About the Role

The Supervising Solicitor – Legal Aid is a key role in shaping and strengthening Release’s legal services. Working closely with the Joint Head of Legal Services and Executive Director, and in collaboration with other colleagues, you will supervise the delivery of high-quality legal advice and representation, supporting the growth of legal aid practice whilst ensuring Release continues to train and develop social justice lawyers for the future. 

We are looking for an experienced legal aid practitioner who is strongly committed to social justice and the legal rights of marginalised communities, and who wants to build leadership experience in a movement-led organisation. The role will combine hands-on practice, leadership, supervision and compliance responsibilities. 

Please note: We do not expect the postholder to generate legal aid income at a multiple of their salary. While we do aim to grow legal aid income across the team to an initial target of £15,000–£25,000 per annum, the focus of this role is on developing high‑quality legal aid practice and building sustainable income collectively, as part of a mixed‑income organisational model.

As Supervising Solicitor – Legal Aid, you will:

• Support Strategic Development: Contribute to developing the direction and priorities of Release’s legal services, including expanding legal aid work and strengthening access to justice.

• Provide Practice Supervision: Support a multidisciplinary team of solicitors, legal advisers and volunteers to deliver excellent, trauma-informed legal support. Support and mentor team members on how to adhere to legal aid file compliance, time recording and CCMS applications.

• Ensure Quality and Compliance: Help ensure consistent regulatory compliance and quality assurance across legal casework, including legal aid requirements.

• Strengthen and Grow Services: Help develop and improve legal service delivery models, including responding to emerging needs and client priorities.

• Contribute to Systemic Change: Support Release’s wider mission by helping connect legal services with policy, research, and advocacy work.

Operational Support Worker *(Female Only)

Overview of Role:

The Operational Support Worker plays a vital role in enabling the team to offer compassionate, Christ centred support to vulnerable women. As the project has seen growth over the last few years, in response to rising demand, this role will play a key part in shaping and establishing the administrative systems, processes and procedures we’ve not yet had the capacity to formalise—ideal for someone who is energised by building structure, improving practice, and being part of creating solutions rather than stepping into a readymade setup. Role Overview

The Dementia Service Co-ordinator is a newly created role responsible for coordinating and developing Age UK Croydon’s Dementia Service. A varied role with development, supervisory, and facilitation responsibilities, it offers an exciting opportunity to join the team and help shape the service to support people living with dementia, their carers, and the wider community. The Dementia Service sits within the Healthier Lifestyles Team and currently offers six monthly Memory Tree Cafés for people living with mild to moderate dementia and their carers, alongside co-located support groups for carers. Cafes are delivered at our Brigstock Road Community Hall and across the borough in local community venues.

The role has two main areas of responsibility: coordinating, facilitating and expanding the existing café and carers’ group; developing a new preventative strand of the service focused on providing information and advice to residents aged 50+ on raising awareness of dementia, promoting brain health and reducing the risk of developing dementia.

The post holder will ensure the effective delivery, monitoring and evaluation of our dementia-related services across the borough. You will supervise and work with the staff and volunteer team to provide a welcoming, inclusive environment within our Memory Tree Cafes and carers’ support groups which promotes interaction, stimulation and wellbeing. You will build and maintain positive working relationships across Age UK Croydon and with external partners, referrers and stakeholders, including health professionals and voluntary organisations, to develop and promote the service.

Age UK Croydon is currently reviewing its Dementia Service, and in this role the post holder will work closely with the Healthier Lifestyles Service Manager to put the review’s recommendations into practice, ensuring improvements and new monitoring systems are embedded across the service.

 Financial oversight, planning, and reporting

Review all financial transactions related to the ADB project on a monthly basis and ensure that they are correct including cost recovery, co-financing, bank balances, and coding.

Maintain an up-to-date audit and disallowance tracker for the ADB project, while supporting the Programme Finance Manager in tracking audit issues across all grants.

Troubleshoot donor compliance or procurement queries, with emphasis on ADB but extending to other donor portfolios where needed.

Act as a resource person for ADB donor compliance within AKF(UK), while sharing knowledge and lessons learned more widely across the grants portfolio.

Support wider Programme Finance team capacity-building efforts, drawing on insights from ADB donor requirements and practices.

Grant financial management

In close consultation with the programmes & partnerships team:

Maintain accurate financial records and grant codes for the ADB project, while supporting the set-up and management of other grants as needed.
Ensure timely submission of cash requests and sub-grant agreements, in compliance with both ADB and AKF(UK) standards, and support the same across the wider portfolio.

Review budgets for ADB and other donor concepts/proposals, ensuring inclusion of AKF(UK) costs, compliance with donor requirements, and consistency with narratives.

Support the in-country project management unit (PMU) to ensure that the project is robustly managed and proactively support the resolution of challenges as they arise.

Provide training and reference materials for implementing partners and field staff on ADB-specific donor regulations, procurement, and reporting, while contributing to broader finance training across the organisation.

Provide technical support and guidance to implementing partners and country units, with particular focus on ADB compliance but also assisting with other donor requirements as needed.

Conduct monitoring visits and spot checks on the ADB project and participate in risk monitoring across the wider portfolio.

Collaborate with the assigned Senior Partnerships Manager to align financial management with programme delivery.
Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Programme Finance Manager or the Head of Finance and Operations.
The role will involve travel to countries in which we operate grants, particularly Afghanistan (security situation dependent). Normally this could be 1-2 trips per year.

Main Responsibilities:

Office & Administrative Operations

• Manage day‑to‑day office operations to ensure a welcoming, efficient, and well‑organised working environment.

• Maintain digital and physical filing systems, ensuring documents are stored securely and are easy to locate.

• Support onboarding and practical arrangements for new staff, volunteers, and interns.

Executive & Team Support

• Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and wider leadership team, including diary coordination, travel booking, meeting preparation, and expense processing.

• Assist in preparing board papers, agendas, minutes, and follow‑up actions for ICC UK Board and sub‑committee meetings.

• Support internal communication by ensuring timely circulation of updates, documents, and scheduled reminders.

Finance & Compliance Support

• Assist with routine finance administration, including invoice processing, receipts collation, card reconciliation, and liaising with the ICC UK finance team as needed.

• Maintain accurate records for compliance, audits, safeguarding training, and policy renewals.

• Support contract and lease administration (e.g., office lease, supplier agreements, insurance renewals).

Event & Travel Coordination

• Coordinate logistics for UK events, training days, team gatherings, and visits from international colleagues.

• Manage bookings, venue arrangements, hospitality, travel itineraries, and attendee communications.

• Support international travel preparation, including documentation, itinerary organisation, and expense tracking.

Communications & Public-Facing Support

• Serve as a friendly first point of contact for enquiries via email, phone, and the ICC UK office address.

• Assist with maintaining contact databases and ensuring GDPR‑compliant data handling.

Systems & Organisation

• Maintain shared calendars, organisational systems, and internal workflows to ensure alignment across the team.

• Help ensure consistency of templates, branding, and standard documents across ICC UK.

The Role
Working with the Chief Executive and others, to develop a multi-disciplinary team covering income generation, marketing, communications and engagement to rasie c£2m income.

Review income generation, marketing and communications trends, approaches and evaluation frameworks. Conduct further research and evaluation as required and set against sector comparators.

Conduct analysis of the charitys audiences, both existing and potential, with a view to maximising opportunities for engagement, influence, giving and volunteering.

Create an integrated brand, marketing and income generation strategy, with clear delivery plans and evaluation frameworks.

Review and lead development of the individual giving programme, both traditional and digital, including membership, friends schemes and mid-level giving programme as a funnel to major gifts and legacies.

The Candidate
Track record at senior level with demonstrable experience across income generation, marketing and communications disciplines.

Demonstrable experience of building, implementing and evaluating income generation and engagement strategies.

Demonstrable experience of integrating brand, marketing and income generation strategies and the teams delivering them to achieve both financial and wider organisational targets (e.g. homing, influence etc.).

Budgetary understanding and experience; able to understand corporate budgets and management accounts, build and manage
annual budgets and accurately forecast both income and expenditure.

Significant experience of line management and team development, setting objectives and goals and holding regular supervision and one to-one meetings.
