Supporting parents beyond the school gate

In recent years, families have faced a series of compounding challenges: the cost-of-living crisis, rising child poverty, and deepening educational inequality. These pressures have left many parents struggling to meet basic needs—let alone feel confident engaging in their child’s learning journey.  Parentkind has responded to this moment with compassion, agility and purpose, through a series of transformative campaigns, resources, and partnerships. 

Our No Cold Child initiative with FatFace stepped in to address a stark statistic: over 150,000 children in the UK do not own a winter coat due to poverty. Through our trusted relationships with schools we distributed 10,000 warm, high-quality coats worth £600,000 to the children who needed them most. Winning the Business Charity Awards ‘Fashion & Retail’ Award, and shortlisted for two further awards, the campaign has been praised not just for providing warmth, but for restoring dignity, inclusion, and school readiness to thousands of children.

The All Dressed Up campaign—developed with World Book Day and Rubies Masquerade—confronted the often-overlooked issue of financial exclusion on key celebration days. More than 100,000 free dressing up costumes worth £1.34 million were delivered to children from low-income families. By enabling participation in events like World Book Day, we helped spark imagination, joy, and belonging for children who might otherwise feel left out—boosting self-esteem and supporting a positive connection to learning.Furthermore, helping attract children into school on a day which often sees struggling parents keep their children at home.

Alongside these national campaigns, Parentkind supports families year-round through a growing suite of programmes designed to inform, prepare and empower parents. Our Be School Ready programme offers crucial guidance and confidence to parents preparing their children for the leap into primary education. With a mix of practical advice, developmental tips, and reassurance, through the distribution of 150,000 copies of Be School Ready and an online campaign, it supports families at one of the most formative moments in their child’s life.

We also deliver a wide-ranging series of live expert webinars and parent-friendly resources, covering topics such as managing anxiety, supporting special educational needs, navigating school transitions, and building home-school partnerships. These resources, developed in consultation with experts and rooted in lived parent experience, equip families to feel informed and empowered, no matter what challenges arise.

Our direct support of schools

Our collaboration with Asda on Cashpot for Schools is another example of unlocking support at scale. This innovative community-led funding model allowed shoppers to nominate and fund their local schools simply through everyday spending. This campaign has generated £5.78 million for schools during the past twelve months, supporting everything from basic classroom supplies to vital extracurricular programmes and pupil wellbeing initiatives. Also shortlisted for a Business Charity Award, it is already a model for community-driven philanthropy.

In April, we launched our Parent-Friendly Schools Accreditation Programme, designed to formally recognise schools that go above and beyond in fostering positive, inclusive relationships with parents. The accreditation celebrates schools that actively listen to parent voices, make engagement easy and accessible, and embed family partnership in their culture. It is a practical and inspiring tool to drive long-term change in the sector and offers a roadmap for schools wanting to strengthen their community.

Our focus on Policy & Research

Our work is grounded in evidence. Since 2023, we have conducted the UK’s largest annual parent survey: the National Parent Survey. With approaching 6,000 participants providing 130,000 bits of data to provide invaluable insights into the struggles, concerns, hopes and fears of parents. The findings are fed directly into government consultations and have already informed national debates on school funding, attendance, mental health support, SEND provision, and curriculum reform.

In each of the past two years the number of policymakers, educators, parents and researchers accessing the National Parent Survey exceeded seven thousand, and the survey featured in more than two hundred media outlets each year. In addition to the National Parent Survey, Parentkind undertakes representative polling of parents throughout the year on a variety of important topics, which increasingly find exposure in the media and policy discussion.

Parentkind provides the secretariat for the Westminster APPG for Parents and the Stormont APG for Parental Participation in Education. Two very successful parliamentary groups bringing together policymakers and a variety of stakeholders to consider the challenges faced by parents and act as a voice for them through a variety of policymakers.

Our Media Engagement

Since becoming recognised as the UK’s largest parent charity, with likely more groups and frontline volunteers than the Scouts or Girlguiding, Parentkind has gained increasing prominence in the media.Beyond the reach of the National Parent Survey and our regular polling, Parentkind receives frequent requests for quotes of reflection and input by media in relation to their journalism and from Government and non-Government entities in support of policy announcements.

Beyond this, the Parentkind community of volunteers and PTAs share local or regional media announcements of their own.Whether or not it celebrating the completion of large projects they have invested countless hours and thousands of pounds into realising, or the community event they have worked into the night to deliver for their school communities.

It will be your role to take this much further, gaining increasing exposure for the work of Parentkind, its community, and parents more broadly.

What we are looking for…

• Someone with a “nose for news” and an understanding what makes a newsworthy opinion poll that will hit the headline and go big on social media. 
• We are a small, fast paced team, there are no line management responsibilities attached to the role. We’re looking for someone with a “roll up your sleeves up and get on with it” mentality.
• Being able to demonstrate you can sell our parent voice research and amazing existing data to media across broadcast, social media and print media 
• Being able to lead and deliver a plan to raise our profile on social media, broadcast and in print media
• A good understanding of the challenges faced by children and families, education debates and education policy, we are the voice of parents.
• We are a cross party charity and we work with all parties, we want someone who understands that approach and brings it to their work.
• Someone who can to respond to social media debates at pace and make sure are part of the debate.
• Experience of writing compelling written documents when 100 words would make a stronger case than 1,000. You can bring evidence to life and make an argument to convince.
• Someone with experience of appearing on broadcast media and willing to be a ‘talking head’ for Parentkind as required. This is not essential, but it would be great to have someone willing to do this.

Your mission is to massively increase our online, in print and social media presence with a specific focus on policy, research and impact, to make us the highest profile parent charity in the UK. We have a huge amount of data on what parents think and we need you to get it seen. This is a great job for someone who wants to grab hold of a “comms” function and make it their own.

We are seeking a dynamic Development Director to drive the next chapter of our growth: expanding into new African countries; growing our university partnerships; and scaling our spin-out start-up whose profits support the charity's mission.

Auditory Verbal UK (AVUK) is an award-winning charity that wants all deaf children to have the same opportunities in life as their hearing peers.  It supports deaf babies and children to learn to listen and speak with Auditory Verbal therapy and provides internationally accredited training in Auditory Verbal practice for health and education professionals.  AVUK works to raise expectations and outcomes for deaf children and increase access to, as well as awareness and understanding of, Auditory Verbal therapy, with a clear mission to enable every family with a deaf child the opportunity to access Auditory Verbal therapy through publicly funded services close to where they live.

Overview

Working with the Head of Fundraising, you will play a key role in securing income from corporate partners and major donors to support AVUK’s bold 10-year plan. These partnerships are central to our long-term strategy to transform the landscape of Auditory Verbal provision, ensuring that every family who wants their child to learn to listen and talk can access a publicly funded Auditory Verbal programme in their local area.

This role requires experience in relationship fundraising, ideally working with businesses and/or major donors, and a strong ability to build rapport and trust. You’ll be an effective communicator and collaborator, confident in supporting income generation activities that align and elevate AVUK’s goals.

With experience of securing five to six-figure gifts, you’ll use your commercial acumen to identify and nurture your pipeline and partnerships, contributing to our annual fundraising target of £1.5m and setting the foundations for growth to £2m+ in future years.

This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, diligent, and comfortable taking initiative. You’ll thrive in a dynamic environment where relationship-building and ownership of your work are key to driving income and impact. The role is weighted towards developing new corporate partnerships, with responsibility for managing our existing partnership with Markerstudy Group, and some time spent cultivating potential major donor relationships with senior management support.  To help you succeed, you have support and guidance from our Head of Fundraising, alongside a passionate and collaborative CEO and Senior Management Team.

Contract Details

Location: Primarily remote, with 2 days a month in our London office, plus meetings with partners where required.

Working Hours: 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE); flexible working fully supported through policies and practice.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate partnerships strategy

• With support and guidance from the Head of Fundraising, lead the development and delivery of AVUK’s corporate partnerships strategy in support of our overall fundraising goals.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities at a five and six figure value, unlocking new opportunities that contribute to a £130k partnerships budget this year.

 Business development & income generation

• Work closely with your fundraising and comms colleagues to create compelling proposals and pitches that resonate with corporate and major donor audiences and help you to secure new gifts / partnerships.
• Proactively grow and maintain a strong funding pipeline, creating new prospects for our priority funding areas through quality research, strategic outreach and developing engagement opportunities.

 Relationship management & external engagement

• Manage a small portfolio of corporate partnerships including our flagship partnership with Markerstudy Group, delivering excellent stewardship and ensuring long-term engagement.
• Lead the planning and delivery of the Sounds of Success event (November 2026), as a key moment in our stewardship and engagement calendar.
• Support the Head of Fundraising, CEO, and Fundraising Advisory Board in developing relationships with potential major donors, providing inspiring stewardship and maximising opportunities through networks, events, and strategic engagement.

 Effective use of systems and processes

• Champion the effective use of our Salesforce database to support you in high-quality relationship management and reporting.
• Commitment to monitoring and reporting on your income and taking a proactive approach to addressing issues or gaps in budgeted income.

Camp Jojo is currently in transition. Over the first 8 years it has worked from one established site in Mersea, Essex; but we are now opening a second site (Nag’s Head Farm) near Appleby in Cumbria. The role of Volunteer Manager (Nags Head Farm) is to provide the management and administration of the key Volunteer sector of Camp Jojo, and to offer administrative support and feedback to members of the Camp Jojo Board in this regard.

The Volunteer Manager will be responsible for successful initial contact, recruitment, communication with and administration of volunteer for the Nag’s Head Farm camps, through to their successful placement at camp. They will also work closely with the Operations Manager: Families and Site Ops. (Nags Head Farm). They will be guided in their role with the existing managers at Ivy Farm, Mersea, Essex.

The primary task of the Volunteer Manager (Nag’s Head Farm) will be to oversee the whole process of Volunteer applications to camps at Nag’s Head Farm, and to maintain and develop databases in support of this. They will be the contact point for information and support throughout the Nag’s Head Farm volunteers’ pathway with Camp Jojo. In addition, they will attend and minute meetings which concern volunteer management, etc.

They may need to work flexibly; the demands will be seasonal, with many more hours needed through spring and summer than autumn and winter. They will also need to be present for the first day of the camps during the summer, which are mostly during the school holidays. The Volunteer Manager (Nag’s Head Farm) will have a varied and sometimes high-paced job environment. As such, they will need to handle multiple tasks, manage their own time well, and interact professionally

Camp Jojo is a small/medium, but growing charity with a committed team of Trustees, Special Advisors, and Volunteers. This is a chance to contribute to a dynamic organisation and work in a supportive environment. In particular, Camp Jojo’s extension of its work to Nags Head Farm, Appleby, Cumbria, is new; with Open Days held in 2025, and the first camps to be held in August 2026.

The holder of this post will be critical to this development; working to establish a sister site in Cumbria to Ivy Farm on Mersea island, Essex, with a well tried and tested model of operations. The role of Nags Head Farm: Operations Manager (Families and Site Ops) is to offer leadership and administrative support to key functions of Camp Jojo at Nags Head Farm, and to members of the Camp Jojo Board, in relation to the camps held at Nags Head Farm.

The Contractor will handle clerical and logistics tasks for the organisation in a timely and efficient way. The primary task of the Nags Head Farm: Operations Manager will be to oversee family applications to the camps, and to maintain and develop data bases in support of this. They will hold a key role in relation to communications with the families pre-, during, and post-camps. In addition, they will attend and minute meetings, and contribute to camp operations in planning etc. They may need to work flexibly, according to the seasonal demands of the charity.

They will attend the first day (Friday) of each camp The Nags Head Farm: Operations Manager will have a varied and sometimes high-pace job environment. As such, they will need to handle multiple tasks, manage their own time well, interact professionally with the wider Camp Jojo community, and be very good communicators.

Our ideal candidate is an idividual who has a strong background in commercial and operational activities, proven experience in strategic leadership and organisational management, strong financial acumen and excellent comminication skills.

The Opportunity

The Board of Trustees is seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead Llys Nini into the next phase of its development. This is an unique opportunity to make a lasting difference for animals, people, and the environment across South Wales.

The Role

The new CEO will:

• Lead, manage, and inspire our staff and volunteers to deliver the charity’s vision and strategy.

Job purpose Summary:

To be the organisation’s lead professional, leading on strategy development and delivering the objectives of the Charity. To lead, manage and develop the staff teams in order to meet the organisation’s strategic objectives and ensure its sustainability.

Accountable to the Board of Trustees and acting as the interface between employees, volunteers, and other partners with the shared aim of delivering upon the Branch’s charitable objectives.

Main responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership

• Provide vision, leadership, direction and management in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, employees, RSPCA, and relevant stakeholders.
• Lead on strategy development, business planning and financial planning in partnership with the Board of Trustees and Finance Manager.
• Develop and monitor strategies and policies to ensure the long term viability of the organisation, including care and maintenance of the land and buildings.

2. Governance

• Support the Board of Trustees in the responsibilities to ensure robust governance structures.
• Alongside the board, taking responsibility for the legal obligations of the organisations in accordance with the RSPCA and Charity Commission rules.

3. Financial & Resource management

• Develop a funding strategy that explores implements and maintains short- and long-term funding options.
• Develop appropriate partnerships with other local charities and organisations.
• Working with the Finance Manager, preparation and oversight of resources and investments.
• Identify and manage risks within the organisation, ensuring appropriate controls are in place.

4. Partnership relationships and management

• Build strong and strategic relationships and alliances with the RSPCA and local organisations within the community.

5. Operation Management

• Provide value driven leadership, support and professional development across the organisation, including performance review processes.
• Monitor and review the organisational structure, performance and quality of the services provided to the public in all areas.
• Ensure all policies are up to date and relevant.
• Acting as on the safeguarding leads for the Charity, manage the concerns from staff, customers and visitors, in line with the policy and procedures.
• Promote the importance of the Welsh Language and culture, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and acting as a role model for the inclusive values of the Branch.

6. People Management

• Effectively line manage the senior staff.
• Encourage a culture and ethos of consultative and collaborative working throughout the organisation.

What’s your mission?

In this role you will embody Ada’s culture, being responsible for the wellbeing of the staff and attracting new talent as well as providing effective leadership and line management of the People function. Reporting directly into the CEO, you will act as a trusted, strategic partner, ensuring alignment on both organisation and people capabilities, fostering a culture of high performance and growth. You will regularly attend Executive Leadership Team (ELT) meetings and engage with Board Members and have the opportunity to harness the experience and expertise of some of our private sector pro bono supporters to drive forward the vital People Management agenda at Ada, which is a core pillar of our ‘Evolving to Ada 2.0’ strategy and critical to scaling our impact.

You will be responsible for leading the People and Talent team across our London and Manchester campuses, and ensuring relevant processes are followed as well as driving forward people management priorities and initiatives. This is a hands-on operational role that will also stretch your strategic thinking and planning skills. The role is expected to evolve in seniority as you build out the team underneath you in line with the College’s planned growth in learner volumes and staff headcount. The postholder will be expected to make regular visits to the college’s campus in Manchester/London.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

● Management -

○ Partner the Executive Leadership Team to lead on the implementation of Ada’s people management strategy as part of our new organisational strategy.

○ You will set clear priorities and focus areas for the People team, effectively managing performance, and supporting development.

○ Provide effective day-to-day support for the Executive Leadership Team and line managers to ensure the College runs smoothly, is attracting ever an ever better quality of candidates for vacant roles and is HR compliant at all times.

○ Design and implement initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction and retention, promoting a positive and inclusive culture for Ada.

● Building our Employer Brand -

○ Working with internal and external stakeholders, work to ensure we significantly improve our ability to attract and retain the best talent in a competitive market.

  Create a transparent and authentic brand externally to help Ada to welcome more amazing people.

● Employee Relations -

○ Advise line managers and staff on best practices for managing employee relation cases and conflict resolution using external best practice and up to date legislation.

○ Partner with the ELT on complex, high risk cases or disputes to deliver a pragmatic outcome that reduces risk to Ada.

○ Stay up to date with relevant employment laws and regulations, and ensure compliance in all employee activities while upholding Ada’s organisational values.

● Policies & Procedures -

○ Provide support and guidance to line managers and the Executive Leadership Team. Acting as a trusted advisor in all cases including performance management, conflict resolution and disciplinary cases ensuring Ada’s policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.

○ Act as the leader on topics/requests related to policies, employment law and compliance.

○ Ensure policies and procedures are reviewed regularly and are up to date.

● Systems & Processes -

○ Provide support on change management programmes including restructures, ensuring change processes are implemented smoothly and risks are identified and mitigated in a timely manner.

○ Drive adoption of the recently implemented HR platform (i.e. AccessHR). Ensure all staff adhere to the agreed processes including performance management.

    Plans are to effectively link performance management to reward and recognition.

○ Proactively review existing processes and identify areas to introduce efficiencies.

● Diversity & Inclusion - Partner with the Executive Leadership Team, and lead on the implementation of the EDI action plan. In time, evolve this into a more formal strategy that ensures Ada remains an inclusive and welcoming employer across our campuses for all our staff and other stakeholders.

Key Skills and experience required

• A minimum of 4 years previous People/HR generalist and partnering experience preferably with some experience of working in schools, colleges, universities, training providers or education management organisations.
•  Level 7 CIPD qualified, or similar experience is essential Demonstrable experience of improving talent attraction, selection and development
•  Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of UK employment law and experience in handling complex ER cases, Employment Tribunals, ACAS Conciliations and Settlements. 
•  Demonstrable experience of working with leaders on complex people related issues.
•  High level of integrity, discretion and confidentiality.
•  Evidence of delivering HR solutions, including strategic HR initiatives and change projects.
