About the Youth Endowment Fund 

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice. 

In recent years violent crime has risen significantly. Homicides, assaults, robberies and offences involving weapons have all seen sustained growth. We have also seen large increases in violent crime involving children and young people. This is a tragedy. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. 

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by funding great initiatives, finding what works and working for change – scaling up and spreading the practices that make a difference.

This role and why it’s important 

It's critical to our mission that we understand how and why young people become involved in violence. The YEF’s work combines conducting rigorous evaluations and research studies with hearing directly from young people. It is also important to us that young people are central to the messages we share externally.

Your role involves ensuring that young people’s perspectives are heard and integrated into our work. This includes supporting our Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and helping young people’s voices play a central part in YEFs external communications.

This role also supports the wider team managing grants, contracts and providing general team support.

Click to learn more about the Youth Advisory Board (YAB). Many have lived experience of violence and advise us across all areas of our work to ensure that young people’s perspectives are taken on board as we pursue our mission. YAB members contribute to the governance of the organisation. 

Key responsibilities: 

1. Youth Advisory Board support: 

• Plan engaging activities for YAB meetings and events. These activities require working some evenings and occasional weekends. 

• Provide support and pastoral care to YAB members, including personal development planning and safeguarding.

• Help recruit YAB members (young people aged 16 –25) through interviews and managing recruitment. 

• Develop and schedule the YAB induction programme for new members. 

• Monitor attendance and engagement of YAB members. 

• Coordinate YAB attendance at external events. 

2. Facilitating Youth Voice in communications: 

• Act as a bridge between the YAB and our external communications team. 

• Work with the communications team to amplify young people's voices on social media. 

• Assist young people in sharing their views and stories through various communication methods. 

3. Managing grants and contracts: 

• Maintain records of payments and tasks using Salesforce. 

• Assist stakeholders and team members in using Salesforce effectively. 

• Support in procurement processes and grant management by organising documents and scheduling meetings. 

• Proactively identify and address issues. 

4. Collaboration and support: 

• Work closely with other roles (including our Operations and Culture team) within YEF to ensure coordinated efforts and sharing of best practices.

You have experience and knowledge of adhering to safeguarding processes, and are able to be flexible to suit young people’s needs - understanding when plans need to change at short notice.

• You’re passionate about helping young people to be heard: You have some experience in using media/social media to tell young people’s stories and are keen to learn more.

• You’re able to juggle many diverse tasks at once: You enjoy moving between different types of projects, whether that be leading YAB sessions, supporting the development of young people one-to-one or creating exciting content with young people. You prefer a job that looks different every day. You don’t get overwhelmed by a long to-do list and can effectively identify what’s most important and how to balance different priorities. 

• You’re brilliant at improving and organising things: You like finding ways to make things operate better for everyone. You enjoy bringing order to what is going on. You’re good at getting your head around how a process works and improving it. It’s a plus if you’ve used the Salesforce system before, but not a requirement.

We are recruiting for a Divisional Children’s Worker to provide practical knowledge, expertise, and example of children’s ministry. Working to develop and deliver a children’s work strategy to enable local corps and centres to raise leaders and children who are disciples of Jesus in our tradition of social change and justice. The South West Divisional Headquarters is in Exeter and the applicant will be required to travel there at least once fortnightly as well as visiting various areas across the division including Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire, Bristol and Gloucester. Although, this post will be more focused in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

Key responsibilities include:

• Equipping and empowering children’s leaders to enhance their communities and engage with children and the issues that affect them.
• Enabling children to experience ‘Fullness of life with Jesus’ in broader contexts. This might involve leading event and residential opportunities as well as children’s work in corps contexts.
• Contributing into the planning and review process for the programmes and activities across the division.

This role has an occupational requirement that you must be a committed and practising Christian. As well as being an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and organisational skills, you will have:

• A recognised qualification in youth work and/or good experience of working with young people in outreach, discipleship, and leadership.
• Practical experience of developing community youth outreach projects and schools based mentoring programmes.
• Relevant technical skills, including project management, finance, stakeholder engagement, social media.
• The ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends, overnight and residential weeks when necessary.

You will work directly with children and young people with learning disabilities who are living in a residential home near Ludlow, providing them with advocacy support on a fortnightly basis. You will have experience and a passion for working with children and/or adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.

You will empower and support them to ensure their voices are heard within decision–making processes that effect their lives and keep in regularly contact with children and young people to ensure their best interests are safeguarded.

You will be a capable ambassador for Coram Voice with the ability to engage effectively with professionals, carers, other stakeholders and most importantly children and young people.

Parents 1st UK is dedicated to enabling quality peer support to flourish during pregnancy, birth and beyond. Our national work: Through an ‘open source’ online community platform, we provide all the resources necessary to set up a perinatal peer support initiative. Our local work: Parents 1st Essex currently operates in South and North Essex, delivering perinatal peer support to parents, through 1-1 or group support. Peer supporters engage and develop trusting relationships with parents during pregnancy, continue support through birth and the first few months afterwards.

Alongside this, Parents 1st UK also leads the Essex Peer to Parent Network, a peer support collaborative that aims to develop a hub of good practice across Essex. Community Navigator (Mental Health)

This role is an opportunity to work for Mind BLMK as part of the Milton Keynes NHS mental health service for someone with experience working in health, social care or information and advice, in direct contact with service users.

Working alongside colleagues from Central Northwest London Foundation Trust (CNWL) this role will provide referral management to and from Secondary Services. This will include signposting patients to statutory services including talking therapies and wider community based & voluntary sector support.

The Community Navigator will work as part of the team to deliver on the aims and objectives of the Mental Health Hub whilst representing the Voluntary and Community sector with the NHS.

Service Delivery

• Work within the NHS Mental Health SPA (Single Point of Access) Team to review and process referrals received from GP Practices and other sources including those to be subsequently triaged and assessed by mental health practitioners.
• Actively call patients with a view to assisting them through the process and making their onward appointments into community or secondary care service providers.
• Support the hub to signpost patients and direct them to appropriate services including secondary care, the local Voluntary and Community sector services and activities that support the patients’ wider determinates of their mental health and wellbeing.
• Answer calls, ensure sufficient phone cover, respond to messages/voicemails, provide administrative support to the Mental Health SPA for all services and deal with queries in a sensitive and timely way liaising with clinical or team lead as is appropriate.
• Monitor service inboxes during core office hours, responding to any queries professionally providing helpful information.
• Monitor and action tasks within SystmOne and maintain records of all activities carried out, i.e. outbound calls, calls received, archiving any received correspondence.
• Build good working relationships with the voluntary and community sector, relevant services and activities to ensure signposting pathways are kept up to date as well navigating and developing the setup of new signposting pathways through networking.
• Provide clinical and non-clinical information in appropriate chronological templates to other services.
• Carry out health and safety responsibilities as directed by Managers in line with Mind BLMK’s H&S policies, procedures, and guidance (risk assessments, reviews, reporting, safeguarding, incidents/accidents, premises).
• To bring VCSE experience, knowledge and culture into an NHS team.

The Salvation Army are partnering with the University of Stirling via the Salvation Army Centre for Addiction Services and Research to deliver a trial for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). This unique and innovative social care trial will examine the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of a Peer Navigator/peer support intervention for people experiencing homelessness and problems with substance use. We are now looking for a Peer Navigator (lived experience practitioner) within our Homelessness service to deliver a relationship-based intervention to those experiencing drug and alcohol problems and homelessness, providing both practical and emotional support.

Right now, we’re looking for someone like you to join our team in Aylesbury who support service users facing drug and / or alcohol related issues. You will provide the vital administrative, data entry and reporting and reception support the service needs to run smoothly. This is a substance misuse service that works with adults aged 18+ and is run in partnership with Inclusion (MPFT NHS Trust), Aquarius, Connections Support and Build on Belief.

As well as GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above (or equivalent), you have experience of data entry, manipulation and reporting. We’ll also be looking for a background in an admin role where you dealt with people from a wide range of backgrounds, both over the phone and face-to-face. There is a requirement in the role to generate, print and record prescriptions. Familiar with all aspects of electronic communication such as email, diaries and the intranet, you have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Windows files and folders too. What’s more, you have lots of initiative, are great at multi-tasking, work well within a team and under direction from others.
