Introduction to the Board Development programme

What we offer and what we ask of you

As an associate, you will be involved in the delivery of aspects of the Board Development programme including our aspiring directors programme and effective challenge module. You will work with, and collaborate with, a group of talented fellow associates with a varied range of skills and capabilities, as well as board experience, NHS experience, coaching, mentoring and facilitation skills. Your responsibilities will include delivering dynamic training sessions using pre-prepared materials; delivery could be online or face to face. On occasion you will also be required to utilise your skills and experience to support the development and maintenance of new and existing training session materials. This role requires a passionate individual with a strong background in HR and OD and a proven track record of facilitating engaging and impactful training sessions.

We will support you by offering you commissioned pieces of work on a daily rate, either to help scope and deliver bespoke board development work with NHS trusts and other system partners, or to help us deliver our open courses, where we will be proactive in confirming the agenda and briefing you on content. We ask all of our associates to sign an associate contract which means we can approach you with offers of work over the course of the year. We will ensure you have sufficient information about the trusts, and other clients, that you will be working with. When appropriate, we will provide you with training opportunities to support your facilitation of training sessions.

Description of the associate role

We are looking for HR and OD specialists to join our associate pool. We are looking for individuals with a mixture of experience including:

• Significant experience of working at board level.
• Board level HR and organisational development experience.
• Relevant coaching qualification(s).
• Ability to translate theory into practical insights.
• Proactive approach to building and maintaining effective client relationships, including excellent levels of communication.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Adaptability and flexibility in delivery training in various formats.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to a non-technical audience.

Desirable experience and skills include:

• Current or previous NHS board member.
• Significant facilitation experience, including Insights/MBTI personality profiling.
• Interest in sharing knowledge, training and development.
• Proficiency in using virtual training platforms and tools.
• Ability to use technology adeptly to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.
• Ability to travel across the UK for in-person training sessions as required.

We now have the opportunity to provide a service at HMP Chelmsford. Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our prison-based reading and numeracy programme, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.
 
Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach.
 
This role will be prison based. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to provide high quality evidence-based speech and language therapy, which promotes the participation, function and safe care of children and young people accessing The Children’s Trust.

Your aim is to deliver child and family focused goal led interventions supporting those with speech, language and communication needs and to those with dysphagia needs.
To support the service for those children and young people with tracheostomies, within the limits of skills and competencies.

You will also support our Multidisciplinary Team, delivering training

Role Requirements

• Support the provision of high quality, evidence informed speech and language therapy assessments and interventions for children and young people attending The Children’s Trust, in partnership with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Devise suitable, individual, plans that fit within the child’s daily routine, whether to be carried out by therapists, parents or members of the Multidisciplinary team; these should be monitored, evaluated and adjusted appropriately according to the needs of the child.
• Facilitate involvement of family and carers in the rehabilitation process, including day-to-day activities, and the handing over of practical skills and care.
• Be an autonomous practitioner with responsibility for assessment, treatment and planning for an allocated caseload of children/young people.
• Work closely with all members of the Multidisciplinary team, as well as the child and family, to provide a fully integrated approach to the overall management of the child. This will include any home/school visits, professional child related meetings and / or appointments, as required.
• Liaise with all appropriate medical staff, whether employed by The Children’s Trust, visiting consultants or at off-site clinics, and attend clinics with the child as required.
• Contribute to the assessment and discussion of new referrals to The Children’s Trust, carrying out on virtual and off-site referral assessments around the United Kingdom, as required.
• Contribute to child related reports, including looked after children and annual review reports as required, and assist with the collation of these as and when required, in a timely manner and in line with organisational targets.
• Utilise patient reported and standardised outcome measures for each allocated child/young person and complete in a timely manner.
• Assess, evaluate, and recommend discharge/transition plans for children/young people within the multidisciplinary team framework.
• Provide clinical cover across the service during episodes of staff shortage/heavy workload, in order to ensure effective service delivery.
• Work flexibly in terms of hours, in order to meet the needs of the service, including an early evening (maximum one per week) and weekend day (maximum one per month).
• Represent the Therapy Team and The Children’s Trust when appropriate, deputising for the Head of Therapy - Rehabilitation, as required.
• Actively participate in and support the running of relevant meetings.
• To undertake other or additional duties that are within your skills and abilities, as the organisation may reasonably require from time to time.

About the Role

As a Caseworker, you will provide structured, tailored support plans based on holistic assessments for individuals affected by crime. You will make initial contact with victims via the telephone, then tailor the support to the Victims preferences i.e. home visits or via conference calls, to explain our services, and assess the impact of crime. Your responsibilities will include developing, delivering, and monitoring safety and support plans, providing resources, interventions, and information to service users.

As a Caseworker you will:

• Manage a caseload of self-referred & referred service users, providing information & advocacy to help them navigate the criminal justice process.
• Conduct risk & needs assessments, ensuring each victim receives tailored support & information.
• Identify barriers to accessing services & work with partners to provide ongoing support.
• Keep accurate & confidential case records.

About You

You will have an understanding of the impact of crime on victims & experience in delivering services within a statutory, voluntary, or multi-agency setting. Experience in managing a caseload and of completing risk & needs assessments would be beneficial.

You will need:

• Strong written & verbal communication skills.
• Competent IT skills, able to use generic systems.
• Good organisational & time management skills, able to manage competing needs and priorities.
• To work effectively both as part of a team & independently
• To develop & maintain partnerships with internal & external organisations.
• The ability to maintain professional boundaries & confidentiality.

Do you want to make a tangible difference in the lives of some of the most deprived children in London? 

CARIS Families is a small frontline charity that offers holistic support to families experiencing homelessness in hostels in the London Boroughs of Camden and Hackney.  Amongst our other services, we run play and learning activities for children aged 0-16 from within 4 hostels in these boroughs, as well as a school holiday day trip programme.  Our services for children aim to reduce the stress on children and parents of living in overcrowded, insecure accommodation, and to put back essential childhood experiences that homeless accommodation deprives children of.

The services we currently offer our families in hostels are:

- Kids Club: an after-school play club in term time for 0-16s, run from our dedicated play club in the basement of one family hostel in Camden.

- Enrichment Trips and Summer Programme: a series of day trips for groups of families from our 4 hostels in the school holidays.  We take part in exciting activities and visit interesting destinations round London and the South-East, to ease the pressures of being stuck in the hostel during the long school breaks.

- Essentials Bank: Our Essentials bank runs weekly in term-time from two of our hostels, offering families free hygiene products such as toiletries, nappies, washing powder etc. to ease the pressure on family finances at a difficult time.

- Family Support Work and Housing Casework: we offer holistic casework to support families to ease the stress of their situation, from working on finances to supporting employment searches, to assisting with legal cases and supporting them to navigate their housing case and move out of homelessness as soon as possible.

We are currently looking for an experienced Play and Community Worker to join our dedicated frontline Family Services team, delivering this vital support to around 100 children and their families each year.

Responsibilities of the Role

The Play and Community Worker will:

- Deliver play and learning activities for children aged 0-16 at our hostel-based Kids Club’s play sessions during term time in the London Borough of Camden.

- Deliver our Enrichment Trips School Holiday programme during school holidays (in Camden, Hackney and the wider London and South-East England area)

- Deliver our term-time Essentials Bank programme, providing free household goods to families in hostels

- Assist the Services Manager with a range of administrative and operational activities to support the day-to-day running of our Family Services and CARIS Families’ operations as a whole

- Provide a warm and welcoming experience for children and their families attending CARIS Families’ services

- Engage enthusiastically and supportively with children in their play and learning experiences, through staff-led activities and facilitating child-led play

- Work proactively as part of our Family Services team, supporting colleagues, embracing change and contributing ideas to service development within our frontline Family Services.

Person Specification

We are looking for a Play and Community Worker who is:

- Qualified to Level 2 or 3, or prepared to work towards this qualification in: Playwork, Early Years, CYP Workforce, Youth Work or any related area

- Experienced in delivering play within a CYP or community work setting, and working with 0- to 16-year-olds

- Experienced in providing and facilitating safe and creative play experiences

- Passionate about improving opportunities for disadvantaged children

-  Understanding of the varied needs of children and their families, and of the impact of trauma and ACE on children’s development and wellbeing

- Able to maintain professional boundaries while supporting parents/carers and children empathetically, and with a person-centred, relational approach.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with the Senior Advisor to steward donor relationship including Members of UK for UNHCR’s Advisory Board and principal gift prospects and donors. This will include: 

• Supporting cultivation and stewardship. Involves working on account plans, preparing meeting briefings, writing of high-quality concept notes, proposals, reports, and other fundraising products.   
• Supporting external Advisory Board members to develop and execute opportunities to raise the profile of UNHCR’s work. This may include researching, identifying and initiating new initiatives.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced videographer and photographer, with strong technical skills, to join our small but ambitious creative team. You’ll have a good understanding of how to capture stories and share voices in a creative and powerful way, while being able to take projects from concept to completion.

You’ll be motivated, driven and passionate about capturing the voices of children and young people with cancer and the work that we do at Young Lives vs Cancer. No two days will look the same, from photographing a fundraising event to capturing an interview with a family at one of our Homes from Home. We’re looking for someone who can make the most of any opportunity to gather content which could be used across social media, our website, in presentations and pitches or in printed materials.

The role-holder will also take responsibility for keeping our content library up to date and gathering and recording consent as they go. We need someone who is highly organised and able to manage their own time and diary – this is a varied and busy role which will work with many teams across the organisation.

What will I be doing?
