- Minimum 4 years + post qualified solicitor with a current practising certificate, and

About the Role
The Supervising Solicitor – Legal Aid is a key role in shaping and strengthening Release’s legal services. Working closely with the Joint Head of Legal Services and Executive Director, and in collaboration with other colleagues, you will supervise the delivery of high-quality legal advice and representation, supporting the growth of legal aid practice whilst ensuring Release continues to train and develop social justice lawyers for the future.
We are looking for an experienced legal aid practitioner who is strongly committed to social justice and the legal rights of marginalised communities, and who wants to build leadership experience in a movement-led organisation. The role will combine hands-on practice, leadership, supervision and compliance responsibilities.
Please note: We do not expect the postholder to generate legal aid income at a multiple of their salary. While we do aim to grow legal aid income across the team to an initial target of £15,000–£25,000 per annum, the focus of this role is on developing high‑quality legal aid practice and building sustainable income collectively, as part of a mixed‑income organisational model.
As Supervising Solicitor – Legal Aid, you will:
• Support Strategic Development: Contribute to developing the direction and priorities of Release’s legal services, including expanding legal aid work and strengthening access to justice.
• Provide Practice Supervision: Support a multidisciplinary team of solicitors, legal advisers and volunteers to deliver excellent, trauma-informed legal support. Support and mentor team members on how to adhere to legal aid file compliance, time recording and CCMS applications.
• Ensure Quality and Compliance: Help ensure consistent regulatory compliance and quality assurance across legal casework, including legal aid requirements.
• Strengthen and Grow Services: Help develop and improve legal service delivery models, including responding to emerging needs and client priorities.

ROLE OVERVIEW
The Volunteering Executive is responsible for recruiting, managing, and coordinating RLSS UK volunteers. This role will require the candidate to interact with a wide variety of volunteers throughout the UK and Ireland, promoting volunteering opportunities and recruiting people to fulfil those roles; in particular but not limited to, supporting RLSS UK presence and voluntary lifeguarding at external events, and also the delivery of our schools education strategy and the Water Smart Schools programme.
The Volunteering Executive will work closely with other colleagues who support RLSS UK’s volunteer-led community presence in the Volunteer and Events Team, as well as the Education Manager, and the Membership Team.
As well as recruiting and organising individuals and teams of volunteers, the role will also play a key part in ensuring RLSS UK volunteers feel that their contribution and commitment is appreciated and properly recognised and it is recorded against their individual records on the RLSS UK system.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILTIES
Volunteering
- To manage the recruitment, retention, and day-to-day recognition of RLSS UK Volunteers
- To maintain a robust and safe record of RLSS UK volunteers and their voluntary roles
- Working with the various directorates to identify and coordinate volunteering opportunities for RLSS UK volunteers
- To collate and manage William Henry hours in partnership with the Events Executive to recognise the contribution of individual RLSS UK volunteers through our Honours system
- To coordinate a cohort of RLSS UK Education Volunteers throughout the UK to deliver RLSS UK activity out in the community
- To assemble and coordinate the creation of teams of volunteer lifeguards for a variety of third-party water-based events
- To support RLSS UK volunteers and members with accessing and using our member led database
- To maintain accurate reports of volunteer activities, that can be used to look at the impact of their contribution to the Society’s objectives
- Manage partnerships with external event organisers to ensure:
o Voluntary roles fulfilled by RLSS UK are clear, suitable, safe, and enjoyable
o RLSS UK volunteers meet the requirements of external event organisers

Main Duties
- Manage a portfolio of grants, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and timelines
- Coordinate key grant management processes including: Go/No-Go, due diligence, funding agreement review, grant kick off and grant management meetings, narrative and financial reporting and renewals.
- Deliver compelling, impactful and timely proposals and reports, and broker the relationship between programmes and the funder
- Maintain excellent relationships with funders through timely communications in relation to the work they support

Brief role description:
This job acts as a ‘secretariat’ function for the Global Board, sub Committees and Senior Leadership Team, ensuring the timely preparation of agendas, collation and circulation of papers, minuting meetings and managing action points. Responsibilities and Person Specification:
The Office Manager is responsible for the smooth running of our renovated, spacious open plan office, ensuring that it is welcoming, safe and inclusive. The postholder will lead on day-to-day office management, health and safety, and contribute to a high-quality employee experience in the office and working from home.
You should have demonstrable experience in office management and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly about, property and office facilities management. The role involves managing a small portfolio of non-office properties, so an understanding of landlord responsibilities would be an advantage.
The role is part-time, 28 hours over 4 days per week. We would also be open to this being worked over 5 shorter days. The role is majority office based due to the responsibilities of the role, with a minimum 3 days per week in the office, with the option of some home working. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring in-person coverage across the working week in conjunction with a part-time Facilities and Office Assistant.
