Our Welfare Officers provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family. As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.

Our intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.

Our service is transitioning to become more accessible and inclusive, digital technology plays a key role in this, as such you will use digital technologies to complement and enhance processes and service user experience.

You will play an active role within the community, promoting the service through the delivery of presentations and representing the service at public engagement events. You will also work closely with RAF welfare teams, local authorities, health, education, civilian agencies, charities and other military organisations to ensure the best outcome for the service user.

About you

To thrive in this role you will have relevant experience of supporting adults, families and children/young people. You will be able to take a flexible and creative approach to problem solving. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to deliver presentations with confidence.

You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

It would be advantageous if you have experience of carrying out assessments, preparing plans, monitoring and reviewing outcomes.

There will be some travel required and therefore you will need to be able to drive and have access to your own car.

As a Health Advocate, you will organise our women’s group sessions, a space for women to connect and learn more about their health. About the role:

The Young Women’s Keyworker will work with young women aged 15-24 to provide specialist 1:1 support to those referred into the service. The service is designed to be a “whole system” response to women and girls in the Criminal Justice System, so a key part of the role will include building relationships with statutory and VCS agencies, to support and encourage more young women to access the Minerva service, as well as setting up specialist referral pathways for young women in the community. 

About You:

To be successful as the Young Women’s Keyworker you will:

Bring an in-depth knowledge of issues facing women offenders and those at risk of offending; both in and out of the Criminal Justice System. Have a strong understanding of the context and challenges facing vulnerable young women and girls, including the impacts of domestic violence, mental health, and sexual health.

Bring a significant experience of working with young women experiencing issues related to offending and experience of community engagement, advocacy and support work with young people and have proven practical experience of using motivational interviewing and coaching techniques with young women and girls, using a woman-centred approach to build trust and rapport.  You will demonstrate the ability to work in partnership with relevant statutory and voluntary groups, developing and maintaining strong constructive working relationships.

About this key role

Our successful candidate will provide a comprehensive and holistic assessment, advice, referral and support service to young victims of violence, exploring innovative and effective ways of supporting them which will reduce their risk of re-victimisation.  You will deliver an outreach service that includes advising and advocating on behalf of the young person and their family, providing practical support that will include setting up access to and helping each individual, following their discharge from hospital back into the community, to engage with specialist support services. In turn, helping them to navigate the impact that follows post peer on peer violence.  This will include providing vital help with mental health and wellbeing, housing and social support, ETE, substance misuse, finance, benefits and debt.

You will also be expected to assess young victims of violence with reference to St Giles’ assessment practices and to produce support and risk management plans based on these assessments, promoting inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process, while developing and maintaining effective relationships with partner agencies is also an essential element of the role.

• Personal experience of the criminal justice system, lived experience of the issues facing this client group and/or experience of working with ‘high risk’, vulnerable children, young people and/or families

• Substantial experience of engaging successfully with ‘challenging’ young people and of assessing the needs of children and young people who are at risk of significant harm

• Experience of using support plans, to enable people to successfully access support services

• Proven experience of working in a high intensity environment and to manage effectively your own wellbeing

• A working knowledge of relevant services for young people and their families in the service provision area

• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written

• A flexible, collaborative and professional approach to your work.

About the role:  We are seeking to recruit a Counselling Services Coordinator to provide administrative support to our Counselling Services Manager and assist in the smooth running of our counselling programme. You will deal with referrals and carry out clinical counselling assessments in person and online to ensure that BCWA is the correct counselling service for the client.  You will liaise with our trainee counsellors and allocate clients to the counsellors based on suitability. You will manage our counselling waiting lists and ensure clients are kept informed.  You will ensure confidentiality and data security is maintained in relation to service user’s details, case records and supervision notes. Ideally you will have or be working towards a counselling qualification and/or have experience of providing trauma-informed support.

The Junction is an out of hours “calming café” service which is open 365 days of the year to support people experiencing pre and/or mental health crisis. The aim of the project is to alleviate the need for people within the Swindon locality to access A&E and/or acute mental health services.

As a Wellbeing Practitioner, you will be providing a preventative, person centred approach to people accessing the service who may be experiencing a mental health crisis.

The service is open from 4PM-11PM and there are positions available for part time hours and full time hours and  working patterns will include some weekends.

• Work with partner organisations to establish hearing voices peer support groups, in addition to facilitating groups.
• Deliver training sessions and workshops on the hearing voices approach and related topics.
• Offer support to a range of people who hear voices (young people and their families, those in prison, forensic units or Immigration Removal Centres) in a variety of ways (email, zoom, phone, face to face).

Social Prescribing Advice Link Worker

Our client is working with the Primary Care Network (PCN), Bromley by Bow Health & Stepney Health CIC, to improve access to social welfare advice and help meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable patients and families locally.

The role will provide social welfare advice to people referred into the Centre’s Social Prescribing service. The role will focus on what matters to the individual and take a holistic approach, providing welfare benefits, housing, debt, food and energy advice.

The Social Prescribing Advice Link Worker will refer to agencies at a specialist level including immigration, legal advice and debt as well as support individuals to access a range of services and activities in their local communities.

The role will build collaborative relationships with GP practice staff, including the delivery of social welfare advice training to enable them to identify and connect people experiencing hardship with the support they need to improve their circumstances and prevent problems developing into issues of hardship and crisis.

The role will help shape the Centre’s Social Prescribing service so that it reflects the changing environment and helps reduce health inequalities locally.

Over the last five years, we have grown steadily, with our research and intelligence work exposing and undermining the far right, even foiling a murder plot, our community engagement providing expertise to vulnerable communities and our work in schools growing to teach young people to recognise and challenge prejudice and hate.

About the role
The Community Outreach Officer will deliver on helping the communities susceptible to the far right. As part of the policy team, they will have access to research and policy insights on the issues which are causing tension and divisions in communities and where these tensions are most acute, and use this to devise locally-led solutions in partnership with key figures in the community and relevant sectors.

They will have experience in community organising, whether through employment or voluntary work, and use this experience to develop an organisational strategy for addressing far-right organising and hate-based community tensions. Part of the strategy will include a plan to extend and deepen HOPE not hate’s existing relationships in key areas across the UK. It will also involve designing and publicising resources, developing and delivering training and writing regular briefings. 

Willingness to work with a variety of stakeholders is important. The role will include liaising with local authorities, national and local organisations and grassroots community activists to build and facilitate the design of locally-led community resilience strategies. There will also be access to our existing networks and relationships across relevant sectors e.g. migration and refugee sector, community cohesion and local authorities. An understanding that communities and community groups are the experts on their own needs is crucial – solutions should be developed with, not for, those most impacted.

Key responsibilities

• Working with the research team to distribute and explain information on local risks. 

• Working with relevant stakeholders to share solutions and best practice, including through meetings and events.

• Developing resources and guides to support stakeholders to build more resilient communities.

• Developing and delivering training to support key stakeholders in responding to rising tensions and responding to hate.

• Using data and polling to target areas and solutions locally.

• Travelling to meet key stakeholders in communities affected.

General Responsibilities

• Participate in events and activities to showcase the work of HOPE not hate

• Attend agreed supervision and review meetings with your line manager.

• Contribute creatively to the future development of HOPE not hate.

• Identify and undertake other duties as appropriate to this role.

Skills requirements:

• One or more year’s experience in community engagement.

• Experience of delivering training, or confidence in public speaking.

• Experience of working alongside partners to develop work. 

• Ability to work independently. 

• Highly organised and able to structure and manage workload.

• Strong communicator with ability to discuss sensitive and emotive issues in tense environments.
