You will play a critical role in supporting colleagues across the organisation to understand the financial position of the charity and its activities, providing financial insights and act as a critical friend in assessing opportunities and challenges.

• The ideal candidate will need to collaborate and communicate effectively to help us deliver our mission and vision. You will be used to working effectively with non-finance stakeholders and varying your communication style to suit the audience you’re addressing.
• Have financial qualifications (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) (can be part-qualified).
• Excellent organisational, and time management skills, including the ability to work to deadlines and reprioritise tasks when necessary.

Scope of role

The Head of Programme & Organisational Development is also one of two Co-Leads of On Purpose London. As such, they are jointly responsible for the London Associate Programme in partnership with the Co-Lead of On Purpose London who focuses on  Business Development & Community. We find this co-leadership model offers a useful balance of mutual support and challenge, role-modelling how we believe leadership should operate.

You would be part of our cross-organisational leadership team of six city leads and the CEO. This group is a source of valuable peer support and a forum in which to collaborate, coordinate and learn together, through which you will contribute to strategy and organisational development and lead and support specific cross-city improvement initiatives.

Whilst this role focuses on the On Purpose London programme delivery and organisational development, it is a collaborative role with shared responsibility for all of the London team and operations. 

This role has the following primary responsibilities, which can be reviewed and shaped around the strengths of the successful candidate: 

• Motivate and empower the London team and foster a healthy team culture - Set vision and strategy for On Purpose London alongside the co-lead and in collaboration with the International CEO and other Cities. Work together to shape a strong team culture which supports self development, collaboration, appreciation and trust. Work with the international team, the co-leads of other Cities and the board to share and develop best practice and the organisation’s direction.

• Ensure the health and sustainability of an impactful London Associate Programme - Work together with other City Leads and the international team to monitor, measure and improve the programme’s financial sustainability and impact, with a focus on overseeing London’s finances.

• Improve ways of working to enable the team to embrace change and innovation - Develop and implement processes, practices, systems, and techniques to help strengthen performance and streamline operations. Foster a team culture which values flexibility, continuous learning, and openness to new ideas. 

• Support the development of Associates into impactful systems change leaders - Responsible for the overall quality of the Associate journey, envisioning and improving the Associate experience, and managing key moments including matching, induction and residential. Support Programme Delivery Manager in designing, planning and facilitating the training syllabus.

• Build engagement with our wider ecosystem of trainers, mentors & coaches - Ensure the recruitment, onboarding, matching and ongoing management of coaches and mentors throughout the year to support Associates’ growth and development.

• Lead the recruitment of high-calibre Associates from a diverse range of backgrounds - Oversee a rigorous assessment and selection process including scoring applications, training interviewers, interviewing candidates and managing the pipeline of potential candidates before and after offers.

​​Senior Programme Manager - International Partnerships

​This newly established role will help deliver a new WFD workplan on International Partnerships.

​WFD’s strategic 2.1 goal focuses on consolidating a summit process to follow up the three Summits for Democracy that were initiated by the US administration. Funding for this work is confirmed for the 2024/25 financial year but, with a strong possibility this role, could continue.

​The Senior Programme Manager - International Partnerships will be the dedicated person assigned to this workplan and will therefore play a vital coordinating role. The CEO will be the accountable officer and will line manager the Senior Programme Manager - International Partnerships.

​The Senior Programme Manager - International Partnerships will have lead responsibility for managing various relationships and activities. A range of key relationships, which will vary in line with the key activities, inside WFD, with the FCDO sponsor team, and with some of the other partners in relevant international organisations. The central activity is the Democracy Action Partnership to be held in the margins of the Bali Democracy Forum in December 2024.

The Microsoft Azure Engineer is part of the Infrastructure Services team. The role is to support the development, implementation and maintenance of the IT infrastructure and all information systems. Blackpool Crisis Support - Sycamore House is a community-based crisis service, working to a recovery model with the aim to reduce the amount of A&E and Hospital admissions through evidence-based CBT interventions. We provide a range of intervention support and are partnered with the NHS, working alongside the Home Treatment Team who offer clinical governance. Additionally, we offer a range of services for people with mental ill health to become more connected to their local community, building on their social engagement. We also signpost to local services and host awareness days that are truly reflective of the community we support to break down stigma and discrimination offering support 24/7 with a staffed service to our residents aged 18 and upwards.

We know that recovery can look and feel very different to each and every one of us. But we also know that if we provide the right support, at the right time, we can inspire recovery nationwide and that recovery is possible for everyone. That’s where you come in. Responsible for helping and inspiring the people who use our services to maintain their tenancy and independence in the community, we’ll rely on you to work with them to come up with a personal support plan that will see them achieve their goals and aspirations. No relevant experience is required as full training will be provided, although candidates with an understanding of mental health issues and/or lived experience would be welcomed. Our charity is going through an exciting period of positive change and we are looking for a Financial Controller to lead our Central Finance team based in the West Midlands area!

The role of Financial Controller is mainly remote however you will be expected to travel to the Central Finance Office in Stourbridge to meet with your team and other relevant locations on occasion.

We’re hoping to hear from those that can provide financial leadership and effective management of the Trusts financial operations including AR, AP, Treasury and Payroll and Fixed Assets, that can ensure the delivery of a proactive and professional customer focused service, ensuring finance deadlines, and legislative and statutory requirements are met.

You’ll work closely with the wider organization, building strong internal relationships to ensure the effective management of financial resources.

Main responsibilities:

oOversee the month end process, working closely with all finance staff.

oWorking closely with the Head of Finance and Finance Business Partners with the preparation and consolidation of the monthly management accounts.

oSupport the Head of Finance and Finance Business Partners during the annual budget cycle and ensure all budgets are agreed and implemented on the accounting system.

oManage the external audit and the year-end processes and complete statutory financial statements to draft stage in accordance with the Charities SORP including all working papers.

oEnsure efficient and effective financial control operates throughout the Trust, ensuring all regional and central financial activities comply with legislation, policies, procedures and the delegated authorities.

oActively oversee the management of the Trust payroll function (including pensions) ensuring compliance with legislation and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of employee pay and third-party payments.

oManage and administer the Trust bank accounts, credit cards, and cash flow.

oProject Management.

Who we are looking for

oProfessional Accounting qualification ACCA, CIMA, ACA, ICAEW or Part Qualified (Final year) or equivalent degree OR In-depth QBE with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar senior finance role within the charity sector.

oExperience of people management within the finance functions.

oKnowledge of payroll practice and a full understanding of HMRC requirements.

oExperience of preparing statutory accounts and working papers and proven success working with auditors and managing the audit process.

oAble to demonstrate a proven track record in all aspects of accounts e.g preparation management accounts, budgets, balance sheet reconciliation and forecasts.

oExperience of Treasury management including cashflow forecasting & monitoring.

oExperience of preparing VAT returns.

oAdvanced User of different accounting packages.

oConfident User of MS Office 365, in particular Excel (intermediate/advanced level), Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.

oExperience of managing finance projects (e.g. new systems)

oKnowledge & understanding of internal controls & accounting processes.

oPrevious experience in an accounting role in the Charity or Housing or Care Sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.

oUnderstanding of the Charity SORP.
