Interim Clerk of Works

Contract: 6 months +

The Role

An established housing provider is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works to support the delivery of major works and remediation projects across a residential portfolio.

The role provides on-site quality assurance, ensuring works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, building regulations, and recognised best practice. You’ll act as an independent quality presence on site, helping to drive compliance, raise standards, and resolve issues early.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake regular site inspections on major works and remediation schemes
• Monitor quality of workmanship and materials against drawings, specifications, and statutory requirements
• Ensure compliance with building regulations, fire safety standards, and approved details
• Identify defects, non-compliances, and quality risks, escalating issues where necessary
• Work collaboratively with contractors, consultants, and project teams to agree and track remedial actions
• Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and photographic evidence
• Support snagging, handover, and project close-out activities
• Promote a “right first time” culture across all works on site

About You

• Proven experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector, Construction Quality Manager, or similar
• Strong background in residential construction, with experience of major works and remediation projects
• Good working knowledge of UK building regulations, fire safety requirements, and construction best practice
• Confident operating independently on site and constructively challenging poor quality
• Able to produce clear, concise inspection reports and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders

Job Purpose

· To lead and shape School Food Matters’ policy and advocacy strategy, ensuring our voice influences national and local decision-making on school food and food education

· To design and deliver campaigns that support and advance SFM’s mission

· To line manage the Press and Communications Officer and Policy and Communications Assistant

Key Tasks

· Lead and provide strategic input to campaigns, convene groups and partnerships

· Represent SFM at external meetings and coalitions such as the School Food Review

· Monitor, analyse and interpret relevant research, policy developments and news, identifying implications or opportunities for SFM

· Oversee the strategic direction of SFM’s external affairs and communications, ensuring all policy, campaigns, and public messaging align with the charity’s mission and priorities

· Provide policy research and analysis to support the activities of the School Food Review

· Oversee meetings and governance for the School Food Alliance

· At least two years post degree experience

The Peer Support In-Reach Service is a partnership between several local Minds. Senior Peer Support Workers and Peer Support Workers, who have direct lived experience of mental health issues, are working on in-patient wards in Croydon, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Wandsworth to provide recovery-focused peer support to people as they leave hospital and journey towards living independently in the community.

We are seeking a Senior Peer Support Worker to join the team in Lewisham and line manage the Peer Support Workers.

You will use your lived experience whilst on the ward to help people to build skills to manage their home, finances, connect with family and friends, pursue social or vocational interests, to get more involved in their local community and to stay physically and mentally well. 

Your support will be person-centred and may include mentoring, coaching, emotional support and facilitating access to community activities, practical support, work or study.  The role will be ward-based initially until the patient is ready for discharge; you will then work with them to develop their support plans and goals. You will support them with the transition into the community for up to 6 weeks, helping them to connect with community resources to ensure they are well-supported in the community and working towards their goals.

About this role

Our Global Programmes Department (GPD) works on an innovative partnership model to deliver our mission to transform the welfare of working animals in a world where animals, people and the environment are respected and thrive. 

This exciting role will join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to support an ambitious work plan by scoping, defining and advancing key new project areas and strategic initiatives. The Special Projects Manager will work closely with our international partners and the wider organisation and will report to our Head of Programmes.

The successful candidate for this role will work on a diverse and exciting range of projects. The projects will seek to expand our impact through developing innovative approaches to achieving sustainable improvements in working animal welfare. These might include: 

• exploring options for social business models, and assessing how they can be best applied to animal welfare in low-income settings 

• scoping and developing synergistic partnerships with development sector actors 

• country-specific analysis on specific challenges to working animal welfare in complex situations. 

The Special Projects Manager will scope and analyse different project areas, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and commissioning and overseeing subject matter experts, as needed, to progress different areas.

This role would suit an experienced, innovative and creative project manager who enjoys strategic analysis of complex scenarios with different stakeholders, interests and actors. Experience of research, policy and working across sectors would be an asset, alongside a commitment to social equity and our mission and values. 

Contract, location and salary

This role is central to supporting the Senior Communications Officer in the day-to-day running of their service. You will be responsible for producing impactful marketing and communications content, providing coordination support for events and activities, and doing outreach to ensure local communities are aware of our services. You will also be proactive, keeping abreast of developments and opportunities in the sector to raise the profile of our work. You will be highly organised and detail-focused, a compelling communicator, and confident to take initiative.

Collaboration with colleagues is an essential part of this role and you will enjoy working with others and be a valued partner, peer and colleague. You will need to be highly responsive to the needs of colleagues, service users, partners, and be able to provide practical solutions for a range of situations. This is an entry-level post, and you will be encouraged and supported to grow and develop your skills and expertise in Communications.

At the forefront of its innovative services delivery is the award-winning Tower Project Job, Enterprise, and Training (JET) Service, East London’s leading provider of supported employment and training services for young people and adults with learning disabilities and autism.

As Job Coach, you will empower adults of all ages with learning disabilities and autism to build real workplace skills through our paid accessible apprenticeship programmes. You will deliver focused, hands-on coaching to help apprentices succeed on their apprenticeships and progress into sustained employment, whether with their placement host or another employer.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Job Coaching

You will provide hands-on workplace coaching that enables clients to develop competence, independence and resilience, supporting successful progression into sustained employment.

• Deliver in-work coaching, breaking tasks into manageable steps and systematically fading support.
• Conduct detailed job and task analysis to ensure clarity of role expectations.
• Support apprentices to develop technical skills, workplace behaviours and professional standards.
• Produce in work communication passports for apprentices and identify and implement reasonable adjustments in partnership with employers.
• Support apprentices to manage workplace anxiety, communication differences and confidence barriers.
• Develop natural workplace supports, including peer mentors and team-based assistance.
• Provide structured travel training to promote independent commuting.
• Monitor progress against apprenticeship goals and employment outcome targets.

Employer Partnerships and Placement Support

Maintain professional, positive relationships with employers and placement hosts secured through the JET employer engagement strategy.

• Act as the key day-to-day contact for employers once an apprentice is placed.
• Support employers to implement inclusive practices and reasonable adjustments.
• Provide guidance on supporting employees with learning disabilities and autism.
• Identify progression opportunities within existing employer partnerships.
• Escalate new employer development opportunities to the Employment Support Team.

Advice, Guidance and Development

You will deliver structured, person-centred support that enables clients to clarify their employment aspirations and take practical, achievable steps towards sustained paid work

• Develop vocational profiles identifying strengths, aspirations and support needs.
• Deliver structured one-to-one sessions reviewing progress and updating action plans.
• Support development of employability skills including CV preparation, interview techniques and workplace communication.
• Encourage independence, resilience and self-advocacy.

Monitoring & Reporting

• You will ensure accurate tracking of client progress and contribute to demonstrating service impact.
•  Maintain accurate and up-to-date digital records and action plans.
• Track outcomes and contribute to performance data and reporting requirements.
• Contribute case studies and evidence demonstrating sustained employment outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, data protection and health and safety policies.
• Support employers with completing workplace risk assessments prior to placement start.

Professional Responsibilities

• You will uphold high professional standards while contributing to the overall success of the service.
• Work towards agreed KPIs relating to sustained employment and progression.
• Participate in supervision, appraisal and ongoing professional development.
