The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) is seeking a Head of Membership to lead and develop the RCSLT’s membership function, ensuring cohesive delivery across membership operations, member support and member journeys.

The RCSLT is the professional body for speech and language therapists across the UK. The RCSLT has over 24,000 members and employs around 65 staff predominately based in a London office. The RCSLT also has offices in Belfast, Edinburgh, and Cardiff.

We aim to promote better education and training for speech and language therapists and provide information to our members and the public about speech and language therapy.
The role
The Membership Team delivers an indispensable, personalised and insight‑driven experience. Our vision is for every therapist to feel supported, connected and valued through exceptional service. We empower members at all stages of their careers by linking them to the right resources and communities and supporting them through key transitions. Reporting to Director of Membership and Communications, the post holder has delegated authority for operational membership decision‑making, acting as the organisational steward of the Member Value Proposition and representing member needs across the organisation. The post holder is to lead and develop the RCSLT’s membership function, ensuring cohesive delivery across membership operations, member support and member journeys.
The role is also responsible for implementing a clear, insight‑informed membership plan that supports retention, value for money and the effective delivery of the organisation’s core membership fee income stream, ensuring high‑quality experiences and strong cross‑organisational alignment.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a strategic and collaborative Head of Membership who can lead and evolve our membership and engagement function. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of membership lifecycle management, value proposition development and insight-led decision-making, with the ability to translate data into clear priorities and improved member experiences. They will have proven experience leading teams and managing people in a fast-paced, changing environment and working cross-functionally to achieve organisational goals. Confidence in using and championing CRM systems as a core organisational asset is essential, alongside a solid understanding of data protection and GDPR.
The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator and influencer, able to present recommendations to senior leadership and build strong stakeholder relationships. They will be skilled in driving digital adoption, supporting teams through change and embedding continuous improvement approaches. A calm, structured and solutions-focused mindset is key, as is a commitment to a member-centred approach and high-quality service delivery, including oversight of complaints processes.

The role

Our team works remotely, and this role can be based anywhere. We would prefer you to work within or close to UK office hours, but this is flexible. The General Manager will be the key person responsible for the day-to-day operations of the charity and the management of the network and its activities. This is a flexible role for a charity management all-rounder: a multi-skilled self-starter, confident working both independently and collaboratively.
This General Manager role will be the first and only dedicated staff member in a long time, and will be key to enabling our collective ambition. It’s a role that has potential to expand for the right person, and grow with the ambition of C4 - and will be key to collaborating on making that possible.
The General Manager collaborates with the Executive Co-Chairs to deliver the Strategy and develop the impact of our network, convene and build our membership, develop the sustainability of the charity and communicate our impact with members and stakeholders.
The General Manager is the key person responsible for the day-to-day operations of the charity and the management of the network and its activities.
We’re offering this role in two forms: as a flexible freelance contract, or a fixed-term secondment opportunity, and are keen to explore options for the right candidate.
Pay: £2500 per month to deliver the work.
The fee is calculated based on approx. 3 days per week at £200 per day, but we are open to proposals for exact working pattern and rate.
Working hours: Up to 3 days per week (depending on agreement), worked with at least 1 fixed day and some flexibility welcomed.

South West Community Chaplaincy (SWCC) aims to provide effective care and community support for people going through the Criminal Justice System, including prison. This includes work such as advocacy, mentoring and holistic support to assist the integration of people with convictions into their communities, through a team of volunteers, within the counties of Cornwall , Devon and West Somerset.
We are looking for a committed and motivated individual who will be responsible for the recruitment, training, support and retention of the volunteers: someone who has the ability to think outside the box in the approach to this task, and to attract volunteers to be part of something incredible - the changing of clients’ lives.
Volunteers provide a cornerstone of the work that SWCC achieves. They allow the organisation to have a substantially more positive impact due to the greater number of clients they are able to support. To this end, it is imperative that we recruit the right people as volunteers and that they feel fully supported and valued for all they bring to the organisation.
SWCC aims to provide a professional focus and resource for faith communities in the area to establish new and innovative ways of helping participants address their offending behaviour. We do this by providing a network of support that can challenge and promote a positive attitude to change. This role (in conjunction with the chaplains) would fully explore church networks across the area as a potential source for volunteers. Utilising our training resources, we can offer to upskill congregations in safeguarding and also identify possible safe communities for our clients to be able to join.
There is an occupational requirement for applicants to actively embrace the faith ethos and values of SWCC and the successful applicant will have the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people. Some occasional weekend work will be involved.

This hands-on role will span communications and media work across the ITF.
You will be part of a team delivering solidarity and support to local, national and global disputes, building communications that reinforce the critical role of transport workers around the world, developing strategies to support union-led policies on everything from health and safety to sustainability, and raising the volume on the global struggle to advance the rights of transport workers everywhere.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, this role will work collaboratively to implement communications strategies for the ITF’s industrial work programmes and their priority campaigns. The role will include targeting diverse audiences including transport workers, employers, media, policy makers and political leaders. The role will also play a crucial role in ensuring that industrial priorities and issues are reflected and integrated in organisation-wide communications.
The Communications and Press Officer will lead on the implementation of the ITF’s global media strategy: the role is pivotal to securing media coverage that raises awareness of the work and priorities of the ITF internationally, across broadcast, print, online media and trade press, while also monitoring the media coverage we gain, evaluating impact and providing insights to help shape future media work.
The role will also be central to developing communications content across the ITF’s industrial sections, from website news stories to in-depth reports and communications support for ITF conferences, meetings and other events: you will need to be able to develop expert knowledge of policy and industrial issues facing transport workers, and effectively interpret and analyse issues and challenges and translate them into compelling and engaging communications outputs.
