In this role, you’ll help ensure our shops are safe, welcoming, and thriving spaces that inspire donations, volunteering, and sales — all contributing to Shelter’s mission of defending the right to a safe home.

About the role

This role supports the Area Manager to ensure shops across the area are safe, welcoming and thriving. You’ll represent Shelter in the community, creating positive experiences for customers, donors and volunteers while maximising Gift Aid and encouraging ongoing support.

You’ll help to oversee shop operations – from pricing and stock rotation to displays and local income-generating events, along with playing a key part in recruiting, developing and guiding Community Shop Managers.

Financial responsibility is central, following procedures, reviewing shop accounts and supporting managers to identify opportunities and reduce costs. Success means helping shops meet and exceed targets, increasing Shelter’s contribution and ensuring vibrant, well-run shops that maximise impact.

About this role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Philanthropy Assistant to join the Charity team here at Alder Hey, the UK’s busiest Children’s Hospital.

The postholder will work closely with the Philanthropy Support Lead to provide operational support and administration for the team, including events, donor meetings and visits, mailings, prospect research, data and use of the charity CRM (Salesforce).

We’re looking for a flexible team player with previous administration experience. You’ll also be self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented and great at building relationships. If you’re excited by the sound of this, we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities will include:

Events 

• Support the delivery of events; from individual visits and tours of the hospital for donors, private dinners, through to larger events such as Gala Balls. 

• Build strong relationships with colleagues and clinicians in the Trust to support, coordinate and plan tours and events. 

• Greet and steward visitors to the hospital and guests at our events.

• Help to prepare event briefings for Charity and Trust colleagues, so that all participants understand their role and contribute effectively. 

Administration, Processes and Data 

• Provide administration support for the philanthropy team ensuring all work is of a high standard, professional and accurate. 

• Writing and sending out personalised letters and cards. 

• Diary management, minute taking and meeting organisation. 

• Keeping the charity’s supporter database accurate and up to date. 

• Support with preparing data for philanthropy mailings and event invite lists.

• Use the CRM to support with the delivery of the Mid Value Programme. 

• Undertake prospect research, ensuring all processes are compliant with our privacy policy, data protection legislation and prospect research best practice. 

Other Duties  

• Be an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity in line with the core values of the organisation. 

• Be an active and supportive member of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity team, contributing to the team’s development and working collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers.

We are looking for a part time Gift Aid Lead - 21 hours per week for an incredible social welfare charity.

You will be contracted to the Borough hub with a minimum expectation of one day per week working in person.

The role

• This is a specialist role at the centre of how they manage and maximise Gift Aid across the organisation.
• You'll take ownership of monthly claims covering over £100m of fundraised income, ensuring everything is accurate, fully compliant with HMRC requirements, and supported by a clear and robust audit trail.
• Working across multiple directorates, you'll help embed consistent, high-quality processes so Gift Aid is properly considered, correctly applied, and efficiently delivered at every stage.
• A key part of the role is interrogating and improving the quality of Gift Aid data identifying gaps, increasing declaration coverage, reducing errors, and ensuring income is correctly assessed before claims are made.
• You'll also act as the main point of contact for HMRC queries and audits.
• Alongside the technical side, you'll work closely with teams across fundraising, income processing, data and finance to make sure Gift Aid is fully understood and embedded in day-to-day activity.
• This includes reviewing processes, strengthening controls, supporting supplier compliance and developing clear guidance and training where needed.

The role is responsible for building the systems, practices and products that help us synthesise what we are learning from programmes, innovation, place-based work, evaluation, research, lived experience and external evidence, and use that learning to shape strategy, funding, delivery and external influence. Working closely with the Head of Data and Evaluation, the role ensures evidence is not only generated to a high standard, but actively interpreted, shared and applied. In doing so, the role contributes to Impact on Urban Health’s reputation as a credible and trusted voice on urban health and health equity. 

This role will provide senior leadership for how IoUH learns from its work, makes sense of evidence, and turns insight into action. The postholder will be expected to bring structure, judgement and momentum to a developing function, helping the organisation move from generating evidence to using it consistently and well. 

The postholder will also provide expert input to other parts of the Foundation where relevant.

Job Responsibilities 

Impact on Urban Health     

• Lead Impact on Urban Health’s approach to insight synthesis and sense-making, establishing clear processes for bringing together evaluation findings, programme learning, research, data, lived experience and external evidence to identify what we are learning, what it means, and how it should inform future decisions. 
• Lead the knowledge mobilisation approach for DEL (process of sharing and embedding evidence and learning creating true learning and change), working with teams across IoUH to turn priority evidence and learning into accessible, useful and influential products for internal and external audiences, including external evidence resources on what works to improve urban health. 
• Work with the Head of Data and Evaluation and wider DEL colleagues to maintain a joined-up evidence system, ensuring data, research and evaluation outputs are synthesised, interpreted and translated into learning that informs strategy, funding, delivery and influence. 
• Lead the learning approach for Innovation and cross-cutting work, ensuring test-and-learn activity generates useful insight, supports adaptation, and feeds into wider organisational learning, in partnership with the Director of Innovation. 
• Lead the development and improvement of IoUH’s internal learning and knowledge management systems. 
• Ensure learning from cross-programme, innovation and influencing activity is captured and used in ways that meet strategic objectives, build on what is already known, and support equitable and inclusive practice. 
• Set and uphold standards for how learning is captured, synthesised, shared and used, ensuring insight is clear, accessible, intellectually honest and connected to organisational priorities. 
• Implement the Data, Evidence and Learning strategy alongside other Heads in the team, championing a culture of reflection, learning and evidence-informed decision-making. 
• Maintain and develop personal expertise in urban health evidence, learning practice and knowledge mobilisation.

What the job involves

As Product and Delivery Manager, you'll play a key role in helping us deliver technology that supports Prostate Cancer UK’s mission. What we want from you

• Lead the development of the organisation's long-term financial strategy, supporting its next phase of growth and international expansion.
• Partner closely with the Chief Executive, Trustees, Board Members and leadership team, providing strategic financial insight to support organisational decision-making, programme investment and fundraising activity.
• Oversee all aspects of financial management across multiple international entities, ensuring robust financial controls, governance and compliance frameworks are in place.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and scenario modelling processes, supporting both operational delivery and long-term strategic planning.
• Build strong relationships across fundraising, research and programme teams, supporting complex grant funding, restricted income management and commercial partnership activity.
• Oversee the production of monthly management accounts, statutory reporting, audit processes and regulatory submissions across multiple entities.
• Drive improvements in financial systems, reporting processes and operational efficiency as the organisation continues to scale.
• Provide leadership and development support to a small finance team, helping to build capability within the function.
• Act as a trusted advisor across the organisation, balancing hands-on operational delivery with strategic leadership.
• Represent finance confidently at Board and leadership level, communicating complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

Essential criteria

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
• Strong experience in a senior finance leadership role within the charity sector.
• Proven experience managing financial operations, reporting, budgeting and forecasting within a growing organisation.
• Experience operating across complex stakeholder environments, with the confidence to influence and challenge senior leaders and Boards.
• Strong understanding of financial governance, controls, compliance and risk management.
• Strong commercial and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into meaningful insight.
• Hands-on and adaptable approach, comfortable operating strategically while remaining close to operational detail.
• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with high levels of emotional intelligence and credibility.
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving organisation.
• Experience working across multiple entities, funding streams or international operations would be highly advantageous.

This role is based in London with an expectation of two days per week in the office.

This is an exciting opportunity for a new Chief Executive Officer to lead our well-respected rare disease patient organisation through the next phase of growth and impact, in particular focussing on financial sustainability and influencing health policy for these rare diseases.These sit alongside the other grass-roots duties of a small charity CEO, including working with our Medical Advisory Team to develop new and maintain existing patient education resources, and overseeing our support services including volunteers and a professional psychological counselling service. Reporting to and working with the Board of Trustees, the CEO will be responsible for delivering our 2027-2030 Strategic Plan, ensuring robust governance, and driving forward our mission to improve the lives of people affected by rare diseases.The CEO manages the part-time Executive Administrator and works with up to 30 current volunteers (patients, carers, and health professionals) to deliver services with impact.This role includes occasional weekend work, as well as approximately 15 days travel (national and international) per year to represent and advocate for the charities’ beneficiaries.
