Legal Officer:

ILPA is recruiting a Legal Officer to support delivery of ILPA’s legal and policy work, undertaking detailed legal analysis, parliamentary support and member engagement. The role will sit horizontally alongside an existing Legal Officer post.

Job Description

Purpose of the role

The Legal Officer will play a key role in supporting ILPA’s legal and policy work on immigration, economic migration, asylum and nationality law.

Working under the direction of the Director of Policy and Advocacy, the post holder will engage in detailed legal and policy analysis, support parliamentary and influencing activity, support legal project delivery, and contribute to high-quality information and engagement for ILPA members. The Legal Officer will need to work reliably and flexibly across a broad range of legal and policy issues, often at short notice.

The Legal Officer will also work with the Director of Strategic Litigation and Advice where legal policy and strategic litigation intersect.

Key responsibilities

1. Legal and policy analysis

• Produce high-quality analysis of immigration, economic migration, asylum and nationality law and policy.
• Monitor developments in legislation, case law and policy, including secondary legislation and guidance.
• Prepare written briefings, updates and summaries for members, trustees and external stakeholders.
• Support the Director of Policy & Advocacy in the development and delivery of ILPA’s legal strategy.

2. Parliamentary and influencing work

• Support ILPA’s parliamentary work, including monitoring legislation and parliamentary business.
• Draft consultation responses, briefings and evidence submissions.
• Assist in engagement with parliamentarians, officials, peers and external organisations.
• Support the organisation of meetings and briefings with MPs, peers, civil servants and sector partners.
• Contribute to ILPA’s influencing activity through written and oral advocacy.

3. Member engagement and sector support

• Liaise with ILPA members to gather evidence and practice insight to inform policy positions.
• Support ILPA’s thematic working groups, including attending meetings and progressing agreed actions.
• Respond to and triage member enquiries, directing issues to appropriate working groups or colleagues, and escalating complex queries as needed.
• Promote knowledge-sharing across the immigration and advice sector.
• Prepare agendas and papers for meetings, and take/circulate minutes and actions points.

4. Legal project delivery

• Ensure project outputs are delivered on time and to the required standard.
• Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and funder reporting where required.
• Provide general administrative support to the legal team, including coordination for external meetings, taking and sharing minutes, organising correspondence, and storing materials timely and safely.

5. Information management and publications

• Ensure legal and policy information is accurately stored, organised and retrievable.
• Work with the Content and Communications Manager to ensure accuracy and clarity of published legal content, and draft the legal section of ILPA’s weekly newsletter, and parts of the Annual Report.

6. Organisational contribution

• Support cross-team working with training, content and litigation colleagues.
• Contribute to organisational planning, learning and continuous improvement.
• Undertake other duties consistent with the seniority of the role.

• Appropriate post-qualification experience in UK immigration, asylum and nationality law, or equivalent expertise demonstrated through substantial legal practice or policy work at an equivalent level;
• Substantial knowledge and experience of UK immigration, economic migration, asylum and nationality law;

• Ability to communicate complex legal information clearly;

The Job 

Reporting to the Senior Fundraising Manager, this role sits within the Communications, Engagement and Fundraising team. The Church Engagement and Events Officer will play a key role in building relationships with churches, supporters and volunteers across Britain, Ireland and Europe, helping them engage more deeply with USPG's vision and mission. 

You will lead the planning and delivery of USPG's events programme, including the USPG Conference, Founder's Day, In Conversation Dinners and the annual Carol Service, as well as supporting the organisation's presence at festivals, synods and other national events. Help build the operational foundations of a pioneering national nature-based mental-health service for young people.

We are looking for an experienced, highly organised Operations Lead to turn an ambitious pilot into a scalable national membership model.

Salary: £40,000–£45,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 37.5 hours per week; applications for a four-day week (30 hours / 0.8 FTE) are also welcome
Contract: 18-month fixed term, with the intention to extend or become permanent subject to delivery and funding

Dose of Nature is a mental-health charity improving mental health and wellbeing through structured, evidence-informed engagement with nature.

We are establishing a Young Person Memberships service for young people and young adults under 25. Through this model, trusted youth, community, education and clinical organisations will be trained and supported to deliver the Dose of Nature programme in the places and services young people already know.

The first phase is an 18-month pilot with approximately four to six member organisations. It will test, refine and validate a model that can be scaled nationally.

About the role

As Young People’s Memberships Operations Lead, you will establish and manage the operational infrastructure needed to make this new service work.

You will manage the end-to-end journey for member organisations: from initial engagement and readiness assessment, through onboarding, training and implementation, to active delivery, reporting, learning and renewal.

Working closely with the Young Person Memberships Service Lead, you will coordinate the systems, information, people and processes that enable safe, effective delivery. You will be the principal day-to-day contact for member Lead Coordinators, ensuring that actions, milestones, documentation, meetings and reporting are followed through.

You will develop practical systems and workflows; coordinate training, supervision and partner meetings; maintain delivery trackers, risk and incident logs; support governance and quality assurance; and produce clear programme reporting for senior leaders, trustees, funders and partners.

This is a hands-on service-building role for someone who enjoys creating order from complexity, building trusted partner relationships and turning plans into action.

About you

You will bring significant experience in operations, programme management, service delivery or partnership coordination. You will have experience coordinating a complex programme across multiple organisations or delivery sites, and of developing practical systems, processes and workflows.

You will be confident managing partner relationships, maintaining action plans and risk logs, gathering and reporting data, and coordinating meetings, training or workshops. You will be highly organised, proactive and calm under pressure, with the judgement to know when to resolve an issue and when to escalate it.

Experience in mental health, young people’s services, health, education, charities or community organisations would be valuable, as would experience of NHS or VCSE partnerships, quality assurance, grant-funded programmes or multi-site delivery.

Role Overview

Key responsibilities include:

Financial Operations & Reporting
