We’ve launched a bold new pilot in the West Midlands to tackle the urgent issue of late prostate cancer diagnosis in Black men and we need a dynamic Project Manager to lead the way. In this pivotal role, you’ll bring communities, healthcare partners and local insight together to dismantle barriers, build trust, and shape a model that could change outcomes across the UK.

What the job involves

As the Project Manager, you’ll lead an innovative pilot designed to tackle late diagnosis of prostate cancer in Black men. Day to day, you’ll shape and deliver a regional model that breaks down systemic barriers to early diagnosis - from coordinating the unification of efforts to address drivers of inequity in prostate cancer to establishing a new bridging fund to support cross-sector partnerships. You’ll work closely with community organisations, Primary Care Networks and NHS stakeholders, bringing people together to build trust and drive practical, measurable improvements.

What we want from you

You’ll be someone who cares deeply about health equity and is motivated by making real change happen for Black men in prostate cancer. We’re looking for someone who has experience designing or delivering community‑based health projects and feels confident working across sectors to build strong, equitable partnerships. You’ll bring strategic thinking, the ability to turn insight into action, and the communication skills to engage, influence and inspire. You’ll be comfortable managing timelines, budgets and reporting impact, and you’ll bring a strong understanding of public health, health equity or programme management. Most importantly, you’ll champion inclusion, cultural sensitivity and our values in everything you do.

As this role is supporting our work in the West Midlands, candidates must live within, or no more than 30 minutes from, one of the following NHS Health Trust areas: Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Black Country, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, Birmingham and Solihull, or Coventry and Warwickshire.

How and where we work

Colleagues attend the office at least four days per month (pro rata for part-time colleagues) to collaborate, build relationships, and support projects and decision-making. You can choose where to work the rest of the time. Travel to the office is a commute, so we pay our own travel costs.

Additional in-person attendance will be required during your first few months for induction and training, to support you to learn the role and get to know colleagues.

Job Description

The Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) will play a crucial role in realising our ambitious plans as a charity. The postholder will be a member of our Senior Leadership Team (SLT), along with the CEO, Director of Development, Director of Programmes and Director of Fundraising and Communications. The DFO role is responsible for overseeing the financial health, operational effectiveness, and organisational infrastructure of the charity, ensures that the charity operates efficiently, ethically, and in compliance with all regulatory and fiduciary requirements. This role blends strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational management and is critical to enabling the charity to achieve its charitable programme as well as provide long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Management

• Provide strategic financial leadership, including long-range financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Develop and manage the organisation’s annual operating and capital budgets in collaboration with senior leadership.
• Manage the accounting functions, including payroll and pension, and month-end and year-end close.

The centre is the heart of the organisation. We offer a basic needs service for people sleeping on the streets. We provide a service for those who are homeless or experiencing housing poverty in the Lancaster and District area. The successful candidate will undertake the successful delivery of the National Lottery Heritage Fund project, the Community Development Officer will work closely with the Project Manager, Conservation Officer and the Woodland Trust Northern Ireland Team in order to achieve this. The Candidate:

• You’ll be experienced in In Environmental Education (especially woodlands and rivers), including experience of volunteer and community engagement.
• You will have experience developing and delivering training programmes (preferably including accredited training through a recognised body) directly and/or through procured providers in environmental or countryside skills
• You will have experience working with, developing and managing land management and owning partners.
• You will have previous experience in roles involving public facing communications, including for example, public consultation, media work, lobbying and event management.
• You’ll be experienced in delivering community led projects and activity plans (Heritage Fund or other) and the creation and management of volunteer groups e.g. “Friends of Groups”

Coram is the UK’s oldest children’s charity founded by Thomas Coram in London helping vulnerable children and young people since 1739. One of the nine members of the Coram group, Coram Children’s Legal Centre (CCLC) is the UK’s specialist centre for children’s rights in education, immigration, community care and family law, and provides significant international legal systems consultancy. The centre is located on the Coram Campus in central London with a base in Colchester. We champion access to justice through information and advice, legal practice and representation, policy and strategic litigation. Our Legal Practice Unit provides advice and representation primarily under legal aid contract. Our Policy and Practice Change team promotes practice change through training and capacity building to professionals and secures systems change through research, policy and advocacy.

 

About the role

This role will provide leadership and management for CCLC particularly focused on the Legal Practice Unit’s legal aid billing operations. Through systematic and efficient management, the post-holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial and operational sustainability. The role will be accountable for maximising the unit’s legal aid billing in controlled work, certificated work and inter partes costs and will hold responsibility for the unit’s billing systems. It will also be responsible for private fees billing. The post-holder will oversee the smooth running of legal aid billing including through line management of the billing team. The post-holder will work very closely with legal, operations and administrative staff. The role will act as a key point of contact for a range of internal and external stakeholders including Coram’s central finance team who will support the role with grant fund management and overall accounting functions for CCLC. The post-holder will support the Managing Director of Legal Practice and Children’s Rights and department heads in the successful maintenance of our relationship with the Legal Aid Agency. Where appropriate they will be deputising for the Managing Director on legal aid and financial matters.

The role would suit a highly organised and efficient legal aid lawyer, or a finance or billing professional with solid experience of legal practice and a deep understanding of the challenges of legal aid. Whilst candidates with direct experience of legal billing (and more specifically civil legal aid billing) are welcomed, we recognise that this is a highly specialised and niche field. As such, this role could suit a highly experienced solicitor who appreciates the important role developing sustainable businesses plays in ensuring access to justice and who therefore wishes to move into practice and financial management. They will need an aptitude for processing large amounts of data, developing and managing spreadsheets and improving organisational systems. However, they will be well supported through training, an enthusiastic and competent junior billing team, the central finance team and an outsourced legal cashiering company, as well as a friendly and collaborative management team including the Managing Director and the Heads of Education Law, Community Care Law and Immigration and Asylum Law.

This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the billing team. However, some remote / hybrid working may be possible depending the experience of the candidate after the initial settling in period and there will be flexibility over how the three days will be spread across the week (within working hours). The team are mostly based in the London office and with one billing team member in Colchester so the post holder may require some occasional travel.

About the role

The Campaigns Officer is a fast-paced and exciting role. It leads and contributes to a variety of projects to deliver our campaigns, equip and inspire our core audience to get involved in activism, and build power in the movements for justice of which Christian Aid is part

The postholder will help develop a range of strategies, tactics and activities to help deliver our campaigning work. They will create resources and marketing content, develop and lead workshops and much, much more.

The role reports to the Campaigns Advisor and works closely with colleagues across our Income and Public Engagement team to engage Christians to give, act, pray in support of Christian Aid. This is a part time role, responsible for leading the fundraising efforts of Canaan Project.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the People & Volunteering function, working closely with the CEO and the SMT.
• Develop and implement people plans, policies and compliance processes aligned with UK employment law.
• Provide advice and coaching to managers, supporting performance, wellbeing and employee relations.
• Line manage the Volunteer Manager and support a high-quality volunteering experience.
• Oversee onboarding, L&D, payroll liaison, DBS and right-to-work checks, and HR records.
• Lead annual people, volunteer and trustee surveys and use insights to drive improvement.
• Maintain HR systems and produce clear people data and reports for internal stakeholders.

What we are looking for

• Experience in a broad HR generalist role (e.g. Head of People, HR Manager or similar), ideally within a charity, social sector or other values-driven setting.
• Confident working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice, with the ability to apply this in a proportionate and practical way.
• Experience advising and supporting managers with day-to-day people issues and building constructive relationships across an organisation.
• Experience working with volunteers, for example, supporting a volunteer function, managing volunteer-involving projects and/or through lived experience of volunteering.
• Strong systems and data skills, including using HR and/or volunteer management systems and producing clear reports on people metrics (such as sickness, turnover and workforce/volunteer trends).
• Experience improving processes and systems, with the ability to identify what needs to change and follow through.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain people issues clearly and build trust with staff, volunteers, senior leaders and trustees.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People has been creating life-changing partnerships between hearing dogs and deaf recipients since 1982. Following on from a strategic review, the charity is now building a new Income Generation Directorate, to enable them to transform many more lives across the UK. This role will be critical to help Hearing Dogs reach their goals to significantly grow and diversify income.

About Your New Ministry Context

The new Finance & Operations Director will play a pivotal role in stewarding these resources and ensuring ongoing financial sustainability.

Your Role as Finance Leader Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will lead the finance function as a trusted partner to both the Jubilee House Leadership Team and the Bishop's Core Team. This is a strategic role where you'll shape the financial direction of the Diocese while providing hands-on support to parishes navigating financial challenges. You will combine strategic financial stewardship with operational oversight, ensuring the Diocese’s resources are effectively managed in alignment with the vision and mission. You will work collaboratively across the organisation, with frequent and detailed parish engagement, to shape and implement financial strategy, while also leading the administration of financial initiatives which include, giving, strategic operations and property-related activities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Strategic Financial Leadership

• Collaboratively support the development and implementation of financial strategies
• that align missionally with the diocesan seven areas of focus, across the Diocese with particular support to Parishes.
• Prepare and present financial reports, including budgets, forecasts, and risk
• analyses, to senior management and decision making committees.

Risk and Compliance Oversight

• Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and National Church standards.
• Coordinate audits and implement internal controls.

Team Leadership

• Leading and developing the finance and operations teams to deliver excellent service
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
• Collaborate with other departments to align operational goals with the overall Diocesan vision, mission and strategy.

Who We're Looking For Professional Excellence

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience
• Extensive experience in financial management and operational leadership.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.

Essential Faith Requirement There is a genuine occupational requirement for the post holder to be a committed Christian in the Anglican tradition or another member denomination of Churches Together in England. You'll need a strong understanding and empathy with the aims, ethos and beliefs of the Christian faith and its expression through the Church of England.

• Significant, demonstrable experience in designing, implementing and evaluating complex training strategies across multiple channels of F2F.

• Expert-level operational knowledge of the F2F sector, with an ability to identify and implement sector best practices.
• In-depth, current knowledge of all relevant CIOF, Fundraising Regulator and data protection legislation, with the ability to advise on compliance.
• A track record of coaching managers and team leaders, plus field staff.
• The passion and ability to translate our complex global mission and campaigns – along with our organisational values – into actionable training.
