Role Purpose
Southwark Cathedral has been a place of Christian worship for over 1400 years. Now it stands on the vibrant and exciting regenerated south bank of the Thames surrounded by cultural venues such as Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and Borough Market, the offices of major companies as well as schools and diverse residential communities. The Cathedral’s mission, ministry and musical tradition are core to its life as a Cathedral and a parish church serving the community. It also relies on the valuable financial contribution made by its income generating activities such as its shop, café, conference rooms, corporate events and concerts. It is a very busy place, attracting over 200,000 visitors a year to the Cathedral, its churchyard and medieval herb garden. The Cathedral relies on a small but dedicated team to be inclusive and welcoming to all.

The Events & Enterprises Assistant will be expected to work within the diverse and inclusive ethos of Southwark Cathedral. They should be able to be flexible and creative in maximising the opportunities for commercial income alongside the worshipping and community life of the Cathedral. The post-holder will also be expected to work closely with staff and volunteers from all areas of Cathedral life.
Role Overview
The Events & Enterprises Assistant is an exciting role offering both administrative and practical support to the Cathedral and its trading company Southwark Cathedral Enterprises Limited (SCEL). The post-holder will provide key administrative support to the COO, who is Company Secretary of SCEL, as well as giving broad practical support to the Head of Events to help deliver the special events and commercial meeting-room business.
The post-holder will provide support to the Head of Events in the delivery of a colourful programme of special events in the Cathedral space. Each year we hold a number of private parties, dinners and fundraising events as well as concerts, memorial events and carol services. The Head of Events holds the responsibility for converting special event enquiries into confirmed visits, relationship management and this post will share event management ‘on the day’, to ensure the smooth and safe delivery of often complex largescale events. Most often working one year ahead of the event, the post-holder will provide administrative and operational support for preparations and the delivery of the events by completion of operational notes, RAMS or similar.
Additionally, the Events & Enterprises Assistant will be responsible for the effective day- to-day management of commercial bookings for the Cathedral’s meeting rooms. Our conference business, comprising three main meeting rooms of varying sizes, has a wide client base drawn from the commercial, government, charity and national health sectors and many of the bookings are repeat business. The meeting rooms have an excellent reputation and are popular with clients and for managing the clients’ experience from initial enquiry to final invoice. The post-holder will provide a welcome to clients on arrival, 3 ensuring that their room, IT and catering specifications have been met and manage their requirements during their stay.
They will also work closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager on communications campaigns which are relevant to the Cathedral’s conference and special events business activity.
The post-holder will support the work of the Board of Enterprises by organising the annual schedule of Board meetings – booking meeting rooms, setting up technology and refreshments on the day, attending and minuting meetings and acting as a point of contact for members of the Board. They will also support the Cathedral’s COO in their role as Company Secretary of SCEL - assisting them with correspondence, meeting arrangements, collation of papers and drafting reports for meetings and liaising where necessary with the finance team.

- Engage and inspire supporters – be the first point of contact for donors, providing excellent supporter care and building lasting relationships.

We are seeking a detail-oriented finance professional with strong ledger and reconciliation experience to join our Finance and Legacy Administration team as Finance Officer. You’ll play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the charity whilst working alongside the Finance Officer (Payables) and reporting to the Head of Finance and Administration. About you:
We’re looking for someone with substantial experience using finance software packages, strong skills in sales and nominal ledger management, and a solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping. You’ll need excellent Excel and numeracy skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines. Ideally, you’ll be AAT qualified or part-qualified, with experience using Sage 200 or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and familiarity with EPOS systems, charity VAT, and foreign currency transactions. A flexible, organised, and conscientious approach is essential, along with a genuine interest in the work and values of World Horse Welfare.
Location:
The role is based in Norfolk and is currently a hybrid split of 2 days in our head office in Snetterton and 3 days at home. You may be required to attend events around the UK so the ability to travel occasionally is necessary.

Camp Jojo is a small/medium, but growing charity with a committed team of Trustees, Special Advisors, and Volunteers. The Contractor will handle clerical and logistics tasks for the organisation in a timely and efficient way. The primary task of the Nags Head Farm: Operations Manager will be to oversee family applications to the camps, and to maintain and develop data bases in support of this. They will hold a key role in relation to communications with the families pre-, during, and post-camps. In addition, they will attend and minute meetings, and contribute to camp operations in planning etc. They may need to work flexibly, according to the seasonal demands of the charity.
They will attend the first day (Friday) of each camp The Nags Head Farm: Operations Manager will have a varied and sometimes high-pace job environment. Camp Jojo is currently in transition. Over the first 8 years it has worked from one established site in Mersea, Essex; but we are now opening a second site (Nag’s Head Farm) near Appleby in Cumbria. The role of Volunteer Manager (Nags Head Farm) is to provide the management and administration of the key Volunteer sector of Camp Jojo, and to offer administrative support and feedback to members of the Camp Jojo Board in this regard.
The Volunteer Manager will be responsible for successful initial contact, recruitment, communication with and administration of volunteer for the Nag’s Head Farm camps, through to their successful placement at camp. They will also work closely with the Operations Manager: Families and Site Ops. (Nags Head Farm). They will be guided in their role with the existing managers at Ivy Farm, Mersea, Essex.
The primary task of the Volunteer Manager (Nag’s Head Farm) will be to oversee the whole process of Volunteer applications to camps at Nag’s Head Farm, and to maintain and develop databases in support of this. In addition, they will attend and minute meetings which concern volunteer management, etc.
They may need to work flexibly; the demands will be seasonal, with many more hours needed through spring and summer than autumn and winter. Key Responsibilities for the role are:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the overall strategy for gaming aligned with the overarching Make-A-Wish UK organisational goals and market trends.
- Monitor and identify growth opportunities within the gaming sector that are unique to Make-A-Wish UK, including (but not limited to) development of strategic partnerships, product diversification to drive sustainable income growth, and market expansion to position Make-A-Wish as the go-to charity for the gaming sector.
- Collaborate with the extended leadership team to execute the gaming strategy and ensuring the journey and development priorities align with our overall Income & Engagement goals and growth targets.
- Establish Objectives, shared KPIs and other performance metrics that drive alignment with common priorities and focus across teams to deliver on growth targets.
- Attend appropriate industry events and conferences to cement Make-A-Wish UK as contender within the UK videogame sector.
- Lead stakeholder management of high-value and high-profile gaming contacts, including senior Make-A-Wish advisors within the gaming industry
Team Management:
- Lead and motivate the Gaming and Influencer Officer by providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development.
- Promote a creative and collaborative work environment to drive innovative partnerships, creativity and innovation.
Gaming Group Wish
- Oversee the entire gaming group wish development lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring the project is delivered on time and within budget.
- Scale the group wish within the sector and develop commercial opportunities that resonates with the gaming audience.
- Leverage storytelling to engage with gaming influencers within the gaming community
Partnership Development:
- Establish and nurture relationships with external partners, including publishers, hardware manufacturers, distributors, and platform holders.
- Identify, negotiate, and maintain relationships with gaming influencers and content creators.
- Collaborate with Brand and Corporate Partnerships to ensure the content and pitch is engaging for partnerships, campaigns and promotions.
Campaign Execution:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and analysis of gaming-related marketing campaigns.
- Ensure that campaigns align with the company's objectives and target audience.
Performance Analysis:
- Monitor campaign performance metrics and provide insightful reports to stakeholders.
- Adjust strategies based on performance data to improve engagement and ROI.
- Continuously analyse, refine, and optimise workflows, tools, and processes across gaming to increase lead time to value, reduce blocks, improve resource allocation and enhance productivity.
- Proactively identify and monitor risks that could impact product development timelines, from technical challenges to resource gaps, and proactively develop mitigation strategies
Income generation:
- Identify and prioritise opportunities for the growth of income, gift in kind and networks in areas of Gaming for Make-A-Wish. This includes collaborating with the corporate partnerships team and relevant internal teams for new Gaming partners and sponsors for MAW.
Budget Management:
- Manage the budget for gaming and influencer marketing initiatives, ensuring optimal allocation of resources in line with operational needs.
- Ensure cost-efficiency and return on investment for game projects.
Wishgranting:
- Support connections to help grant wishes for children with gaming-related wishes by establishing relationships with industry partners, networks and individuals who can help.

Details:
Salary: £33,500 per annum.
Location: The post holder will be contractually based at Hospice House, Britannia Street, London, WC1X 9JG. This role is eligible for the Hospice UK Hybrid Working Arrangement from the start of employment. Our expectation is that you will come to London at least two days each month for team meetings, plus a quarterly ‘all staff’ event, and External Affairs away days a few times a year. The Communications team mostly comes into the office at least once a week on a Wednesday. You can work remotely for the rest of the time. Equally, you may prefer to work from the office full-time.

As our Membership Communications Officer, you’ll play a vital role in engaging with the people who work in Hospice UK’s 210 member organisations, as well as other key audiences. Your mission will be to deliver clear, engaging and impactful communications that promote awareness of Hospice UK’s work and the wider hospice sector. You will work with powerful personal stories of hospice care, translating deeply moving human stories of grief and compassion into engaging and sensitive content.
Working closely with colleagues in the Membership Engagement and Communications & Campaigns teams, you’ll:
- Create and deliver compelling content across web, email and social media channels.
- Source and produce stories that showcase the incredible work of our members.
- Plan, research and build web pages, and manage social media activity.
- Analyse engagement data to provide insights and continuously improve our communications.
A key part of this role will involve building strong relationships with members through regular communications, meetings and hospice visits, helping you understand their needs and the challenges facing the sector.
About you
Are you a creative communicator who loves making content shine? You’ll have excellent copywriting skills and be able to craft clear, engaging messages for different audiences and channels. Confident in managing social media, you’ll know how to use analytics to track and improve performance. Highly organised, you can deliver communications to large, diverse audiences while working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to create great content.
It’s a bonus if you’re familiar with tools like Canva, Hootsuite or Mailchimp, have experience using analytics tools for social media and websites, or have knowledge of membership organisations.

About the Role
The Head of Finance will support the Director of Finance and Resources in providing strategic financial leadership across the charity.
