Healthwatch
Healthwatch was set up in 2013 to champion the rights of health and social care users, and hold the health and social care system to account for how well it engages with the public.
Healthwatch has a remit which covers all publicly funded health and social care services for adults and children.
The Advocacy Project delivers Healthwatch Brent, Healthwatch Westminster and Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea – three of 152 local Healthwatch organisations. We’re building on the important work that’s been done to date, while bringing new insights from the voices of seldom heard and hard to hear groups.
About the role
In this role you will promote Healthwatch to local residents and stakeholders, and support people to get involved in our work. You’ll be a skilled communicator, comfortable networking and engaging with a diverse range of local residents. This role is primarily based in Westminster, and we’re looking for someone who can understand and relate to the diverse local population.
Your role will involve finding innovative ways to present the information the team gathers to key audiences. This will range from face-to-face conversations with partners and funders through to producing imaginative materials. This includes producing accessible reports and presentations to make sure we can maximise the impact of people’s feedback.
You’ll be responsible for a variety of internal and external communications for the Healthwatch Westminster producing impactful communications across all platforms including our website, social media channels and newsletter. You’ll also produce informative and engaging content for our websites, keeping it fresh and relevant for our diverse audiences.
As well as developing our online presence, you’ll own the Westminster engagement plan. This will involve identifying engagement opportunities, working with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure we have good coverage at events across the borough, and getting out into the local community to promote our service and hear from local residents.
Working as part of a small team, you’ll be involved in many aspects of the organisation. You’ll need to be flexible, with a ‘can do’ attitude to meet the evolving needs of the service. You will need to work in close collaboration with our other Healthwatch services in Kensington & Chelsea and Brent, and occasionally support communications and engagement in those areas when the need arises.
Key responsibilities
Engagement
î Develop a vibrant engagement plan for Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea, ensuring that we reach a wide range of residents from different communities, with an emphasis on those most likely to experience poor health outcomes.
î Develop effective relationships with local voluntary organisations and community groups to promote the Healthwatch service and carry out engagement activities and signposting sessions.
î Practice culturally responsive engagement, demonstrating the ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across cultures with diverse protected characteristics, whilst maintaining openness and showing respect to people who have a different social or cultural background to your own.
î Keep abreast of good engagement practice and actively seek out innovative ways to capture and express people’s views/experiences, including engagement techniques appropriate to different audiences.
î Work in partnership with local community groups to support engagement in projects, including coproduction and joint communications.
î Take a lead role in making sure all Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea activities involve people from all sections of the community, including seldom-heard communities.
î Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that volunteers are able to participate in engagement plans.
Communications
î Create engaging and up-to-date digital media content across all digital channels, including web content, Twitter and Facebook.
î Create regular newsletters and e-bulletins, circulating these to key stakeholders to support engagement.
î Design reports, presentations and stationery templates for the Healthwatch service, making sure all materials keep to the Healthwatch brand guidelines.
î Answer and respond appropriately to calls about the service, seeking guidance from the team where appropriate to give signposting support via phone and email.
î Keep up to date with best practice from Healthwatch England, by reading, attending courses and networking.
î Carry out any other tasks needed for the service to run smoothly, as directed by the Healthwatch Manager.

Accountabilities:
Executive and CEO Office Support
• Proactively manage the CEO's diary, inbox and correspondence, exercising independent judgement in prioritising requests and protecting time for strategic priorities.
• Prepare and commission high-quality briefings, background notes, talking points and presentation materials to ensure the CEO is fully prepared for all meetings and engagements.
• Draft, review and quality-assure outgoing correspondence, reports and communications on behalf of the CEO.
• Coordinate and manage complex domestic and international travel arrangements, itineraries, visas and logistics for the CEO and COO, ensuring efficiency and value for money.

• Lead the end-to-end administration of Board of Trustee meetings and sub-committees, including scheduling, preparation of Board papers, agenda coordination and minute-taking, utilising AI. The majority are virtual due to the international nature of the board. In-person meetings take place approx. every 18 months.
• Maintain the governance calendar and ensure all regulatory and statutory reporting deadlines are met in coordination with the Company Secretary, CEO and COO.
• Support the onboarding of new Trustees and maintain up-to-date records of Board membership, terms of office and declarations of interest.
• Build strong working relationships with Trustees, acting as a responsive and reliable point of contact between Board meetings.
• Assist with the organisation of the Annual General Meeting and other governance events.
Leadership Team Coordination
• Coordinate the Global Leadership Team (GLT) meeting cycle, including agenda-setting, papers, actions and follow-up, working closely with the CEO and members of GLT.
• Support the CEO in tracking GLT action items, strategic priorities and key commitments, flagging issues and ensuring accountability.

• Coordinate logistics for high-level external visits, delegations, conferences and events involving the CEO.

Project and Research Support

• Significant experience (typically five or more years) as an Executive Assistant or Personal Assistant supporting a Chief Executive or equivalent senior leaders in a complex and or charitable organisation.
• Demonstrable experience of Board and governance administration, including minuting meetings and managing trustee or director-level relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft high-quality correspondence, briefing papers and presentations to Board or senior stakeholder standard.

About the Role

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist care and support for babies, children and young people who are life limited or life threatened. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, the role will be responsible for securing gifts from high-net-worth-individuals and family foundations. Contributing to a team income target of £1.5m, you will drive the stewardship of existing relationships and cultivation of new prospects, building a robust pipeline of future supporters.

As Philanthropy Manager, you will:
- Report to the Head of Philanthropy and manage a portfolio of existing (4- to 6-figure) and prospective major donors and family foundations, taking time to understand their motivations, interests and capacity to give
- Support a team major giving income target of c.£1.5m through securing five- and six-figure donations and multi-year commitments
- Shape and drive new business activity to secure new high-value prospects and strengthen the philanthropy pipeline
- Leverage networks across trustees, senior leadership and ambassadors
- Develop compelling, high-quality proposals, cases for support and tailored communications that clearly articulate Acorns’ impact and funding priorities

Essential skills and experience:

Freshwater Habitats Trust (FHT) is the UK’s leading conservation charity concerned with the protection of freshwater habitats. We are a friendly, evidence-based organisation that works to protect UK and European freshwater wildlife through practical and innovative nature conservation projects. Our organisation is well respected nationally and internationally, and we work with a network of statutory, NGO and private partners both in the UK and the rest of Europe. Freshwater Habitats Trust was originally founded in 1988 (as Pond Conservation) and has a substantial track-record of originating new ideas through research in freshwater biodiversity conservation to inform and drive our practical conservation and policy work.
FHT has a central office in Oxford, and regional hubs in the north of England and the New Forest and out-posted staff in Cornwall and Wales. We run a range of practical projects throughout the Midlands and work with partners on research and policy projects throughout the UK and internationally. Since 2017 we have seconded staff to the Newt Conservation Partnership (NCP), a new community-benefit society established by NatureSpace, Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (ARC) and FHT, to create and manage habitats for the NatureSpace District Licensing scheme for great crested newts.
Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire are key areas for Freshwater Habitats Trust’s work. Building on the Trust’s historic work in the county and starting in 2021, Oxfordshire was the first region where we began the implementation of the organisation’s new strategic approach to freshwater conservation, the Freshwater Network. The Freshwater Network is the network of high quality freshwater and wetland habitats, and terrestrial habitats generating clean water across the landscape, that together support our most important freshwater wildlife.
Role
This is a strategically important role within the organisation, offering substantial responsibility and an opportunity for the successful candidate to play a leading role in delivering one of the UK's most ambitious freshwater restoration programmes.
The role will primarily focus on the Ock and Thame Farmers: Floodplains and Freshwaters Project, Ock and Thame Farmers: Freshwaters and Floodplain Restoration, one of Defra's pilot Landscape Recovery projects. Having recently completed its two-year development phase, the project is now entering a critical stage of assurance and negotiations with Defra ahead of implementation.
Key areas of work will include ongoing engagement with land managers, supporting informed decision-making and participation, supporting the establishment of governance and legal structures required for delivery, developing agreements and ecosystem service contracts, undertaking land assessments, and refining habitat designs where required. The project currently involves more than 80 land managers across approximately 7,100 hectares of land in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
In addition to the Landscape Recovery project, the role will involve managing a portfolio of smaller projects across the region. This will include supporting staff delivering catchment monitoring programmes and helping to develop a pipeline of habitat creation and Natural Flood Management opportunities.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of project delivery, working closely with the Programme Manager, Finance Manager, Senior Management Team, project partners, consultants, contractors, and participating land managers.
Key responsibilities
Project management:
· Responsible for work planning, defining tasks and allocating resources.
· Resource, manage and support the project team.
· Responsible for the projects’ budgeting and financial management including: (i) regular reporting to the Project Director and Regional Programme Manager; and (ii) implementation of all financial processes for the projects including regular claiming and reporting funder.
· Responsible for all contract and logistics management
· Responsible for ensuring health and safety procedures are followed, implemented and reported on.
· Track and monitor project progress.
· Present to stakeholders, as required.

In the longer term there will be opportunities to influence the development of the Freshwater Network concept as it builds and develops in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and adjacent counties.

Position: Communications and Engagement Officer
Location: Hybrid working arrangements, with at least one day per week in our Reading office
Contract: Permanent full time – 37 hours per week, weekdays
Salary range: within the range of £26,508 to £32,397 per annum
About the role:
Our Communications and Engagement team is responsible for engaging external audiences, supporters and beneficiaries in PACT’s work and fundraising challenges.
As our Communications and Engagement Officer you will play a valuable role in shaping and sharing compelling content that brings PACT’s mission to life. You will:
· produce PACT communications and marketing materials that reflect our values and demonstrate our impact. This includes a programme of social media engagement, regular newsletters, press releases, internal communications, creating content for the website and capturing illuminating lived experiences for the variety of channels.
· ensure that all internal and external communications align to our brand
· raise awareness of the PACT brand and our services
· contribute to PACT’s fundraising targets with appeals and challenges
About you:
To be a successful Communications and Engagement Officer, you’ll have skills and experience in using:
· Social media for organisation and event promotion
· Analytic and insight tools to develop reach and engagement across digital platforms
· WordPress content management systems to create, edit and maintain webpages
· Mailchimp as an email marketing tool
· Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud apps, or similar graphic design platforms
· CRM programs, such as Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge

Salary:£30,500 - £33,500 (inclusive of London weighting), pro-rata
Purpose of the Role
The Communications & Engagement Officer is a key role within Breaking Barriers’ Income and Engagement Directorate. It helps refugees find meaningful employment through communications and fundraising activities that maintain and grow relationships with partners, funders, supporters and relevant influential organisations and individuals.
The post holder reports to the Senior Communications Manager, and works closely with the Head of Public Engagement, Senior Digital Marketing Manager and Fundraising & Partnerships Officer. They also lead or participate in activities involving colleagues across Breaking Barriers’ teams and our refugee clients.
This role contributes to the implementation of our communications, engagement and fundraising strategies, and is closely involved in team planning – including input into operational plans and communications campaigns to steward and inspire key audiences.
The Communications & Engagement Officer is responsible for the planning and creation of day-to-day communications across our owned channels, with a particular focus on social media. They are also responsible for managing social media interactions and outreach, and for creating selected content for Breaking Barriers’ website.
The post holder helps the Senior Communications Manager to ensure that organisational content complies with brand guidelines. And they play a key role in data management – maintaining our multi-media asset bank and the storytelling data within our Salesforce CRM.
This role will suit a team player who is able to build strong relationships across Breaking Barriers to support content creation, ethical storytelling and impact. The post-holder should be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, solution-focused and creative, whilst having a good eye for detail. And, of course, they should have a passion for stewarding, inspiring and mobilising audiences through high-quality, engaging communications.
Key Responsibilities
1. Communications planning and delivery (60%)
· Work with the Senior Communications Manager to manage the communications calendar.
· Collaborate with colleagues across Breaking Barriers, especially the Income & Engagement and Services teams, to source content that reaches, engages, stewards our key audiences – including partners, funders and individual supporters.
· Plan, create and schedule written and multi-media (graphics, videos, photos) content on social media platforms.
· Plan and create or coordinate longer-form content, including case studies, articles and blogs.
· Contribute to the delivery of integrated communications campaigns that support income generation, brand awareness and positioning amongst key audiences.
· Support the continual improvement of our communications by monitoring and evaluating their own work and implementing recommendations.
· Support the development of communications, engagement and fundraising strategies and input into team planning.
2. Community and supporter engagement (30%)
· Manage and engage with our organic social media communities.
· Pro-actively engage with relevant organisations and individuals via social media, in line with agreed strategies.
· Help develop and manage our growing community of storytellers with lived experience of life as a refugee.
3. Other responsibilities (10%)
· Update storytelling data in the Salesforce CRM, and undertake other administrative tasks.
· Take responsibility for maintaining Breaking Barriers’ asset bank of photographs, videos and graphics.
· Advise and support colleagues on compliance with brand guidelines, and create brand resources.
· Represent the Public Engagement team at selected events, including photographing or filming key moments and activities.
· Support other teams with ad-hoc requests for communications support.
· Take a proactive approach to professional development.
· Take on other marketing and communications tasks as required.
Person Specification
Essential
· Demonstrable knowledge of and/or interest in refugee, employment or migration sectors
· Experience in a communications or fundraising role (this doesn't have to be in the UK)
· A demonstrable understanding of key communications and fundraising principles, whether through direct experience or study, and including:
o Understanding audiences
o User journeys
o Developing key messaging
o Audience stewardship
o Working with brand guidelines
· Experience of creating high quality campaigns or content to inspire or drive action
· Experience creating written and multi-media (photography/graphics/video) content for social media, websites and/or emails
· Strong copywriting, editing and proofing skills, and the ability to tailor content for different audiences and channels
· Excellent relationship-building skills, and confidence working with colleagues at all levels of seniority
· Ability to work on own initiative, take responsibility for work, and learn from challenges and successes
· A proactive and creative approach to problem solving and idea generation
· Comfortable within a fast-paced team and able to prioritise multiple projects
· Ability to pay close attention to detail, to maintain communications quality and accuracy
· Experience with administrative, team communication and workload management applications, preferably including the Microsoft Office 365 suite.
· Experience with one or more of the following:
o Design tools such as Canva
o Photography and film editing
o Website CMS software
o Email broadcast platforms
o Social media scheduling platforms

· Lived Experience of Breaking Barriers’ cause
