Job description

Terms and Conditions:

Start date: To be confirmed
Salary: If based in London: £24,512 – 27,735 (inclusive of London weighting)
If based nationally: £21,320 – 24,561
Working hours: 28 hours
Contract: Fixed term – role funded for three years
Location: Can be remote or based in London. Must be able to attend parliamentary and networking events in London, occasional evening work and national travel
 
Job Purpose:
 
The post will deliver policy and influencing work representing the experiences of women in the criminal justice system and working in line with the organisation’s strategy and the team’s strategic goals. The role will produce policy briefings, respond to consultations, monitor and record public affairs work and support the Head of Policy and Public Affairs. It will represent the charity in networks and partnership meetings and contribute to the running of the team, including supporting the delivery of the APPG Women Affected by the Criminal Justice System.
 
The role will work closely with teams across the organisation, making sure that the work or the organisation is reflected in its policy. Co-Production is at the heart of our work and central to this role will be making sure that women’s voices and experiences are imbedded in policy. The role will be a mix of specialist policy and public affairs skills and support and admin for the team. We encourage you to apply if you fit some but not all of the criteria.
 
Key Responsibilities: 
  1. Support Women in Prison to influence policy makers to reduce the unnecessary criminalisation of women and improving the rights of women in the criminal justice system
  2. Ensuring women with Lived Experience are at the heart Women in Prison’s policy and public affairs work
  3. Political analysis and monitoring
  4. Supporting the wider work of the Policy and Public Affairs Team
