Job description

Family Rights Group is seeking a talented events and engagement professional to lead on communications and stakeholder engagement for our Family Group Conference (FGC) and Lifelong Links programme, as part of our ambitious scale-up across the UK, while also contributing to the charity's wider communications work.

Highly motivated and with significant experience stakeholder engagement, including written and audio-visual content creation, media management, and network engagement, you will help grow the profile, reach and impact of our FGC and Lifelong Links programme and the wider organisation.

The charity has been at the forefront of introducing family group conferences (FGCs) in the UK since the 1990s. Our ambition is that FGCs become a common approach across the child welfare system to embed partnership working between families and the state to address needs and resolve safeguarding concerns in relation to a child.

In 2016 Family Rights Group collaborated with a number of local authorities and other stakeholders, including young people in care, their families, foster carers and social workers, to develop Lifelong Links. The aim of Lifelong Links is to ensure that children in care have a positive support network to help them practically and emotionally during their time in care and later as young adults.

We have recently secured a significant investment to scale up delivery of Lifelong Links across the country over the next 18 months. This exciting opportunity enables us to strengthen the core programme team for Lifelong Links, and also Family Group Conferences, while we continue to attract new funding and national (as well as international) interest in the methods and outcomes of both.

Communications and engagement, including through events, are central to how Family Rights Group builds the profile of, and grows, the National FGC Network and Lifelong Links scale-up as it expands across the UK, and this role will therefore play a core role in the scale-up, while also contributing to the charity's wider communications activity.

Family Rights Group’s vision is a society in which children can thrive in their families, and have loving relationships to turn to throughout life.

We are the leading specialist child welfare charity working to make that a reality. We are unique in bringing together legal and social work expertise, advice giving, and policy and campaigning, with the direct voice and insights of young people and families.

Founded in 1974, our work combines commitment to human rights and social justice with expertise in child welfare law, policy and practice.

We have recently secured significant investment to scale up the implementation of Lifelong Links, one of our core programmes which enables care experienced young people to have loving relationships around them, over the next 18 months. This has enabled us to expand our team, including with the creation of a critical new role to lead on Events and Engagement.

As Coordinator, you will develop and deliver communications and engagement activity that supports the national scaling of Family Rights Group's Family Group Conference (FGC) and Lifelong Links programme, while contributing to the charity's wider communications and engagement work.
