Psychotherapist / Counsellor

At Prospect Hospice, we know that facing a life-limiting illness can bring profound emotional and psychological challenges for patients, families and those who care for them.

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Psychotherapist or Counsellor to provide specialist psychological support to people navigating the complex emotional realities of serious illness, loss and end of life.

This is a meaningful opportunity to help people explore fear, grief, identity and resilience, while supporting clinical teams to deliver truly holistic hospice care.

Hours: 8 hours per week (with flexibility to meet service needs)

The role

Working as part of our Family Support Team and wider multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist psychotherapeutic assessment and intervention for patients and families experiencing complex emotional and psychological distress.

Your work will help ensure that psychological and spiritual care remains fully integrated within our hospice services.

In this role you will:

• Provide specialist 1:1 psychotherapy and counselling for patients and families with complex psychological needs
• Support people experiencing distress related to diagnosis, illness progression, trauma, grief and loss
• Contribute psychological expertise within multidisciplinary team discussions and care planning
• Provide consultation, supervision and training to staff and volunteers
• Lead reflective practice and staff support where appropriate
• Contribute to the development and evaluation of psycho-spiritual services across the hospice

Through your expertise and compassion, you will help patients and families find ways to cope, adapt and maintain dignity during some of life’s most difficult moments.

About you

You will be an experienced psychotherapist or counsellor who brings both professional expertise and emotional insight to your work.

You will have:

• A recognised counselling or psychotherapy qualification and registration or accreditation with a recognised UK professional body
• Experience delivering 1:1 psychotherapy in complex or emotionally demanding settings
• Strong skills in assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention
• Experience supporting people facing serious illness, trauma, grief or bereavement
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Experience in palliative care or healthcare settings would be an advantage.

Fitzrovia Youth in Action (FYA) is looking for an experienced, passionate and enthusiastic person for our Peer Mentoring Officer role. If you feel like this is you, we would love to hear from you!

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy is seeking a Trade Union Project Officer to help strengthen our organising, bargaining and employment relations work across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to use their research, communication and analytical skills to make a real difference to the working lives of physiotherapy staff.

You will play a central role in ensuring that reps and members are equipped with high‑quality, accessible and timely information on employment and trade union matters. A key part of the role will be supporting bargaining and negotiation at local, regional, country and UK levels. You will source and analyse quantitative and qualitative information to determine and develop information resources and potential projects.

Working arrangements

Hybrid working

The CSP operates a hybrid working model, allowing employees to work between their home and the office. While we do not stipulate the number of days in the office, employees can decide, through discussions with their line managers, how, when, and where they work best, balancing the needs of the CSP, the team, and themselves. Employees are still expected to attend the office for in-person meetings when required for their role and the organisation. Homeworking is subject to meeting homeworking assessment requirements, which include a minimum broadband speed of 18Mbps and a dedicated space to work from.

Flexible working

We currently have employees working part-time, job share, compressed hours, adjusted start and finish times, and other non-standard working patterns. As Senior Counsellor, you will deliver high‑quality, trauma‑informed one‑to‑one counselling, carry out assessments, manage a clinical caseload, and provide guidance to volunteer and trainee counsellors. You will work closely with the Counselling and Services Manager to support service coordination, safeguarding, risk management and continuous service improvement.

About the role

London-based contract with the option of hybrid working between the office and home.

In this role your expertise in industrial relations and understanding of trade unions will be critical to the CSP as it supports physiotherapy and support staff in workplaces across the UK.

You will lead the CSP’s work on Job Evaluation — championing fair pay structures by representing the profession in the NHS Job Evaluation Group, as well as developing and sharing specialist knowledge in this area with staff and reps.

You will coordinate evidence-based responses to Government consultations related to the workplace, ensuring our members’ experiences and priorities cut through with decision makers and help shape CSP policy and strategy around employment matters.

Your research and policy work will underpin bargaining, campaigning and negotiations across local, regional, country and UK levels — turning evidence into influence to improve our members working lives.

You will make sure our reps have the right information at the right time by producing high‑quality materials that support recruitment, activism and workplace organising and you will provide clear, authoritative guidance on employment and union matters for members,

A core part of the role will be to produce a range of documents and materials, including reports; briefings/ guidance; consultation responses; speeches; articles; and text for leaflets, posters, in house journal and website. You will be adept at drafting to suit a range of print and digital channels and formats.

Working arrangements

Hybrid working

The CSP operates a hybrid working model, allowing employees to work between their home and the office. While we do not stipulate the number of days in the office, employees can decide, through discussions with their line managers, how, when, and where they work best, balancing the needs of the CSP, the team, and themselves. Employees are still expected to attend the office for in-person meetings when required for their role and the organisation. When young people in care turn 18, all the support they’ve relied on can fall away, literally overnight.  Suddenly, they have to navigate adulthood on their own. This would be tough for any teenager, even if they could fall back on their family for help. So it’s not surprising that two out of three care-experienced young people feel unprepared to leave care. Too many still don’t get the support they need to make it safely past this cliff edge.

Care leavers aged 18-21 are nine times more likely to experience homelessness than their peers.

Settle exists to change this. We’re an award-winning charity, supporting care-experienced young people as they move into their first home, so they can confidently transition into independent living, avoid eviction and homelessness, and establish the foundations they need to thrive in adulthood. Hours: The hours are full-time (35 hours per week) preferred, with attendance at funder events outside core hours as needed from time to time – part-time will be considered for the right candidate but we envisage at least 0.8FTE / 28 hours per week
