You’ll be part of the Trust’s Engagement Team but will work with colleagues across the Trust to establish an innovative and impactful programme of events and activities that will support our commitment to nature’s recovery.

Main Purpose Of Job:

Project 41 accommodates individuals within the homeless pathway and as part of Oxfordshire’s Homelessness Alliance. These individuals have support needs including substance use, mental health and offending histories, but are able to live in dispersed accommodation in Oxford with a higher level of independence than in our hostels. The successful candidate will understand the trauma people using our services have experienced, and have a compassionate and assertive approach to building relationships. At Project 41 you will provide high quality support service provision, work with clients to ensure suitable and timely move on, ensure the health and safety and safeguarding of service users and colleagues, work in a psychologically informed way, and develop and maintain effective partnerships with relevant agencies.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

To ensure the effective delivery of high quality support, housing management and resettlement opportunities.

To develop effective professional relationships with service users that is trauma informed and compassionate, and which empowers and motivates our service users to make positive changes in their lives.

To work in partnership with support agencies to coordinate a holistic response to an individuals needs; this may include substance use services, probation, health professionals and adult social care.

To lead on identifying and applying for suitable move on accommodation, and providing support throughout the move and whilst settling in to new accommodation.

To assess risk and suitability of referrals for the service.

To be responsible for creating and actioning person centred, strengths based support plans, and identifying and working towards suitable move on.

To assess and manage risk for individuals and in the service, creating and maintaining risk assessments for all clients.

Reporting any safeguarding concerns without delay in line with procedures.

Work with the Team Manager and colleagues to achieve agreed contractual performance targets and organisational targets and objectives.

Maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment across accommodation services; this may including room cleaning and clearance.

Manage challenging situations in line with procedures and to ensure the safety of yourself and others.

Ensure that IT systems are updated as required and concise record keeping is completed promptly.

To participate in the induction of and support new team members.

To contribute to a positive team culture which is inspiring and motivational.

About us

We are a long-established UK research institution with charitable status and accounting operations in both the UK and East Africa. With an annual turnover of over £1 million, our finances span two entities and a range of restricted and unrestricted funds, consolidated for reporting. We are looking for a qualified accountant to join us as a contractor in a part-time, ongoing capacity to strengthen the running of our finance function.

The role

Our accountant in the East Africa office handles the day-to-day transactions — raising invoices, recording expenses and paying supplier bills. You will work alongside them, providing the qualified oversight, payment control and monthly discipline that keep the finance function running well, and supporting their development along the way.

It is a varied role that combines hands-on accuracy with oversight and coaching. In practice, you will:

• Support, guide and coach our accountant so that accounting entries are made correctly and consistently, building their skills over time.

• Run payment preparation and approval process in the UK entity, approving payment runs for release by local signatories.

• Financial management of project funds: accounting, expense management, funds transfers and accurate financial reporting.

• Review monthly results and report, examining the Statement of Financial Activities and underlying entries, and tracking performance against budget.

• Own the budgeting process, maintaining and updating the existing annual budget and monitoring it each month, and reporting quarterly to funders.

• Run a reliable monthly close and provide cover for our accountant during leave or absence to keep the accounting running.

• Lead on risk, taking an active interest in risk assessment, management and internal financial controls, working with compliance officer for local regulatory compliance.

• Attend and co-ordinate the finance and development meeting, support Companies House and Charity Commissions returns and updates.

• Administrative support for grant applications and management of these.

Key requirements

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CIPFA), or a finalist with strong relevant experience.

• Right to work in the UK.

• Proficient in Xero, and either proficient in Joiin or a similar consolidation system such as Hyperion and able to learn it quickly. Familiarity with payment platforms (desirable).

• Sound understanding of payment controls, dual authorisation and segregation of duties.

• Experience of maintaining a budget and reviewing monthly performance against it.

• Detail-focused and hands-on, with the judgement to review, oversee and coach a colleague.

• Charity or non-profit experience is useful but not essential, including experience of managing project funds, expenses and reporting to funders.

What does success look like

In this role, success means:

• Accounting is accurate and correctly recorded across both entities.

• Monthly review and reporting is completed reliably and on time.

• The budget process is mastered and embedded in monthly reporting, with performance tracked against budget categories.

• Dual authorisation of key processes is operating successfully.

• Key processes in both entities are learnt, so you can cover for the East Africa accountant in the event of absence.

• The payment process is smooth, reviewed, and presented to the Director for second approval.

• Risk assessment is formalised and internal financial controls are maintained.

This role would suit an accountant who wants to broaden their range of experience, or an experienced accountant from the commercial or non-profit sector who now wishes to work part-time and contribute to the smooth running of a respected institution.

Our systems

We use Xero for our accounting and Joiin for consolidated reporting. Both are already implemented and stable. Proficiency in Joiin is ideal; otherwise, experience of a similar system and a readiness to learn this software quickly is an advantage.

We’re currently looking to welcome a new Communications and Campaigns Officer to join our team at the Society of Authors (SoA) which is the UK's largest trade union for all types of writers, illustrators and literary translators. We’ve been advising authors and speaking out for the profession since 1884. 

Role overview

To support and deliver the internal and external communications and campaigns with the goal of enhancing the SoA’s profile, engage stakeholders, and promote key initiatives. The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience in content creation, media and policy monitoring, digital marketing, and multimedia communications across a range of channels, including newsletters and social media. Objectives • Help to ensure consistent, high-quality communications and campaigns across all channels. • Provide support for brand visibility and audience engagement through digital marketing. • Provide support for delivering content via The Author magazine and outgoing mailers. • Support organisational campaigns, events, and key initiatives. • Monitor media coverage and policy developments, and evaluates website and communications performance. 

Key responsibilities

• Media monitoring and reporting: monitor media for relevant coverage and compile regular media reports and summaries, maintaining media contact lists and databases.

• The Author magazine and mailers: liaise with The Author magazine production team, contributors and internal departments, support with the production schedules and deadlines. Oversee the administration and invoicing for The Author advertising and subscribers. Support with distribution and performance tracking (e.g. open rates, click through rates). Provide support for development of membership mailouts including proofing. 

• Digital marketing and social media: contribute to the development of digital marketing campaigns across platforms – create and schedule engaging content, monitor engagement metrics and optimise content performance.

• Design and visual communication: produce basic graphics for digital and print (e.g. social posts, newsletters, flyers, banners). Support with the layout and visual design of newsletters and publications. Work with approved templates and design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe suite basics).

• Video and multimedia production: create and edit short-form video content for social media, newsletters, and website. Support with the filming of events, interviews, or promotional material for SoA events and campaigns. Add captions, branding, and basic effects to videos.

• Event promotion: support the Events and Engagement team with the communications and digital marketing plans for events, supporting with the creation of promotional materials (digital and print), proof events copy, ensure visibility of promotion on our website.

• Website: contribute to the content management of the SoA and Human Authored websites, updating content and posts as needed.

About The Team

Our Legal Service provides specialist legal knowledge across Shelter through four teams covering Community Legal advice, Strategic Litigation, and Legal Support Team. You will be part of our Community Legal Team, who are based across our 11 hub locations and work alongside hub colleagues every day to fight housing injustice and deliver systemic change relating to housing practice in our local communities.

Shelter Sheffield has a housing legal contract as well as a contract to deliver the County Court Housing Loss Prevention Advice Service at Sheffield and Doncaster. You will be based in the Sheffield community hub which has the overall aim of preventing homelessness and improving homelessness services for the people of South Yorkshire.

The advice and support team in Sheffield has been established for over 20 years, taking a holistic approach and focuses on emergency homelessness, support for children, families and people experiencing domestic abuse, as well as those with multiple and complex needs.

The Woodland Trust is looking for an Engaging Communities Officer - Trees for All at our Hainault Site. As an Engaging Communities Officer, you will support the delivery of the Woodland Trust's Trees for All programme in northeast London as part of the Woodland Trust's Central Region team. You will work with communities, partners and stakeholders across the London Borough of Redbridge to help more people connect with trees, woods and nature.

The Role:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups, schools, volunteers, local authorities and delivery partners to support Trees for All objectives across northeast London.
• Plan and deliver inclusive community engagement projects, events and tree-planting activities that connect people with trees, woods and nature.

The Exempt Accommodation Support Service is based at our main hub in Digbeth but provides outreach support across the city. We are looking for project workers to provide flexible, person-centred support to people aged 25 years plus who are precariously accommodated, have a history of homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless. It will primarily be supporting people living in exempt accommodation who have support needs relating to substance use, physical health and mental health.

The aims of this service are to provide additional support to improve access and sustainment of suitable accommodation for people engaging in structured drug and alcohol treatment, to reduce the scale of unmet housing need for this group of clients and to build evidence of housing-related need and effective interventions. The service will provide a range of practical support around finances, health and wellbeing, access to volunteering or training opportunities and integration into local communities as well as supporting continued engagement with treatment and tenancy sustainment.

This is a part office-based, part community-based role with a requirement to travel to accommodation providers and outreach sites. Travel expenses will be paid for any journeys undertaken.

Key tasks (selection of):

1. Provide a person-centred service to individuals, taking a psychologically informed approach, advising and supporting to ensure that clients are given choice and control about how their support is delivered.

2. Assist with practical support such as travel issues, settling into accommodation and addressing any immediate accommodation issues.

3. Ensure individuals have access to key services, including health care, substance misuse, and wellbeing services.
