The Geological Society Publishing House has an exciting opportunity within the publishing operations team for a ‘Publishing Platform Lead’ to maintain our established flagship publishing platform the Lyell Collection.

An independent and international publisher, we are dedicated to providing a high-quality service to geoscientists globally and any surplus is invested to support our discipline. We publish a diverse range of books and journals on the Lyell Collection, with over 10,000 pages of new peer-reviewed geoscience literature being made available every year.
Overall responsibilities / requirements …
To oversee the smooth running of the Society’s publishing platform, which showcases our portfolio of online titles. Reporting to the Head of Publishing Operations (HoPO), you will be chiefly responsible for the management, support and maintenance of the Atypon powered Lyell Collection platform.
You will collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless operations and stay up to date with the latest emerging platform technologies. You will be responsible for maintaining the Society’s online publishing platforms, so an understanding of a range of standard integrations, workflows, html and XML is essential.
Key accountabilities
Platform maintenance
- Oversee and maintain the Atypon Web Admin Tool (WAT) for the Society’s scholarly book and journal platform.
- Manage a queue of platform maintenance and change requests, including triage, feasibility analysis, testing and quality assurance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for reporting platform issues to Atypon (the hosting provider), managing communications, and monitoring the support ticket system to ensure timely resolution.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot platform issues reported internally and communicate resolution statuses.
- Support development of new platform features and assist with implementation and QA.
- Maintain, validate, edit, and troubleshoot JATS XML while staying current with JATS and NISO standards and ensuring vendor compliance.
- Set up new pages and journal/book series sites within the platform as needed, ensuring all new website content is consistent with site templates and branding.
- Ensure that any new developments are tested and work as per requirements, utilizing the test facilities of the platform via sandbox areas.
Third party tools and services
- Act as the point of contact with vendors who provide supporting or downstream services for the Lyell Collection, e.g. CrossRef, Digital Science, indexing services etc.
- Oversee the smooth deposit of selected content via Zipline into the GeoScienceWorld (GSW) platform, hosted by Silverchair. This is published via multiresolution doi on both the Lyell Collection and GSW.
Accessibility
- Manage web accessibility compliance in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors by overseeing the implementation of necessary improvements in line with publishing standards and directives.
- Check that any changes in XML tagging or online display meet accessibility requirements.

- Experience with STM publishing platforms (Atypon greatly preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of JATS (and BITS) XML and HTML
- Experience at working with CrossRef and content registration
- Experience with web accessibility standards (WCAG), including their application in evaluating, developing, or maintaining accessible digital content and platforms.

Role Overview

About You
It is essential that youhave significant experience working in a health charity, leading a team that delivers programmes to support healthcare professionals. This includes developing education, driving engagement, and leading quality improvement initiatives across primary and secondary care.
You will be an experienced leader with a strong track record of managing teams and influencing senior stakeholders to improve standards of care. This is not a clinical role; we are seeking someone with proven experience leading healthcare professional support, education, engagement, and quality improvement programmes within a charity setting, rather than someone whose experience is primarily clinical.

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail.
In this role, there is plenty of scope for a hybrid approach working from home, although there will be times when you will need to be at face-to-face meetings with your team or our partner agencies. There is a requirement for you to attend a minimum of 24 in person days a year, and the charity’s mandatory ‘All Staff Together’ days which take place four times a year at our offices in Hatfield or a location in London. About the Role

The Role
The Careers Adviser will travel across East Sussex Regions to a broad range of school and college settings, delivering creative and inclusive Personal Careers Guidance, as well as assemblies and drop-in sessions as required.
Each student and each learning environment will be unique, so the opportunity lends itself well to candidates who enjoy traveling and working in varied locations, meeting people from diverse backgrounds, and educating people of all abilities.
You will routinely liaise with Careers Leaders and senior school/ college staff to arrange and deliver activities for students during the school day. Whilst most delivery will take place between 8:30am and 4pm, travel before and after these times will be required and occasional attendance at parents’ and options evenings will also be required, but you will be given time off in lieu where this is applicable.
We would require you to work five days-a-week, term time only, with a pro rata holiday entitlement. If you would prefer part-time only employment (minimum of three days a week), this can be negotiated.

BACKGROUND
The Realising the African Disability Protocol (RAD-P) project seeks to strengthen the participation of persons with disabilities – particularly the most excluded – in governance and decision-making structures in Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The project aims to ensure that persons with disabilities influence inclusive policies and local development processes in alignment with the African Disability Protocol (ADP).
RAD-P focuses on building the capacity of Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), particularly OPD umbrella organisations, to undertake policy analysis, advocacy, and effective engagement with government duty bearers. The project places strong emphasis on women’s leadership, youth participation, and gender equality within the disability movement, and promotes collaboration between OPDs, civil society organisations, and government institutions.
As part of this work, OPDs in Zambia have pre-identified key national policies for review. Sightsavers is therefore seeking a consultant to support OPDs to review these policies, strengthen understanding of disability-related policy frameworks, and develop clear policy messages to influence disability inclusion.
What the consultant will be focusing on: Policy review & OPD Capacity Building
The consultancy will support OPDs in Zambia to:
- Review selected national policies through a disability inclusion lens
- Strengthen understanding of global, regional, and national disability policy frameworks
- Build practical skills to conduct policy reviews independently
- Develop evidence-based policy messages and advocacy strategies to influence stakeholders
The assignment is designed to be highly participatory and capacity-building in nature.
Responsibilities
The consultant will:
- Design and deliver training sessions for OPDs on policy review methodologies
- Facilitate practical, hands-on policy review exercises using pre-identified Zambian policies
- Provide an overview of relevant global, regional, and national policy frameworks, including UNCRPD, SDGs, and the African Disability Protocol
- Support OPDs to identify gaps in reviewed policies and develop disability-inclusive recommendations
- Work with OPDs to develop key policy messages and an engagement strategy for influencing duty bearers and stakeholders
- Document the process and produce a comprehensive final report
- Key policies to be reviewed include:
- Citizens Economic Empowerment Act, 2006
- Mental Health Act, 2019 (Section 4)

DELIVERABLES
The consultant will be expected to provide:
- Training materials on policy review methodologies tailored to OPDs
- A summary of identified policy gaps and recommendations to strengthen disability inclusion

- A final report covering the training delivered, policy review process, findings, and recommendations
Skills and Experience
The successful consultant will demonstrate:
- An advanced degree in Social Policy, Development Studies, Law, Disability Studies, or a related field
- Proven experience in policy analysis and review, particularly relating to disability inclusion
- Strong knowledge of international and regional frameworks, including UNCRPD, SDGs, and the African Disability Protocol
- Experience designing and delivering training workshops for OPDs or civil society organisations
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate participatory processes and capacity building for marginalised groups

We’re excited to be recruiting a Head of Supporter Insight and Experience to lead WWF-UK’s understanding of its supporters and ensure that insight is consistently used to shape strategy, journeys and decisions across the organisation.
In this role, you’ll lead and shape WWF UK’s supporter insight and experience, owning the frameworks, intelligence and evidence that guide organisational strategy, supporter journeys, investment decisions, product development and innovation. You’ll build and develop a cross organisational insight capability in a new Supporter Experience Directorate - integrating qualitative research, quantitative analysis, audience segmentation, digital analytics and journey intelligence.
You will play a key change leadership role, embedding insight led ways of working across Fundraising, Communications, Digital and Technology, and championing a shared understanding of supporter needs and behaviours. A core part of the role is driving digital experience improvement and working collaboratively across teams to inform system development, UX design and experience innovation.
Skills and experience
You’ll bring the skills and experience needed to succeed in this role, including:
• Proven experience leading organisation-wide qualitative, quantitative and digital insight programmes
• Strong understanding of supporter or customer behaviours, needs and motivations, with proven experience in supporter segmentation and audience frameworks, as well as journey analysis, mapping and reporting.
• Experience of leading innovation pipelines, including developing business cases for improvements or investment and managing initiatives, from concept to delivery.
• Strategic insight leadership and communication skills, able to turn complex evidence into clear organisational direction, priorities and recommendations.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and embed insight led ways of working across fundraising, communications, technology and product teams.
• Strong people leadership skills, with experience building, leading and supporting insight, research or innovation teams.
• Proven ability to deliver insight and experience improvements in a fundraising, membership, charity or purpose led context (B2C and/or B2B).
• Degree level qualification, or equivalent experience, demonstrating strong capability in insight, data, digital, marketing or analytical disciplines.

This role is hybrid with a minimum 40% of your contracted hours spent at our beautiful UK head office, the Living Planet Centre in Woking, Surrey, where you’ll hot desk among trees and gardens.

Policy and Public Affairs Officer

Position: Policy and Public Affairs Officer
Salary: £27,953 to £33,130 per annum
Location: Hybrid, with travel to Glasgow office at least one day per week

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to shape policy and influence decision makers at a pivotal time for children’s social care in Scotland.
Working within a UK wide Policy and Campaigns team, you will lead work in Scotland to influence legislation, policy and practice. You will ensure policy positions and campaigns are evidence based, drawing on research, stakeholder engagement and lived experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing evidence based policy positions and solutions to influence national and local decision making
- Drafting high quality briefings, consultation responses and reports
- Leading research projects and analysing data to inform policy and campaigning prioritie
- Building and maintaining relationships with MSPs, government officials, regulators and sector partners
- Planning and delivering events such as roundtables, focus groups and parliamentary engagement activity
- Producing written content for websites, social media and member communications
- Supporting participation activity, including engagement with young people to inform influencing work
You will also play a central role in major research initiatives, including large scale surveys, ensuring outputs are robust, credible and impactful.
About You
You will bring strong experience in policy development, research and influencing, ideally within children’s social care or a related field.
You will have:
- Experience of developing policy and drafting reports and consultation responses
- Experience of campaigning, lobbying or working with parliamentary processes
- Strong research and analytical skills, including working with quantitative and qualitative data
- An understanding of Scottish Government and parliamentary structures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex issues clearly
- Experience of building effective stakeholder relationships at senior levels
- A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
Knowledge of foster care or children’s social care issues would be highly beneficial.
