The Role

As Senior Fundraising Manager (Major Giving), you will lead the development and implementation of an ambitious new Major Giving strategy to secure and maximise funds from high-net-worth individuals. Your focus will be on nurturing relationships with existing donors while identifying and engaging new prospects, driving initiatives including Giving Circles and Development Boards.

You will work closely with senior leadership, Trustees, and key stakeholders to craft compelling cases for support, aligning with YMCA’s ambitious new housing strategy and broader organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of major donors, developing tailored engagement strategies to inspire long-term support.
• Plan and execute donor stewardship activities, including bespoke events, face-to-face meetings, and personalised communications.
• Work with senior leadership and Trustees to build strong relationships with philanthropists and high-value supporters.
• Develop and deliver compelling proposals, impact reports, and updates to donors.
• Identify and research prospective major donors, developing strategies to engage them effectively.
• Implement YMCA’s ambitious Major Giving Strategy which projects an ever more important focus for this area.
• Oversee the Major Giving income and expenditure budget, providing accurate forecasts and performance reports.
• Collaborate with colleagues across fundraising teams to align strategies and maximise income opportunities.
• Ensure robust data management within the CRM database, adhering to GDPR and best practices.
• Work cross-functionally to develop new fundraising products and giving opportunities, ensuring high-value philanthropy is embedded across the organisation.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated, strategic, and personable fundraising professional with a proven track record of securing major gifts. You will be confident in building relationships with high-net-worth individuals and passionate about delivering exceptional donor experiences.

You will have:

• Significant experience in major donor fundraising, with a track record of securing five- and six-figure gifts.
• Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to engage and influence high-value supporters.

Role Purpose:

Working closely with the Director of Programmes to manage and help develop a portfolio of funds across Access’s enterprise grant, blended finance and capacity building work, the role holder will be the day-to-day point of contact for a portfolio of social investors, enterprise grant providers and other organisations funded by Access.

It is anticipated that this role holder may particularly specialise in the management of enterprise development funds, and those that are more local (place-based) throughout England.

The role will balance responsibilities including supporting and assessing funding proposals, managing performance via regular data submission and meetings, providing support from within and beyond Access’s own team, supporting peer learning between delivery partners and seeking to ensure that lessons and experience across Access’s programmes are maximised.

You will be part of a small organisation of around 15 people that take a flexible, collaborative and trust-based approach to work.

Key Responsibilities:

 Relationship Management

• Be the day to day point of contact for a portfolio of organisations who are applying for funding and/or delivering Access’s programmes.
• Build strong productive and supportive working relationships with delivery partners, in a spirit of collaborative endeavour and learning.
• Maintain comprehensive and clear records on Access’s systems of the status of the relationship and any key questions or issues which are currently being addressed.
• Seek to build an understanding of the underling impact of the delivery of our funds on the work of the charities and social enterprises they exist to support.

Performance Management

• Following an agreed pattern and schedule, regularly meet and speak to the delivery partners to receive updates on performance, and key issues.
• Ensure robust financial management of funds, including monitoring deployment targets of partners, managing budgets and the process for drawing funds from Access.
• Ensure that regular performance data is submitted to a high quality and in an agreed format with each delivery partner. Perform checks to ensure accuracy and check understanding with the delivery partner.
• Ensuring the uploading of data into Access’s management systems and producing the required performance reports for internal and external use.
• Use this performance data to analyse performance within each delivery partner and across the portfolio, including supporting the publication of a quarterly dashboard. Work closely with colleagues to identify trends and understand reasons for those trends.
• Work with delivery partners to address areas of under-performance, escalating issues where necessary to the Director of Programmes and Access committees.

Guidance and Support

• Use performance data and insight from different partners within the portfolio to identify opportunities to support partners with, for example, peer support around areas of good practice.
• Offer expertise within Access and across partner organisations to support delivery partners in particular aspects of their work.
• Where challenges are common across many delivery partners, work with colleagues and the Director of Programmes to develop shared solutions, tools, or learning resources which might address those challenges.
• Support the design and delivery of external events, including peer-learning events.

Facilitating and supporting decision making

• Reviewing and co-developing plans and proposals in collaboration with partners.
• Writing papers including assessment papers for Access committees, presenting clear information and context to aid understanding and decision making.
• Present analysis based on performance data and qualitative insight to inform decisions within the team about ongoing relationships with delivery partners.
• Actively participating in the peer-review of assessment papers produced by other colleagues in the Programmes team.

Supporting learning and programme design

• From data and insight gained through performance management, work with colleagues across Access to identify common themes within the portfolio to aid Access’s learning and influencing objectives.
• Work with the Director of Impact and Evaluation to analyse performance data and make it available for publishing in various forms.
• Based on learning gathered across the portfolio within the Programme team and across all of Access, work with the Director of Programmes to identify how programmes can be improved and developed.

Skills and Experience:

 Knowledge & Experience

• Experience of managing complex relationships with multiple stakeholders, of setting and monitoring KPIs, holding delivery partners to account and seeking continual performance improvement.
• Familiarity with using Excel, and databases and/or CRM systems for managing large quantities of data, including bulk uploading and creating reports to aid analysis.

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to build strong collaborative working relationships with partners at all levels including Trustees, CEOs and delivery teams.

The Role 
 
As Deputy Shop Manager at our shop in Skipton, you will  manage the day-to-day operation of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager, including managing a team of volunteers, ensuring accurate accounting and handling of assets, delivering high standards of customer service, and adhering to all charity policies and procedures. You will lead by example and ensure that volunteers, supporters, donors, and customers understand how their contributions are making a difference to the lives of people in Yorkshire and beyond. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Play an active part in running our shop in Skipton, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

• Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity. 

• Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation. 

• Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a positive retail environment. 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received). 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes.

River Thames Boat Project

Job title: Fundraising Manager

Salary: £35,000 pro rata

Hours: 3 days (22.5 hours) per week

Location: Home based with expectation of regular attendance at office (Teddington), some evenings and weekends for events and funder meetings when required.

Summary

This exciting new role will raise the funds to enable The River Thames Boat Project to expand our cruises and education programme on the River Thames, and cover our annual running costs.

Through your fundraising expertise, you will have a proven track record of raising capital funds, building relationships with individuals, community groups, trusts and foundations and other donors to achieve and exceed annual capital and income targets. You will have the skills to create compelling proposals and appeals that successfully engage and attract donations from new and existing supporters.

Background

Established in 1988, our charity's mission is to make the River Thames accessible to all.

We provide opportunities for individuals to experience river and waterways environments to enhance their personal, social, and educational wellbeing.

Using our fully wheelchair-accessible community boats we deliver educational programmes for children and young people across London and the South East, and therapeutic cruises for people of all ages who have limited access to the Thames due to health issues, disabilities, isolation or social exclusion.

A small staff team of four and more than 100 volunteers support the charity. In 2021, we received The Queens Award for Voluntary Service. The charity, more than thirty five years old, is run by a volunteer Board of Trustees.

We rely on grants, donations and community fundraising to subsidise the cost of our charitable activities on the River Thames.

We are seeking a fundraising professional to grow our charitable income across all streams (grants, foundations, corporate sponsors), raise significant capital funds, reinvigorate our members program, diversify our fundraising income and establish a volunteer fundraising committee.

As Fundraising Manager you will also be responsible for marketing the charity to prospective clients through mailings, social media and other routes.

What you'll be doing

1. Develop and execute a fundraising strategy that aligns with the charity's business plan and future ambitions
2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing funders
3. Research potential trust and foundation funders, write compelling bids and ensure effective reporting and stewardship
4. Revitalise the charity's members' program (Friends of RTBP)
5. Create and lead a volunteer fundraising committee to support our initiatives.
6. Ensure effective records are kept and a database developed for fundraising and the members' program
7. Ensure all fundraising is compliant with GDPR and other legal and best practice standards
8. Develop and implement marketing plans for the charity's cruises and education work
9. Attend the Trustee finance and fundraising committee and produce reports on activities and income as required

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience in raising capital and income for small to medium size charities from multiple sources
2. Self-motivated and proactive with great interpersonal skills to work with staff members, volunteers, trustees, and external funders from individual to corporate donors
3. Proven ability to research funders, write compelling bids and manage relationships with funders

5. An interest or link with the Thames or environmental activities is desirable

• Good knowledge of Wordpress websites, to be able to update the site when necessary.

Introduction

Afield is a brand new charity responding to environmental injustice. We do this by working with communities to rewild disadvantaged urban neighbourhoods; and by supporting artists to undertake ecological research. This exciting and demanding role will be right at the heart of making everything happen!

Objectives

You will work alongside Afield’s two co-founders to define and run the urban wilding and arts grants programmes, including managing the cohort of grantees. We are looking for dynamism, energy and experience of grant management to help us launch the first round of grants and a support programme.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the two co-founders you will set up the arts research and wilding programmes. This will include launching and running opencall and selection processes, and the cohort support programmes. Once established you will lead subsequent programmes, and plan for future cohorts. You will be:

• Feeding into the design of the arts & wilding programmes

• Taking responsibility for, and running, the arts grants grants and wilding programme (including involvement in the selection of grantees, continual learning and evaluation)

• Liaising with partners on programme delivery (eg. local councils for wilding)

• Managing selectors and mentors, supporting peer learning, and organising workshops for both programmes

• Taking responsibility for managing the cohorts

• Working with a second team member (to be recruited) to promote the programme

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who is: 

• Empathetic, has a positive attitude and a desire to help our grantees

• Energetic with a can-do, self-sufficient attitude, and with the ability to independently manage a busy workload, multiple deadlines and priorities

• Confident in their ability whilst self-aware and committed to ongoing development

• Interested (and perhaps experienced) in nature, ecology or the environment

We would also like to work with someone who has:

• Experience of running a grants or funded cohort programme (ideally in either arts grants or a pioneer-style programme)

• Ability and comfort in creating structure out of ambiguity; identifying challenges and opportunities; and expressing clear proposals for change

• Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written

• Good analytical and project management skills, and strong competency in setting up and using technology such as an application management platform

• Experience of line management or managing contractors. This is not essential, as there will not initially be full line management responsibility, but would be a benefit.

Compensation and benefits

• 4 days per week role, for which the salary is £34,500 (FTE: £43,000)

• 21 company holiday days (increasing with the length of service) in addition to 8 bank holidays plus discretionary Christmas closure days each year

We are looking for an enthusiastic Finance Manager, who will be responsible for all aspects of financial management and HR administration. You will be well organised, able to work on you own initiative and be experieced in writing clear and engaging reports tailored to a non-financial audience. 

The main responsibilities of the role are:

• Provide strategic financial leadership, including long range planning, budgeting and forecasts.
• Support Board and Committees (Investment, Finance and Grants), preparing and presenting papers and managing grant-giving process. 
• Lead the annual audit.
• Undertake day-to-day book-keeping.
• Oversee HR operations including payroll and pension administration.
• Ensure compliance with employment law and maintain HR policies.
• Review and manage insurance policies. 

You will be a qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPFA) with at least three years’ experience, ideally with charity experience.  You will also have experience of HR policies and management.

Job Purpose

6. Fundraising & Grant Management

• Collaborate with the Head of Trust and Programme Managers to identify and apply for grants and funding opportunities.
• Build partnerships with sponsors, local businesses and charitable foundations.

7. Club Integration

• Work cosely with all football club departments, including first team players and staff, media and marketing, facilities and catering, and Academy to ensure alignment between Community Trust and Club.

The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland are looking to hire a new member of staff to help co-ordinate and deliver the final two regional research frameworks as part of the Scottish Archaeological Research Framework (ScARF) project.

The role helps the Society deliver its programme activity to support its mission and vision. This role will include day-to-day management of both the North East of Scotland Archaeological Research Framework and the Forth Valley and Fife Archaeological Research Framework. The role will also contribute to other research-related activities related to the Scottish Archaeological Research Framework. The role will report to the Society Head of Research and have the support of the NESARF and Forth Valley and Fife Project Steering Groups and the authority to run the project on behalf of the Project Advisory Group. The role will help deliver Society aims relating to external strategies as required.

Role: Research Manager – full-time, fixed term for three years

Contract: 36 months (three years)

Salary: £35,400 per annum, with an additional 10% pension contribution
