As a Finance Officer you will support the Senior Finance Manager by delivering accurate and timely transactional finance services, maintaining financial records, and assisting with reconciliations, reporting, and audit preparation.
This role will ensure that the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation and its branches run smoothly and in compliance with policies.

Manchester Central Foodbank is a busy Trussell Trust-affiliated food bank, with centres in Central, North, and East Manchester. We were established in Ardwick in 2013 by students at the Manchester Universities’ Catholic Chaplaincy, making us the first student-led food bank in the country. Since then we have grown significantly, expanding our weekly sessions into Harpurhey and Openshaw.
Our core aims are to deliver the best quality support that we can to the largest number of our neighbours in need, while working with partners and influencing and organising at a neighbourhood and citywide level to reduce and end the need for food banks in Manchester.
We currently support 16,000 people per year with nutritionally balanced 3-day food parcels. This is double the number of people we supported in the first year following the Covid-19 pandemic, and four times the number supported in 2019. We also provide financial inclusion support with advice workers in public sessions, access to energy vouchers, SIM cards, and other voucher or material support. We coordinate across a network of 200 active front-line referral agencies with the aim of ensuring everyone who accesses our service has appropriate, specialised, and ongoing support alongside the material provision that we provide.
We are active leaders in anti-poverty organising and community development, as convenors of the city-wide Building an Anti-Poverty Community collective and aim to be key shapers and influencers of new strategies and policies, working closely to support and influence local government, NHS, education, and research agendas in Manchester and more widely, building upon our track record of successful anti-poverty partnership work, social value impact, and Parliamentary influencing.
Key Responsibilities
Our Operations and Projects Workers are the backbone of our charity. They play a key role in the day-to-day running of operations, from frontline and client-facing work to recruiting, supervising, and supporting volunteers, assisting with stock and logistics activities and deliveries, and leading and supporting a range of projects.
A central part of this diverse, hands-on role is leading and supporting foodbank sessions, with extensive engagement with foodbank clients and primary responsibility for supervising, supporting, and developing volunteers.
The Operations and Projects Workers will help shape and maintain high service standards and embed Our Values at the core of every aspect of the charity’s activity.
On a weekly basis the postholder will work to support the smooth running of three public-facing sessions and the operational activities which underpin them. You will work alongside a team of volunteers and staff
You will be based at our main office and warehouse site, but also regularly attend our three session sites where appropriate and conduct deliveries and collections across the city. Some working from home is allowed with the prior agreement of your manager.
Foodbank Sessions
As part of a pre-planned rota system you will attend foodbank sessions in a variety of roles. All team members are expected to prioritise the creation of a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and friendly space.
In some sessions you will be the nominated Session Lead,
- You will be responsible for health and safety, briefing and de-briefing of volunteers and other staff, safeguarding and incident reporting, and dealing with emergency or difficult situations.
- Session leads take an active role in shaping and maintaining our values-led Service Standards and creating a supportive framework for other team members, ensuring all frontline service meets those expectations.
- You will ensure consistent and rigorous monitoring and reporting from sessions, including volunteer registration, stock management, logging and escalation of issues and concerns, also well as consistent reporting on service provision.
- Session Leads will act as the primary liaison and coordination point on the day with advice providers and financial inclusion workers
- They will also be the lead contact point on a session day liaising with host sites and reception staff and other session partner organisations.
- Before, during, and after sessions, the Session Lead will monitor stock levels and ensure packing, loading, and unloading is done safely and consistently.
You may also attend foodbank sessions in a variety of other roles, including, but not limited to:
- Conducting or coordinating one-to-one check-ins and support conversations with clients, responsible for signposting and onwards referrals
- Providing additional support such as energy vouchers, SIM cards, supermarket vouchers, and other provision.
- Delivering and collecting food and other stock and materials to and from session sites and monitoring stock levels.
- Supporting general tasks and activities within sessions, such as packing parcels, referrals check-in, picking lists, or monitoring cafés and adjacent spaces.
General Foodbank Operations
Outside of foodbank sessions, you will lead or support across the broad range of operational and project activities, including:
- Regularly driving the foodbank van and loading and unloading stock and other materials.
- Answering or replying to enquiries from clients, referrers, donors, partners, and other contacts via the main charity phone line and email inboxes.
- Conduct regular office-based administrative, printing, and reporting activities.
- Deputise for senior staff or fill in for other team members where appropriate in day-to-day operational cover and external meetings and relationships, including with foodbank referrers and partner organisations.
- Coordinate and supervise volunteers and logistics around food deliveries, food drives, and food sorting sessions.
- Work and lead on projects to help maintain and increase donation levels.
- In collaboration with other staff, assist volunteer recruitment, training, and development activities.
- Attend and organise meetings and events where required to represent the foodbank or conduct project-related work.
- Undertake training and personal development as appropriate and agreed with your line manager.
The post-holder will be responsible for managing their own workload and time management, completing timesheets and reports for the board.
There may be other project-specific tasks requested from time to time for the benefit of the charity to be discussed and agreed with your line manager.
About you
Essential Experience and Knowledge:
- A full clean driving licence and willing and able to drive a 3.5tn van regularly.
- Experience of working with volunteers.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills in order to coordinate your own workload and schedule, effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with other staff members, volunteers, referrers, and foodbank users.
- Ability to respond to unexpected situations in a busy service delivery environment and make decisions related to health and safety and emergency incidents.
- Ability to independently make and carry out decisions in line with foodbank policies and procedures.
- An enthusiasm for all aspects of work at Manchester Central Foodbank, and the flexibility and willingness to get involved with projects and tasks that may sit outside of your normal work.

We are looking for an organised and proactive Events & Operations Officer to play a key role within this function and deliver the experiences, systems and insight that support Greenpeace UK’s Major Donor, Trusts & Foundations and Legacy fundraising programmes.
This is far from a typical events role. Working closely with the Events & Operations Manager, you will lead on many of the team’s cultivation and stewardship events, creating opportunities for supporters to connect directly with Greenpeace’s mission and impact. You could be coordinating major donor networking events, organising behind-the-scenes briefings with campaigners, delivering legacy stewardship events, supporting unique supporter experiences, or helping to bring prospects together through creative events and workshops.
Alongside event delivery, you will play an equally important role in the operational side of the team. From CRM reporting and data management to process improvement and cross-organisational projects, you will help create the systems and infrastructure that enable fundraisers to spend more time building relationships and securing income.

As Events & Operations Officer, you will:
- Lead the delivery of many of Greenpeace UK’s high-value cultivation and stewardship events, taking ownership of planning, logistics, supplier management and on-the-day delivery
- Support a diverse programme of donor events, including networking events, campaign briefings, webinars, roundtables and supporter experiences that bring donors closer to Greenpeace’s work
- Support the delivery of flagship events led by the Events & Operations Manager, helping to create exceptional experiences for major donors, legacy supporters and prospects
- Work across the Key Relationships team to ensure events are embedded within supporter journeys and contribute to engagement, stewardship and income growth

The AI Engineer is a hands-on role where you’ll work across the full development lifecycle, from shaping ideas and building prototypes through to deploying production-ready solutions. You’ll play a key role in applying AI and modern software engineering practices to real-world service challenges.
As AI Engineer, you’ll be part of a small, collaborative team, working closely with product, user experience and operational colleagues to deliver impactful, user-focused solutions.
This role is predominantly home-based with occasional attendance at our Birmingham Office (minimum of four days per year). However, during probation more frequent office attendance will be required to ensure you receive full support.

Supporting the Senior Analysis Officers, the Date Reporting & Analyst Officer role helps us to provide and maintain comprehensive reporting and analytics for the Income Generation team at Battersea.

We are looking for somebody relational, empowering and adaptable to be our Church and Community Support Officer to work with our parishes and their communities, helping to build local engagement and ensure church buildings remain sustainable as a place of worship and a resource for the local community.
This is a new fixed-term post made possible by a grant from the Church Commissioners of the Church of England through their Buildings for Mission funding.
About the Role
- Provide on-the-ground support to Parochial Church Councils (PCCs) to increase local engagement and volunteer capacity.
- Support PCCs and congregations to engage with their communities through consultation, surveys, and outreach initiatives.
- Help churches identify ways to maximise the potential of their buildings, including generating income and securing funding.
- Develop volunteering opportunities and support the creation of Friends Groups and other local initiatives.
- Build partnerships with local authorities, businesses, charities and community organisations.
- Support PCCs in exploring new models such as Festival Churches
- Facilitate shared learning across the Diocese.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience of managing community-led projects and working with volunteers.
- Ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including clergy, PCCs and external partners.
- A proactive, self-starting approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- An open-minded approach with the ability to adapt to local needs
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and communication skills.

About the Patient Support Service
The Patient Support Service provides practical, emotional and financial support for anyone affected by chronic kidney disease. Whatever the need presented, we empower people living with CKD and their families and carers to understand their options and make informed choices to positively navigate their experience of CKD. We’ll walk alongside them for as long as they need us to.
About the Role
Our regional Patient Support Officers play a key role in establishing Kidney Care UK in their designated region and enabling patients, their families, carers and professionals to access independant support on social, financial, health advocacy and wellbeing.
You will proactively engage with kidney patients and their families as a source of advice,information, and support to improve care and wellbeing outcomes for kidney patients. You will seek to inform and empower individuals, providing the tools and knowledge to enable confident self-management and be the regional face of Kidney Care UK patient support services, raise awareness of the service and the Charity and build strong relationships with kidney patients, the renal units, Kidney Patient Associations (KPAs), health professionals and other kidney stakeholder groups in the region.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the Patient Support Service across the region and the effective management of a caseload. This involves regular attendance at renal clinics in the region, building relationships with health and care professionals and being available for patients in the renal unit, on the phone or online, or to meet at a mutually convenient public location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with and support patients and their carers face to face and by telephone to provide information, advice and support on a range of personal, emotional and practical matters.
- Through regular visits to renal units in your designated area, establish and maintain a presence to enable patients' easy access to Kidney Care UK support services.
- Promote and attend local health information events to raise awareness of Kidney Care UK and the benefits of its Patient Support Service with kidney patients, their families and relevant health professionals.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with the regional kidney community through fully engaging with KPAs, health professionals and relevant health and community stakeholder groups.
- Maintain accurate records to allow effective reporting on key performance indicators such as number of patients supported, type of support provided, key needs etc.
About you
You will have an empathy with our patient group and an understanding of kidney disease and the needs of people with kidney disease, their families and carers. You will be able to work independantly and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and above all have the ability to deal professionally, calmly and sympathetically with people affected by kidney disease.
An understanding of the relevant UK benefits legislation and entitlements is essential as is having excellent IT skills, including Word, Powerpoint and Excel. You will hold an Advice and Guidance qualification or be willing to complete it within 6 months of service in the role.
The role is home based but you will need to live within the region that you are applying for and have the ability to travel independantly throughout the area on a regular basis and to attend national meetings/events as required. There will also be a requirement to undertake occasional evening and weekend work and some flexibility to be able to work some irregular hours to meet the needs of our patients.
The areas are as follows:
North East: Newcastle Upon Tyne, Sunderland and North Cumbria. This role is part funded by the North Gas Network through the vulnerability and carbon monoxide allowance fund.
South West: Cornwall, Devon, Exeter and Plymouth. This role is funded by Wales and West Utilities through the vulnerability and carbon monoxide allowance fund.
Please be aware that as they are funded positions they are fixed term posts until 31 May 2028. There is a possibility of extension but no guarantee.
