Job description

ROLE PURPOSE - Summary

This role is for an agile Policy & Communications Manager in our Partnerships, Policy and Planning team to cover maternity leave. You will act as a bridge between global policy, audience data and insight, and our creative output.

In your role you will translate complex global challenges into simple, human, and actionable campaign hooks that fuel our creative and events teams. You’ll gather the data and insight behind our strategy and campaigns, and build relationships across the NGO sector so we can learn from our partners’ expertise.

On the Comms side, You will write copy for campaigns and websites and help guide our social media freelancer to maintain the Global Goals social channels, ensuring subject matter, tone and copy align with our strategic priorities. On occasion, you will manage PR/media relations agencies during our biggest campaign moments

ABOUT THE ROLE - Key Responsibilities

Advocacy & Creative Fuel

  • Policy & Insight Translation: Take complex policy, from global agreements to how they’re put into action, blend it with audience insight, and develop simple briefs that inspire our creative and events teams.
  • Milestone Scanning: Monitor the global calendar for key moments to align our campaigns to and recommend new opportunities beyond our usual campaign or tentpole moments.
  • Content Generation: Draft and refine high-standard communication products, including concept notes, briefings, decks, and website copy that bring our campaigns to life.

External Agency & PR Management

  • Digital Editorial Guidance: Act as the core context provider and fact checker for our external social media agency, reviewing copy and campaign assets for absolute accuracy before publication.
  • PR Agency Campaign Management: Manage day-to-day contact with any external PR agencies supporting our major campaign peaks, tracking timelines and deliverables.
  • Partner Alignment: Maintain and develop existing relationships with communication and advocacy peers across UN agencies, NGOs, and civil society partners. Impact Evaluation & Reporting Support
  • Measuring and Reporting Impact : Work closely with the Director to support the monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes for core projects.
  • Reporting to Funders: Help gather campaign data, analyse performance metrics, and translate numbers into clear, narrative-driven impact round-ups for funding partners. Project & Fiscal Delivery
  • Timeline Ownership: Manage project timelines and flag obstacles to seamless delivery.
  • Budget Management:Track project budgets, provide updates and flag risks.

ABOUT YOU - Essential Competencies, Skills and Experience

  • Communications Experience: Demonstrated professional experience across campaigns, communications, research or strategy, with a proven ability to turn complex issues and information into clear, engaging briefs, decks and copy.
  • Audience Insight & Creative Fuel: Ability to combine audience data with global policy to craft inspiring creative briefs for campaign and event teams.
  • Horizon Scanning: A sharp instinct for global affairs and cultural trends, with the ability to spot emerging moments and help shape timely messaging.
  • Agency Coordination: Experience working alongside external PR, communications, or creative agencies, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-starter & Prioritisation: Comfortable managing competing priorities autonomously, tracking timelines and budgets, and knowing when to escalate
  • Inclusive & Collaborative Mindset: Highly collaborative team player committed to embedding diverse perspectives, cultural insights, and lived experiences into all campaign outputs.
