We are River Action

We are a small and agile campaigning organisation on a mission to rescue the UK’s rivers from a toxic cocktail of agricultural, sewage and industrial pollution and water shortages. We support community action, galvanise public opinion, influence government policy, take legal action and call out destructive industrial practices to drive change that will end river pollution and secure freshwater.

We are a talented team of positive disrupters and mobilisers who work collaboratively to deliver our strategy to urgently protect and restore our rivers for the benefit of communities, rivers and wildlife.

Our rivers are our life support system and they are dying. We need urgent action to bring them back to life.

What you’ll be doing

The Senior Campaign Analyst will play a vital role in strengthening the reach, effectiveness and impact of River Action’s campaigns. By turning data into actionable insights, you will help us better understand our audiences, grow our supporter base and ensure our digital communications and campaign activities deliver meaningful results.

Working closely with teams across the charity, the Senior Campaign Analyst will track and evaluate performance, identify opportunities for innovation and improvement, and help shape evidence-led campaign strategies.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyse and report on campaign actions and digital communications performance across River Action's website, River Rescue Kit, social media, email and paid channels, identifying trends, measuring impact and proactively recommending improvements.

  • Develop and maintain robust tracking and reporting systems including the Google Analytics suite and Tag Manager, to provide accurate, accessible and actionable insights into campaign effectiveness.

  • Conduct audience and engagement analysis, using segmentation, conversion analysis, A/B testing and analytics to understand supporter behaviour and optimise digital communications and supporter journeys.

  • Manage and evaluate paid channels and creative performance across platforms including Meta and Google Ads, identifying the content, messaging, formats and creative approaches that drive engagement, supporter acquisition and conversions.

  • Support the development and optimisation of digital campaign strategies, working closely with colleagues to ensure audience insights, performance data and campaign learnings inform future activity and maximise reach, engagement and impact.

  • Drive audience growth and supporter acquisition, identifying innovative digital tactics, industry best practice, emerging opportunities and potential influencer partnerships to expand River Action's reach and influence.

  • Support the development and optimisation of River Action's website and digital content, ensuring it is engaging, relevant, accessible and optimised for search engines (SEO) and AI-powered search (AEO).

  • Develop and improve reporting standards, strengthening data quality, and consistency across the organisation.

  • Support the creation and publishing of social media content when the Digital Communications Coordinator is away, as part of a shared team approach.

  • Collaborate across campaign, communications, fundraising, public affairs teams, staying informed about organisational priorities and ensuring insights are embedded into campaign planning, delivery and evaluation.

General Duties & Responsibilities

  • Adopt a positive approach to personal and professional development; engaging in one to one meetings and relevant training.

  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of work at River Action.

  • UK travel will be required. Training & operational activities may require overnight stays away from home, in which case standard River Action procedures apply.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to creating an inclusive, equal and diverse workplace.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across River Action to collectively deliver our ethos and mission.
