We are now recruiting for a full time Communication Officer to work with our existing team across all channels to communicate with members and homelessness professionals, helping them to do their jobs more effectively, and marketing our products. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years experience of communication and/or marketing in a professional or semi-professional capacity, excellent communication skills, experience of creating website content, strong strategic and analytical skills and previous experience of using social media in a professional capacity. About the Advocacy team:
The Advocacy & Government Relations team leads the charity in influencing decision-makers and those whose policies, practices and decisions affect cat welfare across the UK. The small, highly motivated team works to influence legislators (national and devolved governments), professional organisations and corporates. The team has successfully influenced the law on microchipping, pet theft and commercial kitten sales in England and worked with the Scottish Government to regulate cat breeding and rehoming activities. The team also runs digital campaigns as part of its strategy.
What we’re looking for in our Advocacy & Government Relations Officer - Westminster:
- Experience of advocacy, public affairs or influencing work, ideally in Westminster
- Experience of policy work and research
- Experience of dealing with high profile/ VIP individuals e.g. Ministers, MPs, MSPs, MLAs, MPs, Government Officials, Local Councillors and officers, etc.
- Proven ability to multi-task and work independently on own initiative, accurately and under pressure

Purpose of the Job
You will be part of the People Team, providing administrative and generalist HR support to the advisory and recruitment functions, helping to ensure the smooth delivery of HR services throughout the employee lifecycle.
The core duty of the People Officer is leading in the day-to-day operation of the HR Service, including recruitment, payroll, changes in terms and conditions, absence, leavers, reporting and wellbeing. You will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of the employee life cycle are supported with.

Administration
- Administration of HR inbox as part of a shared responsibility
- Maintain and update employee records on SharePoint and HR platform
- Carrying out and tracking ongoing compliance checks, including DBS, right to work and driving licence verification, to ensure compliance records are maintained.
- Prepare and process documentation relating to approved changes to terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and accurate record keeping.
- Supporting with formal and informal meetings by arranging, preparing paperwork, setting up and note taking
- Collecting data for payroll and HMRC and providing all starter, leavers, change of terms and conditions information to payroll

Key responsibilities
1. Direct support
•Provide in-person and online 1-to-1 support to young dads and non-birthing people, helping them address key challenges and achieve personal outcomes
•Assess new referrals and manage a complex caseload, prioritising according to need and risk
•Support young dads to attend key meetings with professionals (including child protection, child in need, family court and multi-agency forums)
•Help young dads to access wider opportunities including volunteering, employment, education and community activities
•Support young dads and their families to engage in father and child activities, stay and play sessions, and peer supported recreational activities
•Promote and support access to DigiDAD, NEYDL’s free e-learning platform, and other training and information resources
2. Peer support and group work
•Establish, coordinate and co-facilitate in-person peer support groups for young dads in Tees Valley
•Support the development and delivery of parenting, relationship skills and employability sessions in response to community-identified needs
•Support peer moderated video gaming groups as part of DigiDAD Gaming where relevant
3. Induction, onboarding and milestones
•Ensure every young dad is effectively inducted onto the NEYDL service, completing key onboarding steps and baseline self-evaluation measures

About the Role
As Grant-Making Officer, you will support the delivery of GiveOut's grant-making programme, helping ensure that funding reaches LGBTQI activist organisations efficiently, responsibly and in line with GiveOut's values and grant-making policies.
Reporting to the Grant-Making Manager, you will coordinate key aspects of the grant-making cycle, support grant partners throughout the grant lifecycle, and help maintain the systems, processes and relationships that underpin GiveOut's grant-making programme.
