We are seeking a dynamic individual with strong people skills to provide leadership across all of BTO’s Country Offices and to manage operations in Scotland. Operational management for Wales and Northern Ireland is provided by the Heads of those teams. The post holder will be part of BTO's senior leadership team, responsible for setting the direction and priorities of the organisation and attending Board meetings where they will represent BTO Country Operations. The postholder will directly manage an excellent team of senior Country Office staff members and work collaboratively with many others.
The role requires demonstrable experience in supporting, motivating, and leading multi-disciplinary teams and excellent people management and influencing skills. It will also require experience in developing strategic vision, setting measures of success, securing funding, and ensuring delivery of multiple and often complex projects. The post holder will need skills in, and a passion for communicating both internally and externally; a good science (ideally ecological) background, and an understanding of long-term monitoring and citizen science approaches to monitoring and research.
Ideally, the postholder will be based out of the BTO Scotland office in Stirling (which currently has the largest staff complement), but we would be willing to consider working out of the BTO Cymru offices at Bangor University or the BTONI offices in Lisburn, near Belfast, for the right candidate.
BTO operates flexible working, and a hybrid working pattern is available (60% office, 40% home). The postholder is expected to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues across the BTO, and whilst communication by virtual means is used frequently, regular travel (several times a year) between each of the offices in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and to the English office in Thetford, Norfolk is required, as is frequent working in person at the postholder’s office base.

The Human Resources Business Partner will lead all aspects of HR across ParalympicsGB and oversee the design, coordination, and delivery of learning and development (L&D) for a workforce of approximately 50 employees.

This role is central to ensuring that ParalympicsGB maintains a positive, high performing culture, underpinned by effective people management, robust HR processes, and meaningful development opportunities for all staff.
Working three days per week (0.6 FTE), the postholder will act as the organisation’s primary HR contact, providing expert guidance to Directors, Heads of Department and Managers, and ensuring compliance with current UK employment legislation and best practice, supported by continuous professional development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Human Resources Management
· Serve as the first point of contact for all HR matters across the organisation, providing expert advice and support to managers on: employee relations, performance, conduct, absence, wellbeing, family-friendly accommodations (e.g. flexible working requests).
· Manage HR casework as it arises, ensuring timely, fair and legally compliant resolution.
· Ensure compliance with employment law, safeguarding requirements and internal governance standards; appropriately maintaining and updating HR policies, procedures, and employee records.
· Oversee recruitment and onboarding processes, ensuring a positive and inclusive candidate experience.
· Support organisational initiatives related to inclusion, diversity, equality and accessibility.

Performance Framework Administration
· Lead the administration and continuous improvement of ParalympicsGB’s performance management framework.

· Provide guidance and training to managers on effective performance management, including standards and tools for high-quality objective setting, mid-year check-ins and year-end reviews.
· Monitor and assure the quality of objectives and performance review conversations, ensuring fairness, consistency and alignment to organisational goals.
· Collect and analyse performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
· Report performance insights and recommendations to senior leadership and inform succession and L&D priorities.
Learning and Development
· Oversee delivery of an annual learning and development programme for all staff in partnership with senior leadership and the Corporate Services team.
· Ensure every employee has an up-to-date individual learning and development plan.
· Identify organisational training needs and coordinate workshops, training sessions, and development opportunities; sourcing appropriate internal or external solutions as needed, supported by the Corporate Services team.
· Evaluate the impact of L&D initiatives and recommend improvements.
People, Culture and Organisational Development
· Contribute to initiatives that strengthen organisational culture, staff engagement and wellbeing.
· Support workforce planning and organisational development projects.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

· A recognised HR qualification (e.g., CIPD Level 5 or above).
· Significant experience in a similar HR Business Partner or HR Business Partner/L&D combined role.

SARSAS exists to relieve the trauma and distress, and help rebuild the lives, of survivors who live in Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and BANES, who have experienced any form of sexual violence, at any point in their lives.

About you

We’re looking for a part-time Executive Assistant (20 hours per week) to support our Executive Leaders and help Samaritans continue to be there for people when it matters most.
As an Executive Assistant, you’ll be highly organised and a great communicator. You’ll be responsible for providing highly efficient and effective support across all administrative and organisational activities. Working in a responsive team you will be one of the first points of contact for the Executive Leadership Team and will assist with administration and organisation of diaries for meetings and travel arrangements, preparing briefs and drafting a range of communications. You’ll attend key meetings in a supporting role and ensure efficiency and timely support to the Leadership team.
You’ll also assist with front-line reception administration services in the Ewell (Surrey) Office as required.
Contract terms:
£32,000 - £34,000 per annum, plus benefits (£18,285 - £19,428 pro-rata for 20 hours)

About the role
The Performance, Strategy and Insight Director plays a critical role in the strategic operation of the Communications and Fundraising Directorate, by driving data and insight led decision making, strategic direction setting, and smooth operational delivery ensuring we are working effectively and efficiently to drive greatest impact.
The role will ensure data and insight is put at the heart of our work, by leading strong and effective CRM and data analytics functions, and that teams across the directorate are supported with clear directorate wide plans and strategy.
