Main Purpose

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for coordinating volunteer recruitment and selection, using innovative opportunities to engage with others and encourage participation. The postholder will be involved in all elements of the volunteer journey, including recruitment, selection, training, stewardship, recognition and exit; whilst maintaining accurate records within the volunteer management system.

The Volunteer Coordinator will also support staff with the management of volunteers, in their areas, helping to resolve day-to-day issues encountered by volunteers, and build and maintain engaging relationships with volunteers, ensuring they have a positive and meaningful experience.

Working with a range of teams across three sites , the Volunteer Coordinator provides expert support and guidance to staff on the effective stewardship, engagement and management of volunteers. They will also work with colleagues to identify and develop opportunities for volunteer involvement, matching volunteers to need.

This role requires high levels of emotional intelligence, creativity, drive and initiative, and a positive attitude to working with a variety of people at all levels. This role may involve occasional evening and weekend working, with some travel across three sites. This post is subject to a successful DBS check.

Main Duties & Responsiblities

Recruitment, Selection and Induction of Volunteers

• To be the first point of contact for volunteering enquiries and applications.

• Take ownership and responsibility for the coordination of all relevant application, interview, selection and training processes for volunteers, including the processing of DBS checks and associated administration.

• Coordinate the promotion and advertisement of volunteering opportunities, including targeted recruitment campaigns.

• Conduct volunteer interviews, either face-to-face or over the telephone.

• Ensure excellent service is delivered in a timely manner and that processes are efficient and robust.

• Plan and deliver engaging training and development opportunities for volunteers to support them in undertaking their role.

• Represent Aurora Wellbeing to a range of external audiences, building and maintaining effective relationships to raise awareness of volunteering opportunities and support the recruitment of volunteers.

• Attend relevant internal and external events to recruit volunteers and promote the work of Aurora Wellbeing within local communities.

• Work with other teams within Aurora Wellbeing to identify, develop and promote new opportunities for volunteer involvement.

Volunteer Support and Supervision

• To be the central point of contact for all volunteers

• Maintain regular communication with volunteers, providing guidance, support and direction.

• Respond to any day-to-day queries from volunteers, helping to resolve issues encountered by volunteers when undertaking their role and escalating any issues to the Head of Volunteering as appropriate.

• Provide support and supervision for volunteers, through a range of face-to-face, telephone, digital or group activities.

• Provide efficient administrative support to ensure the effective running of all stages of the volunteer journey and lifecycle.

• Promote the active engagement of volunteers

• Support the recognition of the impact volunteers have and value the contributions they make

• Ensure effective communication, engagement and recognition of Aurora Wellbeing volunteers through social media, newsletters, events and other innovative opportunities.

Team Working and Collaboration

• Provide proactive support and guidance to staff on volunteering best practice and the effective management, stewardship, and engagement.

• Act as a source of knowledge on volunteering related matters, providing timely advice in line with policies and procedures.

• Work with colleagues across the organisation to support the rollout of initiatives for volunteer recruitment, retention and engagement as necessary.

Operational

• Maintain accurate volunteer records on our data management systems, ensuring that volunteer information is kept up to date and data is stored and processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), Code of Fundraising Practice.

• Provide volunteer KPI information as required.

• Build and maintain relationships with organisations within the local community to promote the work of Aurora.

Training and Development

• To attend staff development programmes, training courses, and conferences as deemed necessary.

• To attend staff meetings.

• To take responsibility for attendance at mandatory training sessions.

• To undertake professional development/training considered necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

Qualifications Educated to equivalent GCSE level 4 or above in Maths and English Evidence of training or development relevant to volunteering.

Relevant professional or personal experience of volunteering or working with communities.

Experience of recruiting and supporting others using a formal process.

Experience of using CRM or database systems to input data and maintain accurate records.

Experience of managing own daily workload.

Experience of working collaboratively, both within an organisation and with external stakeholders and partners.

Desirable

Evidence of training or development relevant to volunteering.

• A proven track record of planning and delivering multichannel digital fundraising campaigns within the charity or not-for-profit sector, including but not limited, to activity across paid social media (Meta, TikTok), email, PPC, display and emerging channels. Experience using GA4 and Google Tag Manager, as well as other native platform analytical tools for tracking, reporting and assisting optimisation.
• Proven knowledge and use of digital marketing tools, including email marketing and automation platforms (DotDigital would be advantageous).
• Demonstratable experience of developing paid social media campaign tracking and an understanding of the changing landscape in social media i.e. current Meta restrictions

We are recruiting a fixed-term Policy Campaigns Manager to lead our campaigns function at ARUK. The Policy Campaigns Manager will report to the Senior Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager and have line management responsibilities for the Policy Campaigns Officer.

In this role you will be joining a friendly and fast-moving Policy and Public Affairs team, during an exciting year for dementia research as we campaign on our core mission for a cure. You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation to oversee our active campaigns and identify opportunities to mobilise our supporters and drive influence and impact for and with people affected by dementia.

You will lead the development of the campaigns function for ARUK, building on existing initiatives, championing best practice in campaigns and building our reach and engagement. You will also be responsible for working across a range of functions including our policy, research, communications, digital, brand and volunteering teams.

This is a 12 month FTC or on return of the substantive postholder

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver our live campaigns and marshal our campaigner base to advocate for change in dementia research and for people affected by dementia

· Work with colleagues across research, policy and public affairs teams to develop and deliver our campaigns that mobilise people affected by dementia and our supporters to influence decision makers and change policy and practice

· Work with the policy managers to ensure that our campaigns align with our strategic priorities and theories of change

· Work closely with public affairs colleagues to plan campaign actions that align with key political influencing moments e.g. Budget; Spending Review; King’s speech; General Elections

Develop and deliver our campaign communications to grow the reach, influence and impact of our campaigns

· Lead the development and growth of our campaigner network, building supporter journeys, and producing compelling and creative campaigner communications across email, social media and other channels

· Work with colleagues across CRM and digital to improve data management, delivering regular reporting on campaign actions and use this data to enhance the campaigner experience and empower more people to take action. ​

· Work with colleagues across the organisation to build campaigning expertise and experience with local ARUK supporters and improve our reach with MPs in their constituencies

Line Manage our Policy Campaigns Officer

· Oversee the work of the policy campaigns officer including setting objectives and providing support to a range of workstreams.

· Consider the learning and development needs of the policy campaigns officer and ensure that they are able to grow and develop in their role. 

Involve people affected by dementia in campaigns development and delivery

· Identify campaign champions and storytellers with lived experience who can advocate for change

· Provide training and ongoing support to people with lived experience to empower them to take part in and shape our campaigns

Research, insight and continuous improvement

· Provide expert advice across the charity on campaigning, taking an open, flexible and innovative approach

· Develop mechanisms to keep abreast of best practice in campaigns and any legal or regulatory issues specifically around mental capacity and consent, data protection and lobbying etc

· Continue a campaigning culture across the organisation by being an ambassador for the benefits of campaigning and working with colleagues to showcase the opportunities and impact of our work.

About the role

The high value and campaign department at Breast Cancer Now are an ambitious team of relationship fundraisers that are committed to delivering significant growth over the next five years. Charitable trust grant-funding has a key role to play in this, with our particular focus on securing long-term committed funding for the organisation.

Our existing portfolio of charitable trust and foundation supporters includes a number of high-profile and high-value partnerships, in some cases held over decades.

We’re now seeking to increase, diversify, and drive our trusts fundraising programme to the next level. The trusts and statutory manager role will achieve this by growing our small to mid-value portfolios – significantly uplifting our conversion of supporters up to the five-figure level. Working across our organisation, you’ll create compelling propositions to secure new supporters; and deliver engaging impact communications to sustain new and existing supporters and inspire committed giving over the long-term.

About you

We’re looking for someone with a passion for making a positive impact through

relationship fundraising – and experience of success in grant fundraising in the small to mid-value area. A skilled multi-tasker, you’ll be adept in managing a high volume of prospects, applying gold-standard relationship principles consistently across your pipeline.  

You’ll be responsible for our small to mid-value portfolios and for growing the cumulative value of these. You’ll build a wide knowledge base and strong understanding of our important work to effectively engage with new, potential and existing supporters. With experience in taking a proactive approach, you’ll be equipped to regularly manage multiple tasks including new supporter approaches; thanking and stewardship journeys; and gift administration tasks.

You’ll be motivated to play a supportive role in our wider department fundraising goals while thriving in a team setting.

Location, hybrid working and salary range

About the role

​As Trust and Grants Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing and delivering our Trust Fundraising Strategy, ensuring strong performance, excellent funder stewardship and long‑term growth. You’ll manage high‑value relationships, lead strategy and planning, and provide inspiring line management to Trust fundraising colleagues.

Working closely with colleagues across Income Generation, Business Development and operational teams, you’ll ensure Samaritans’ work is communicated compellingly to Trust and Statutory funders, grounded in evidence, insight and lived experience.​

• Lead the development and delivery of the Trust Funding Strategy, with clear KPIs, work plans and performance analysis
• Oversee a Trusts programme raising over £2m per year, with responsibility for future growth
• Personally manage a portfolio of high‑value Trust relationships, delivering £600k–£700k annual income
• Shape and deliver donor cultivation and stewardship approaches that create inspiring funder experiences
• Line manage and develop Trust fundraising staff, supporting performance, wellbeing and professional growth

• Lead prospect research and pipeline development, identifying new large Trust opportunities
