WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Knowledge and experience
You will bring:
- A strong track record of developing and securing income through partnerships, sponsorship, membership, and/or charitable funding
- Experience building and managing commercial or strategic partnerships, including identifying opportunities and maintaining long-term relationships
- Experience designing and delivering programmes involving multiple stakeholders, sectors, and/or geographies
- The ability to develop robust business cases, including assessing opportunities, risks, and resource requirements
- Experience growing and engaging professional networks, memberships, or cross-sector communities
- Confidence working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
Knowledge of the mental health, healthcare, design, or built environment sectors is welcome, but not essential.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
• To support the community work of Adoption UK Scotland community support services, to plan and deliver community events, provide professionals, parents/carers, children, and young people access to information, resources, and services and to engage with families in their local communities.
• To offer a front-line service, primarily to adoptive and kinship families, and care experienced individuals and young people, by supporting delivery and administration for activities and events, including regular support groups delivery, youth and teens/young adults, and family events. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Working alongside service leads within the communities team, and with the wider Adoption UK Scotland team members to plan and deliver specific events and activities for adoptive and kinship community members, and care experienced children and young people via our E Project youth service for children, teens and young adults.
• Provide administrative coordination for community event provision, including collating event materials, gathering feedback and evaluations for reporting purposes, supporting delivery of events, maintaining records using existing required systems, and responding to enquiries via our Information and Support line and relevant email inboxes.
• Working alongside Communications colleagues and across teams to ensure promotion of events to relevant target groups
• Attending events to promote the wider work of AUK Scotland at conferences or support groups
• To hold responsibility for administrative requirements relating to community events, including setting up booking pages, sharing information via newsletters and social media, and recording service delivery interactions, using existing Adoption UK systems and processes
• To work with colleagues in the Foundations for Families kinship support service to support delivery and coordinate activities between services where appropriate.
• To report to line manager and directors in Adoption UK Scotland relating to service delivery, including contributing to monitoring and reporting on activities.
• To work alongside Adoption UK colleagues to develop and improve resources and services for our communities.

Role responsibilities

About Action Tutoring
At Action Tutoring, we believe every child should be given the opportunity to succeed in school. But in the UK today, young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are less likely to
achieve the grades they need to progress in life. This isn't because they are any less able; they have less access to the tools to help them reach their potential.
We don't think this is fair. We know tutoring is an effective way of improving academic attainment and so we harness the power of volunteer tutors to bridge the gap and ensure this help can be accessed by every pupil who needs it, not just those who can afford it.
We specifically help pupils facing socio-economic disadvantage and who are at risk of leaving primary or secondary school without reaching national standards in their exams. We work in partnership with schools in different cities and regions across the UK, delivering weekly tutoring in English or maths to those pupils who need it most.

About the role

Do you love signposting people to enable them to access services and get the right support at the right time? Do you thrive in a fast‑paced environment where every conversation has the potential to help someone on their epilepsy journey with us? If so, this could be your perfect next step.
Our Information & Support Hub is at the centre of that mission to create a world without limits for people with epilepsy. As an Initial Contact Assessor, you will be the welcoming first point of contact for anyone reaching out for help, understanding, support or reassurance.
At Epilepsy Action we recognise the power of collaboration and teamwork, so our team members with hybrid contracts can expect to work a minimum of 40% at our office in Leeds. On average this is 2 days a week, normally on Mondays and Thursdays, for full-time employees. The expectation to collaborate face-to-face is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do which may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to help us create a world without limits for people with epilepsy
What you will do
Every day is different, but your purpose stays the same: help people feel supported from the very first moment they get in touch.
You will:
- Respond to emails and webforms by providing basic epilepsy information and signposting to our range of support services.
- Answer calls to our helpline encouraging people to open up about their situation so you can assess their needs and level or urgency. Using call handling skills to keep the conversation focused and on track.
- Enable people to access our range of support services by making timely referrals or signposting to external organisations for support where the primary need is not epilepsy related.
- Responding compassionately, while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Identify and responding to safeguarding concerns appropriately in line with our procedures.
- Keep accurate, confidential records, contributing to meaningful insights and real impact.
- Play a key role in promoting our services, reaching out into online communities where epilepsy is discussed to raise awareness of the support available.
- Work alongside our wider services team to help every person feel supported on their epilepsy journey with us.

About you?

- A team player, who also works well independently and takes initiative.
- Committed to safeguarding, confidentiality, and doing what’s right for each person.
Experience with long‑term conditions, disabilities or vulnerable groups is a bonus, but if you don’t yet know much about epilepsy, don’t worry. We’ll train you.
