Role Overview
You’ll work with the Director of Services, Research and Evidence to develop and implement a healthcare professional services strategy in accordance with the charity’s strategic aims. You will deliver the charity’s strategic leadership of the IBD UK Alliance and associated programmes of work as well as the implementation of the National Primary Care Diagnostic Pathway for lower gastrointestinal symptoms, and building a support offer for IBD nurses. You’ll be leading the strategic planning and budgeting for the Health Professional Support & Standards team, providing visible and influential leadership to the charity and driving a culture of high-performance, collaboration and continuous improvement.
About You
It is essential that youhave significant experience working in a health charity, leading a team that delivers programmes to support healthcare professionals. This includes developing education, driving engagement, and leading quality improvement initiatives across primary and secondary care.
You will be an experienced leader with a strong track record of managing teams and influencing senior stakeholders to improve standards of care. This is not a clinical role; we are seeking someone with proven experience leading healthcare professional support, education, engagement, and quality improvement programmes within a charity setting, rather than someone whose experience is primarily clinical.

Our Location
We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail.
In this role, there is plenty of scope for a hybrid approach working from home, although there will be times when you will need to be at face-to-face meetings with your team or our partner agencies. There is a requirement for you to attend a minimum of 24 in person days a year, and the charity’s mandatory ‘All Staff Together’ days which take place four times a year at our offices in Hatfield or a location in London. There will be a requirement for significant travel and overnight stays around the UK (once a month on average).

The Head of Finance is a full-time, on-site/hybrid role based at Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield. The role will lead robust financial governance, reporting and risk management frameworks that ensure probity, transparency and compliance, while enabling confident, informed decision-making. The Head of Finance will work collaboratively across the organisation to develop and monitor business planning, financial strategy and resource allocation; supporting artistic ambition, operational delivery and long-term financial sustainability, and ensuring the highest standards of delivery against agreed targets.
Personal Attributes
• At least 2 years’ experience in a senior finance or financial management role.
• Experience of managing budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
• Experience of preparing or overseeing statutory accounts and working with auditors.
• Understanding of financial governance, risk management and internal controls.

Salary: Up to £37,000 per annum dependant on experience.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Hours are flexible and usually fall between 8am and 6pm, with occasional evening work (4 to 6 times annually) required to support Board and the Board’s Finance sub-committee meetings. No overtime is payable but time off in lieu may be taken with agreement of line manager.
Holidays: Annual holiday entitlement is 20 days per year plus bank holiday entitlement. This increases to 25 days per year after the first year’s service.

RSTMH is a charity and membership society for those working or interested in tropical medicine and global health, and currently have around 2,000 members and Fellows from more than 100 countries, with a network of more than 10,000 involved with our work in some way. We are looking for an experienced Membership Manager who will help us manage all aspects of our membership programme. This involves maintaining high levels of retention and developing and delivering new recruitment strategies for members across the world.
The role will also focus on developing membership journey programmes to ensure our members receive a top quality service from the Society and that all membership processes are undertaken with efficiency, energy and effectiveness.
The Membership Manager will also play a crucial role in ensuring that we are promoting RSTMH, and its membership offer, to our members and supporters. This person would be the first point of contact for our members and so must be professional, a sound communicator and efficient in their approach.
Part of this role involves creating policies and processes to ensure members feel valued at each stage of their journey with RSTMH, developing new marketing products and materials for recruiting and retaining members where necessary.
The successful applicant will have membership management experience within a relevant charity or learned society and will relish the opportunity to take on a new challenge, working on their own initiative for much of the time.
The role
- Lead on developing and implementing current strategies to increase members of RSTMH, including monitoring and evaluating performance against plans and KPIs
- Analyse, identify and develop plans to optimise member journeys
- Manage enquiries from current/prospective members in a professional, timely manner, to agreed service targets
- Cultivate strong relationships with members and understand their specific needs so that RSTMH can support them most effectively via targeted communications

Person specification
