World Bicycle Relief UK is a small and friendly team of four employees based across the UK.
Purpose of role
This new role is central to driving and expanding our development and advocacy work in the UK through the delivery of events and communications to support World Bicycle Relief’s mission, ensuring that more people are mobilised through the Power of Bicycles.
This role requires a strong partnership with the UK team, the Global Events Manager, members of the leadership team and other colleagues, ensuring that all work is robustly executed and aligned with organisational goals.
About the role
Working in the UK team, the role holder will provide high-level coordination and administrative support across a portfolio of strategic priorities and external engagement. The Development Co-ordinator will provide support to the UK team across a wide range of activity, principally events and communications around our developing influencing and advocacy strategy within the UK.
The role holder will provide co-ordination and administrative support for high-profile activities, including WBR’s presence at Skoll World Forum, London Climate Action Week and events around next year’s G20 summit in the UK. They will also be instrumental in maximising opportunities to work with external partners to develop new advocacy events.
The role holder will also undertake market analysis to understand the current UK landscape and inform the events and communications approach within influencing and partnerships. They will build a network of contacts and ensure that appropriate and compelling information about our work is shared to maximum effect. The role holder will build relationships with major players in the UK influencing and advocacy space, such as the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and funding partners.

Responsibilities
Events

Provide end-to-end operational support for specific UK events, including liaising with venues, partners and suppliers, obtaining quotes, coordinating travel and logistics, working with production teams, preparing materials, producing risk assessments, and creation of event documentation such as briefs, schedules and post-event evaluations.

Represent WBR UK at events, including acting as an Event Day Lead.

Support creation of reports, trackers and dashboards across the events portfolio using the CRM, ensuring high-quality data management.

Recruit and manage volunteers to support at events.

Prepare and review volunteer documentation and record keeping.
Communications

Provides oversight and follow up of communications channels, including email inboxes, voice mailboxes, incoming mail, and packages.

Undertake market and stakeholder analysis to build business intelligence across influencing and fundraising.

Draft communications and materials to support advocacy and partnerships, working with internal and external suppliers as required.

Maintain a database of UK journalists, agencies and other organisations to promote our advocacy and partnerships work, liaising with them as required

Other duties and support administrative tasks as needed.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Requirements

A combination of education and experience that yields the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Knowledge and skills in standard office procedures and software (e.g. Microsoft Office suite, Asana, Google Suite, and Salesforce).

Experience in delivering a wide variety of influencing or advocacy events.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Proven customer service skills.

While the role is advertised as full time, we will consider applications from those who wish to work part-time.
Travel requirements: While this role is remote/ home based, there is a requirement to attend events and meetings with partners, as well as team meetings. We estimate this at around 15 days per year. We are very happy to have a conversation around the flexible needs of candidates.
This role is UK based and you must have the legal right to work in the UK. A basic DBS disclosure will be required for this post.
