we also champion youth work through research, advocacy, campaigns, and programmes.
We work in partnership and believe in collaborative leadership, listening to youth workers and the youth work sector so that we can understand their needs and respond to the challenges they face. We are ambitious for youth work and for young people and integrate youth voice and influence across our work
About the Role
As the National Body for Youth Work in England, we are ambitious for youth work and for young people and are determined that all young people should have the opportunity to benefit from the life-changing impact of qualified youth workers and trained volunteers.
To support our mission we are seeking enthusiastic, skilled and JNC qualified professionals to join us as Academy Tutors.
Our Academy Tutors will deliver inspiring training, develop and review resources and ensure all activities are in line with both NYA and external expectations of quality and expertise. The post will require a commitment to continuing engagement across the sector and beyond to ensure the NYA Academy’s work is rooted in the needs of young people and youth work.
The Academy Team are reflective expert trainers and facilitators. They can support the development of knowledge and skills; deliver innovative and engaging projects that benefit youth work and young people; and work with colleagues from the NYA and the wider field to ensure that youth work is promoted and protected, for the benefit of all young people.
The Academy Tutor will ensure the NYA is at the forefront of developing its products and services.
You will work alongside a committed, lively team working together to transform the lives of young people through the power of youth work.
Key responsibilities for this role will include:
- Developing and delivering training along with the development of programmes (including accredited training).
- Supporting learners and monitoring their progress through regular reviews and assessments.
- Contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of resources and processes.
- Building positive relationships with learners to promote their engagement and to achieve successful outcomes.
- Ensure all learners have a supportive and positive learning experience
- The post holder should promote the NYA’s extensive offer and maintaining its reputation in the fields of expertise.
- Ensuring the voice of young people is heard loudly across the NYA and in all aspects of our work.
- Ensure the NYA follows best safeguarding best practice.
- Ensure all operational activity and youth work content is to the highest quality, representing the position of NYA as the National Body for Youth Work in England.
- Participating in team meetings, session planning and evaluation meetings.
- Compliance with all NYA policies and procedures.
- Compliance with all safeguarding policies and health and safety requirements.
- Undertaking any identified training in line with the role including safeguarding and undergoing a DBS check.
