We are looking for the right motivation, skills and aptitudes more than academic qualifications.  Please note that this role is not a foot in the door for those who want to pursue a career in peacemaking.

Key responsibilities

Finance Administration 

• Together with the Finance Manager (Strategic) and the Co-Director, ensure that the charity’s finances are well managed and accounts are kept up to date. 

• Maintain overall responsibility for accounts receivable, and support the Finance Manager (Strategic) with accounts payable.

• Working together with the Finance Manager (Strategic), ensure all income and expenditure is entered onto the electronic book-keeping system (currently Quickbooks) accurately and in a timely manner, and assigned to relevant funds in accordance with funders’ requirements and restrictions.

• Ensure all donation details are correctly entered into the Donorfy fundraising database. 

• Ensure imported data in the accounting systems reconciles accurately with recorded transactions, and produce bank reconciliations as needed. 

Finance Management 

• Implement and monitor day-to-day financial controls, ensuring all processes meet audit and internal control standards. Ensure proper document storage, coding and audit trails for all transactions. 

• Support the Finance Manager (Strategic) in reviewing and updating operational finance procedures and ensuring organisation-wide compliance. 

• Working closely with the Finance Manager (Strategic) and the Co-Director, support improvements to finance systems and workflows. 

• Act as a bank signatory where appropriate.

Income Management 

• Ensure that all grants and other income due to the charity are received and managed in line with funder conditions and restrictions. 

• Issue and track invoices to ensure all income owed to the charity is collected promptly. 

• Ensure all cheques / cash income received is deposited into the current account in a timely manner. 

• Support fundraising and individual giving colleagues by providing accurate, timely financial information on a weekly basis to strengthen donor stewardship and reporting. 

• Maintain accurate records of gift aid declarations made. Prepare and submit regular Gift Aid claims to maximise eligible income. 

• Maintain accurate records of gift-in-kind and pro bono donations, organisational assets and restricted funds. 

• Ensure all income is recorded consistently across both the financial system and the fundraising database, working closely with the Individual Giving Manager to ensure alignment and information flow. 

Operational Reporting & Support 

• Provide financial administration support across the organisation, including for delivery teams and fundraising colleagues. 

• Work closely with the Finance Manager (Strategic) to ensure accurate information flows between operational processing and financial planning/reporting. 

• Provide responsive support to staff, helping them navigate finance processes confidently and consistently. 

• Support the Finance Manager (Strategic) to prepare quarterly financial updates and Management accounts, as well as annual financial statements. 

• Support the Finance Manager (Strategic) and Co-Director with payroll, pension reports and human resources management when required. 

• Attend the quarterly Finance & HR committee meetings and contribute to preparing papers as needed. 

General

In this role, you will support residents who have a history of forensic mental health issues with co morbidity, often alongside co-occurring substance misuse disorders. The residents range from high risk to low support and our aim is to provide tailored support to help them reintegrate into the community. 

As a  Complex Needs Recovery Worker, you will identify individual resident needs, and provide person centred, tailored support to residents to help them overcome their personal challenges and achieve their goals. About You

We're looking for a genuine passion for supporting people who may have complex needs which includes forensic mental health. You will be a self motivated individual who is able to be proactive in managing your own time during busy or quiet periods to ensure productivity. Experience in mental health or support work is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. You will be able to work collaboratively as part of a team, and will have alignment with our SIG values. You will be keen to support our residents to achieve their individual goals and support them to be the best versions of themselves.

Key Responsibilities:

● Operational Management and Governance: Ensure AH services meet quality standards and regulations via Senior Management oversight; identify and manage risks, and stay updated on UN ECOSOC developments.

● Strategic development and external relations: Lead strategic vision and planning, ensuring alignment with business objectives; cultivate networks and relationships to stay informed and advocate for AH services; represent AH locally and internationally, serving as spokesperson and promoting mental health initiatives for women affected by domestic violence.

● Human Resource Management and Leadership: Inspire and lead staff and volunteers; foster a high-performance learning culture through effective management and communication; establish reporting systems for operational accountability; oversee salary and HR policies in consultation with trustees.

● Project Management: Define project briefs and outcomes for each funded project according to governance standards; approve or seek approval for business cases, receive progress reports, and address risks or issues; make decisions regarding changes in line with established governance protocols.

● Board of Trustees, Advisory Committees and Sub-Committees: Assist the Chair and Secretary in recruiting and onboarding new Trustees; ensure effective support for AH’s Board and Advisory and Sub-Committees; attend Board meetings and facilitate sound advice to the Management Committee, foster communication between Board and operational staff, and ensure the effective implementation of Board decisions.

Required Qualifications:

About the Role

As Interim Advice Manager, you’ll manage an advice service across multiple sites, leading staff and volunteers who deliver advice on benefits, housing, debt and immigration. You’ll combine hands-on delivery (including a small caseload) with oversight of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities
 

• Lead day-to-day delivery of the advice service, including setting objectives, managing performance, and providing supervision and feedback to staff and volunteers
• Hold a small caseload to stay connected to frontline delivery and community needs
• Maintain high-quality, compliant advice provision, ensuring delivery aligns with funder expectations and internal standards
• Use case management systems to report on cases and outcomes, supporting funding needs and future applications
• Drive service development, reviewing procedures, improving systems, and supporting expansion aligned to organisational strategy
• Undertake quality assurance activity (including case checking and advice audits) and keep colleagues informed of relevant policy/legislation changes
• Support effective volunteer management, including induction, support, supervision and retention activity
• Contribute to budgets, monitoring, evaluation, stakeholder feedback, and action planning to strengthen service effectiveness
• Work within the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) framework, ensuring policies and procedures remain current and audit-ready

 
 
Skills / Experience Required
 

• At least 3 years’ experience in welfare advice or casework within the charity sector
• Strong people management experience (including supporting and developing staff/volunteers)
• Strong project/service improvement experience, with confidence managing competing priorities
• Knowledge across welfare benefits, housing, debt and/or immigration, plus safeguarding understanding
• Confidence using case management systems and using data to inform reporting and improvements
• Experience of the Advice Quality Standard, work with refugees and asylum seekers, and/or community language skills (e.g., Arabic, Farsi, Somali) – desirable
