The Opportunity

This is a senior strategic leadership role, responsible for shaping and delivering Scouts' targeted growth, innovation, and externally funded programmes.

You will work as part of the Movement Support & Growth Department, which exists to support the conditions for local Scouting to thrive. Importantly, since Scouts is a volunteer-led movement, your role will be to enable, influence, and strengthen the delivery of Scouts to young people.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

About You

You don't need to come from a Scouting background, but you will bring:

• Experience leading large-scale programmes, portfolios or innovation work
• Strong understanding of funded or grant-funded programmes
• Ability to translate strategy into scalable delivery models
• Experience working with or alongside underrepresented communities, building trust and sustainable engagement
• Confidence influencing across complex, matrixed organisations
• A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to empower specialist teams and volunteers

About the role

Reporting in to the Director of Finance and Corporate Governance, the Head of Governance, Compliance, and Risk will ensure robust governance, compliance, and risk management across Christian Aid and its subsidiaries which enables effective decision making.

The post-holder will be the the trusted advisor and subject matter expert in corporate governance on behalf of the Board, overseeing legal and regulatory compliance, develops and implementing a comprehensive risk management framework, and leading an internal audit programme that fosters organisational learning. The role will enhance and protect Christian Aid’s reputation and financial integrity while embedding best practices in governance and compliance.

Some of the main areas of responsibility for the Head of Governance, Compliance, and Risk include:

• Support effective trustee succession planning, effective Board meetings, and support for the Governance and Nominations Committee to ensure effective Board Governance.
• Provide expert advice on legal structures for subsidiaries, including Christian Aid Ireland.
• Provide high quality briefings with suggested solutions having sought professional advice where more specialist knowledge is required
• Establish and implement a comprehensive risk management framework including registers and appetite statements to guide directorate-level risk management.
• Develop a compliance culture covering data protection, money laundering, counter-terrorism, sanctions management, fraud prevention, and misuse of funds.
• Complete all regulatory filings (Charity Commission, OSCR, Companies House, ICO) within deadlines to avoid penalties.
• Implement an agreed internal audit plan reviewed by the Audit and Risk Committee to ensure assurance over key controls.
• Evaluate key contracts to ensure compliance and provide legal advice using external panels when necessary.
• Lead a team empowering others to drive progress and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
• Define team's responsibilities and drive the team to promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge to maximise impact and achieve outstanding results.

About you

Who we are looking for:

Essential:

• Professional qualification in law, accountancy, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or corporate governance (ICSA).
• Extensive experience (5+ years) in UK Charity and corporate governance, compliance, and risk management within complex organisations.
• Demonstrable expertise in managing legislative changes and interpreting regulations.
• Advanced understanding of legal frameworks (e.g. data protection laws), regulatory requirements, risk management principles, and internal audit processes.
• Exceptional analytical skills for interpreting legislation; ability to communicate technical information effectively to non-specialist audiences; negotiation skills for resolving disputes.

Desirable:

• Experience acting as legal counsel
• Informed on legal, regulatory and sector developments

Reporting in to the Head of Communications, the Media and Public Relations Lead, will direct and lead the media relations strategy for Christian Aid to garner media coverage that is on brand and consistent with Christian Aid influencing, communications and fundraising goals.

The post-holder will lead the strategic planning and oversight of Christian Aid’s media and public relations strategy, raising the profile of the organisation among influencers in politics, public life and the Church, as well as Christian Aid supporters, motivating them to give, act and pray.

• Manage the team to generate high profile media coverage and to create messaging that positions Christian Aid as a credible and influential organisation. 
• Deliver and shape the strategic planning and oversight of Christian Aid’s media and public engagement strategy, raising the profile of the organisation among influencers in politics, public life and the Church, as well as supporters, motivating them to give, act and pray, driving meaningful change.

This peer support project is delivered in partnership with South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust to support Carers of people with mental health conditions.  This project will work to support Carers through one-to-one support, outreach, training and peer support groups.

Using your lived experience of caring for someone with a mental health condition, and a strengths-based approach, you will support mental health Carers in their caring role.  You will provide person centred one-to-one- support, information, signposting, and advocacy, develop, and facilitate peer support groups and deliver training and outreach sessions at different locations across the borough.

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Mentor to join our team based in RBKC to support our residents who have multiple and complex needs which could include mental health, substance use, homelessness, and/or offending backgrounds. You will support in providing our residents with the support needed to help them overcome their personal barriers, and achieve their goals in a person centred approach. You will work within a residential setting, creating a safe and comfortable space which our residents can call their homes during their time within the service.

Some Key Responsibilities Include:

• Create tailored support plans through one to one sessions, group sessions, and multi agency meetings.
• Support residents to achieve their desired goals/outcomes in various ways.
• Empower residents to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.
• Supporting residents to build independence and progress in their healing through engaging activities, from movie nights and arts and crafts to brunch club and fully funded day trips.
• Monitor residents’ wellbeing, carrying out regular welfare checks, and responding to any incidents or emergencies.

• Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds and/or a good understanding of the sector, particularly around multiple and complex needs

• Ability to use, learn and adapt to IT at an intermediate level, including Microsoft and other software programs
• Ability and willingness to show flexibility of working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents

About the Role

We're hiring a Housing Support Worker to join our floating support service which is based in Brent. The service supports adults who have been or are at risk of homelessness, have experienced social exclusion, have previous criminal convictions, suffer with their mental health, have substance misuse, and/or could have a learning disability. You will support participants on their journey towards recovery, reablement, and independence, all within a compassionate, trauma informed environment.

In this role, you'll be at the heart of delivering high quality, person centered support through tailored support plans which provide practical interventions, to empower our participants to overcome personal challenges, develop life skills, and achieve their personal goals. • Support participants will all aspects of their housing needs to support them ensure sustainable housing.
• Co-create tailored support plans which are centered towards the participants needs.
• Signpost participants with local providers to support with their independence such as with Job Centres, employment support hubs, community support centres, mental health trusts and other as relevant.
• Recognise support needs in an individual and initiate appropriate interventions to prevent further deterioration.

About Chapter One 

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in thirteen areas/regions of the UK and will support over 4,000 children in 2026-27.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (Y1-3) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability. 

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading. About the Role

Chapter One is seeking a London Programme Manager who is an excellent communicator and is able both to motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year. 

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently in and around North London. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work some additional hours during busy autumn weeks, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers.

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms.

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up.

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom.

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and effectively communicate this to others as needed.

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles.

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed.  

• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise.

• Analyse and manipulate data (largely in Google sheets) to produce reports and identify trends.

• Create regular data summaries for all participating classrooms.

• Lead annual review meetings for senior leadership at participating schools.

• Support programme monitoring, evaluation and research as required.

• Coordinate in person and virtual school ‘visits’ of volunteer teams to classrooms where necessary. This may include opportunities for Chapter One children to visit the office of the volunteers.

• Liaison with corporate partners as required.

• Weekly communication and status updates with Senior Programme Manager(s) and wider team.

• As a new school year approaches, secure commitments from returning schools and help find and target new schools to join Chapter One’s programme. 

We are looking for applicants with the following essential qualities:

• Highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. 

• Proven track record of working at a senior level in education, project management or a related field. 

• Proven strength in both written and verbal communication. 

• Highly IT literate, with excellent computer skills, able to troubleshoot software and technical  hardware issues, adept with Google suite and Microsoft Teams.

• Ability to manipulate and analyse data to draw useful conclusions to improve programme delivery.
