We are a community-based charity with 30 years’ experience of supporting local families with children under the age of 5. Working closely with colleagues from across the organisation and our contacts within the community, the successful applicant will support the external communications of the charity, helping to extend the reach of the charity. Raising awareness, developing donor and supporter relationships, working with the Directors to identify and develop funding streams.
The role:
As a Community Engagement and Fundraising Officer, you will play a vital role in helping our charity manage and develop relationships with our donors, supporters and our existing key relationships, whilst identifying and creating new relationships in our local areas to garner support and promote our services.
- You will be responsible for delivering activity to maximise fundraising from our community, including schools, individuals, local businesses and community groups. You will proactively recruit, grow and nurture supporters, empowering them to manage their own fundraising activities.
- You will manage our annual challenge event programme from supporter engagement, assisting fundraisers journey and utilising tools to maximise supporter’s impact.
- Crucial to your role will be building strong and lasting relationships with supporters, colleagues and volunteers, positively engaging with members of the public and maximising all fundraising opportunities.
What you’ll do:Principle duties and responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the delivery of effective Community Engagement and Fundraising.
- Actively promote all aspects of Home-Start Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere to local businesses, schools, community organisations, volunteer groups, and individuals.
- Motivate and influence supporters to independently manage their own fundraising activities, with your support, being the main contact for supporters.
- Work closely the Business Support Officer to manage and create social media content to promote fundraising activities, relationships with supporters and the relationships you build in the community.
- Prepare and deliver individualised communications, presentations and assemblies for a diverse range of audiences.
- Attend and run activities at a variety of community events when required, to ensure a strong presence from Home-Start Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere in the communities where we support.
- Identify and implement new fundraising opportunities and initiatives.
- Work closely with the other Community engagement and fundraisers, building on local knowledge, sharing best practice and creating a peer circle of support, including peers from HSUK our parent company.
- Act as an advocate within the community. Uphold our values, and communicate with enthusiasm, credibility, conviction and knowledge.
- This role will require occasional weekend and evening working.
- Keep up to date with all fundraising legal implications.
- You will be responsible for creating our quarterly newsletter, working with the rest of the team, to engage with our supporters.
- Create Bi-monthly board reports on the growth of community engagement, communications and fundraising, which will go directly to the trustee board. Occasional attendance at board, building a relationship with a trustee identified to manage fundraising.
- Annually, you will lead on the creation of the annual report and social impact reporting working across the team.
- Creating strong relationships with local magazines and identifying and managing news tools to ensure that we are sharing our successes and informing our audiences of our services. Occasionally creating press releases for campaigns and building a network of people to help share our news as far and wide as possible.
- You will also be involved in the updating of our website, working with the Business Support Officer and volunteers to ensure our website remains the best tool to advertise what we do.
- Creating and nurturing a small group of fundraising support volunteers to help facilitate events and share our story in the community.
What you’ll bring:Experience
- Preferable, fundraising experience of 1 year, in a community engagement or fundraising role in the charity sector.
- Demonstrable experience in building relationships within the community and with fundraisers.
- Demonstrable experience in managing your own income budget and monitoring expenditure against agreed targets. Analysis of income data, identifying trends, evaluating activity and ROI, and ensuring key learnings and insight are fed into planning and budgeting of future activity as appropriate.
- Demonstrated success in coordinating events, campaigns and initiatives.
- Familiarity with donor databases, CRM systems, and fundraising software.
- Able to provide direction, energy and capability to lead fundraising volunteers at community events.
- Understanding of fundraising principles, best practices, and ethical standards.
- Knowledge of Community Engagement and different fundraising channels.
- Awareness of current trends and innovations in fundraising.

The role
The Corporate and Individual Giving Manager is responsible for generating sustainable income by identifying, engaging with, and securing funding through individuals and corporate donor relationships.
Establishing sustainable fundraising streams is a top priority for the centre. This role will play a crucial part in strengthening our strategy for Individual and Corporate Giving, with a keen focus on continuous growth. Key responsibilities include identifying and cultivating a pipeline of prospective donor relationships, as well as creating compelling corporate fundraising campaigns and providing personalised stewardship to both attract new supporters and nurture existing relationship.
This role will sit within the wider Income and Generation Team. The Role
The fundraising team at Kidney Care UK have been incredibly successful from only being established 8 years ago, with the last 2.5 years being exponential in growth, they now have ambitious plans to treble their income in three years to sustain the growth and to continue to support kidney patients who need help and support.
This role will oversee and develop the charity's community fundraising and trade revenues, with a target of £266,000 for 2024. While fostering significant engagement with community supporters and fundraisers, you will lead a dedicated team of two within the Community and Trade team. Community fundraising
* Design and implement a stewardship programme that converts interest into support and maximises fundraised income whilst developing lasting relationships.

In this exciting role you will be responsible for implementing the charity’s Individual Giving, Legacy and In Memory fundraising programmes (target of £1.3m in 2024).

The ideal candidate will have fundraising experience covering several areas including Individual Giving; Fundraising Appeals/Campaigns as well as experience in managing the operational aspects of fundraising (database, compliance with codes of practice and fundraising regulations, creating fundraising campaigns and ‘asks’). MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fundraising Overview
- Develop, deliver, and monitor a fundraising strategy for The Cinnamon Trust.
- Maximise the contributions and connections with local business and individuals.
- Coordinate all appeals including The Big Walk across all income and media streams.
- Research and utilise new fundraising streams and opportunities such as Payroll Giving, Legacies (with help from The Legacy Officer), in Memory Giving and Online Giving.
Supporter Engagement and Stewardship
- Establish systems, procedures, proactive stewardship, and an engagement programme to provide the highest levels of service to The Trust’s supporters.
- To be responsible for thanking all supporters and managing a supporter engagement journey – ensuring that effective processes are in place and driving levels of satisfaction and loyalty.
- Act as the ‘first point of call’ for all fundraising volunteers and maintaining excellent communication with supporters throughout these processes, in conjunction with other teams.
- Develop and implement Fundraising groups across the UK
Database Management
- To ensure efficient, appropriate data capture and analysis for the purpose of effective stewardship, fundraising and communications.
- Maintain data management standards, assisting with the implementation of processes and policies ensuring best practice is followed.
- Train other staff members to support general fundraising.
- Ensure all records, fundraising data and fundraising administration is kept up to date and all information is GDPR-compliant.
- Reconcile fundraising income with the Finance Manager, including Gift Aid claims, missed, failed payments and Direct Debit cancellations.
Individual Giving
- Develop an Individual Giving and Acquisition strategy that drives growth for individual giving across multi-channel campaigns and initiatives.
- Lead the growth of CT100 monthly giving.
- Work with the Press and PR Manager on fundraising communication and to ensure donors are kept up to date on the difference their support makes.
Fundraising Appeals and Campaigns
- Work alongside teams and PR and Communications Manager to promote The Cinnamon Trust.
- Establish a corporate fundraising strategy with an accompanying narrative, alongside the PR and Communications Manager.
- Tailor campaigns and appeals for different audiences and supporters alongside PR and Communications Manager to target corporates; smaller local businesses and individuals
Staff and Volunteers
- Support with recruiting fundraising volunteers as appropriate.
- Work closely with Head of Operations and PR and Communications Manager to ensure all fundraising is coordinated.
Wider organisational responsibilities
- Read and adhere to all policies and procedures.
- Lead on applications to charitable trusts or statutory bodies with support from the Head of Operations.
- Undertake responsibilities associated with being a member of The Cinnamon Trust

The role will encompass community and youth support activities, delivering quality, diverse and integrated services, as well as leading a small and passionate team. The role will be focussed on the Oldham East community (surrounding Oasis Academies Clarksfield and Leesbrook), working together as part of Oasis Hub Oldham.
Key responsibilities will be:
· To build positive and supportive working partnerships with the local community, supporting them to access Hub services and activities to develop their skills, knowledge and aspirations.
· To work with the Strategic Community Development Lead to create a plan to deliver joined up services that address the needs of the local neighbourhood, including community projects, holiday provision, and volunteer, family and youth support.
· Provide leadership and line management to community and youth project workers, building a positive and well-functioning team that models the Oasis ethos and values.
· Lead on all aspects of the day-to-day administration and supervision of a team of volunteers and their activities, developing and inspiring them to develop best possible practice to meet the needs of the local Hub deploying volunteers’ strengths and acting as an authentic role model.
