As Philanthropy Manager, you will support the development of this high-value programme, taking ownership of a growing portfolio of donors and prospects while playing a key role in shaping a programme that is still at a relatively early stage of maturity in the UK.
Reporting to the Director of UK Fundraising, you will manage a portfolio of c.120–150 donors and prospects, primarily across mid-level giving, with the opportunity to deepen relationships and grow supporters into higher-value philanthropy over time. You will take a hands-on, relationship-led approach to fundraising, building meaningful engagement and delivering long-term income growth.
This role offers genuine scope to help build and evolve Smile Train’s high-value fundraising approach in the UK. You will contribute to developing ways of working, testing engagement strategies and helping to shape the case for support, working closely with colleagues in the UK and globally.
As Philanthropy Manager, you will:
- Manage and develop a portfolio of c.120–150 donors and prospects, primarily at mid-value level, with potential to grow into major giving
- Build strong, long-term relationships with supporters through tailored cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
- Identify and engage new prospects, developing a sustainable pipeline of future high-value donors
- Develop and deliver individual engagement plans to retain and upgrade donors over time
- Prepare high-quality proposals, reports and communications to support donor engagement
- Support the development of Smile Train’s high-value case for support and fundraising approach in the UK

Essential skills and experience:
- Experience of relationship fundraising, with exposure to major donors, mid-value giving and/or trusts & foundations

- Confidence in managing a portfolio and delivering personalised donor engagement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop compelling proposals

Therefore, we are delivering our most ambitious strategy yet, that will see us raising at least £215m over the 5-year period.

About the Campaigns and Public Affairs Manager role
In this varied and exciting position, you will manage high profile WI campaigns and play a key role in achieving change on key issues affecting women and their community.
The Campaigns and Public Affairs Manager provides essential management of the Public Affairs team and its activities- including campaigning, lobbying, research and policy work- whilst working closely with the Director of Campaigns and Membership to maintain a strategic overview of the department’s work.

The ability to represent the NFWI externally- to civil servants, government departments and external organisations- as well as working closely with volunteers and members at a grassroots level is also key.

Role Purpose:
As Retention & Development Manager, you’ll grow sustainable income by keeping individual supporters inspired, informed and engaged - so they give again, stay longer, and deepen their support. You will deliver excellent supporter journey experience, project managing engaging and compelling direct, and digital individual giving activity (including – but not limited to – appeals, regular giving conversion & upgrade, lapsed reactivation) and incorporating legacies marketing, raising more than £1m voluntary income each year.
What success looks like:
- Higher Life-Time Value (LTV): more second gifts, upgrades and cross channel giving; stronger legacy pipeline.
- Lower churn: reduced lapse rates for cash and regular givers.

Key Responsibilities
Supporter Experience & Journeys:
- Map and continually improve journeys: welcome → second gift; regular giving nurture/upgrade; mid-value; legacy prospecting; lapsed reactivation; complaint recovery.
- Set cadence and channel mix (email, mail, phone, SMS, social, events, digital) for consistent, donor‑first communications in appropriate channels and accessible formats.
- Donor-first approach: clear, inclusive language; accessible formats; low‑friction giving/retention flows and personalisation e.g. name, last gift, interests, location, project etc.

Acquisition & Cross‑Sell:

- Collaborate with Webshop team and the Digital Marketing Campaigns Manager to optimise Alternative Gifts and cross-sell opportunities focusing on a digital first approach.
Cross-Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Supporter Experience Team to ensure that supporter journeys are being optimised and feedback from supporters is being captured and acted upon.

Our Events & Communications Senior Coordinator role sits across all three of our garden sites, supporting our income generating private venue hire as well as our community facing workshops and event programme. Working closely with all parts of the organisation, this person helps to tell the story of the charity through our social media, website, newsletter and other channels.

Job Purpose: To promote the New Story Garden, Floating Garden and Paper Garden in King’s Cross and Canada Water as event spaces for private and commercial use. To be responsible for delivering the annual events plan and associated budget in order to generate a profit to be reinvested into our community and youth programmes and build of community gardens. To organise and run events in the spaces and manage a team of people where needed depending on the size of the events. To produce communications and marketing materials for the organisation according to agreed style guides and templates.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The role has 2 main strands:
- VENUE HIRE & EVENTS Communicating venue hire and supporting partnerships with corporates and individuals to aid fundraising, and leading on the facilitation of those events
- COMMUNICATIONS AND CREATIVE CAMPAIGNS Supporting the wider work of the team by communicating our objectives and achievements, maintaining an engaging and imaginative stream of content that allows GG's work to reach new audiences
Development and strategic
- Work with the Global Generation team to deliver communication strategy highlighting the achievements and objectives of the organisation and building our brand
- Contribute to existing vision, business plan and implementation for venue hire and events at Global Generation
- Jointly responsible for ensuring that venue hire and the events programme makes a profit, working towards an agreed target
Events Planning & Delivery
- Develop, promote and deliver a programme of events in our garden sites, emphasising the uniqueness of each site, as well as assist with larger fundraising events
- Customer relations: First point of contact for new bookings and enquiries via phone and email ; Conduct site visits for potential clients
- Financial & event administration: Draw up quotes for hire costs, process and approve invoices & payments, manage events budgets, track spending and income, manage contracting, scheduling, menus, brochures and terms and conditions (parts to be carried out by Office Assistant)
Partnerships and relationships
- Actively maintain relationships and networks with individuals, organisations and developers
- Understand, value and work together with the GG team to ensure that there is a good balance between commercial priorities and community priorities, to avoid clashing with or limiting the use of spaces for educational and community events. Where possible add value by merging commercial and community.
Communications and Creative Campaigns
- Support delivery of existing communications strategy across the organisation, including monthly newsletter, regular social media schedule, practical copyediting, typesetting and design support for annual outputs.
- Create and deliver creative communication materials and publications for use in the media and online that help bring Global Generation’s work to life
- Utilise existing branding guidelines and templates to create consistent social graphics, newsletter headers and venue hire documents

Role Purpose
The Head of Philanthropy is accountable for delivering significant philanthropic income for Justice & Care, including through personally secured major gifts, alongside building and leading a high-performing philanthropy function.
The postholder will design and execute the philanthropy strategy, hold and actively manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, and personally secure five- and sixfigure gifts through direct relationship management and solicitation.

Global Scope
This role will support the growth of philanthropy across multiple markets, including strengthening the UK portfolio and developing opportunities in the US and emerging markets (e.g. Middle East), working closely with senior stakeholders to shape and deliver market-specific approaches.
Main Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to:
1. Strategic Leadership and Income Delivery
- Lead the development and delivery of the philanthropy strategy, with a clear focuson generating major donor income in the UK and driving growth in the US and emerging markets

- Convert access to senior networks into tangible income outcomes
3. Team Leadership and Development
- Line manage and develop the Philanthropy Specialist and future members of the team
- Build capability within the team to support pipeline growth, donor stewardship and future expansion of the philanthropy function
- Establish strong ways of working, including prioritisation, pipeline management and CRM discipline
- Set clear objectives and KPIs for the team
4. Events and Strategic Engagement
- Design and lead a programme of philanthropic events with clear income andpipeline objectives
- Personally leverage high-value donor events to progress relationships towards major gifts
- Use international engagement and trips selectively where they support donor cultivation and solicitation
- Represent Justice & Care in philanthropic networks to generate new donor relationships
5. Pipeline, CRM and Reporting
- Own and maintain a live, decision-ready major donor pipeline
