Delivering high-quality events for UK foundations

We’re looking for an experienced and proactive senior events manager to lead the delivery of our learning and events programme for a 12 month period.

This role is pivotal in ensuring excellence in how we deliver value to our members through events and learning.

About the role

Key responsibilities

· Plan and deliver all aspects of ACF’s events, from scheduling and logistics to communications and evaluation

· Oversee delivery of our flagship annual conference, managing suppliers, speakers and internal stakeholders

· Lead planning and coordination across the events and learning programme, ensuring it is well-structured, relevant and efficient

· Manage event delivery systems and processes, ensuring smooth delegate journeys and robust evaluation

· Work cross-organisationally to support internal teams to deliver high-quality events

· Line manage the senior events officer and contribute to a collaborative, supportive team culture

• Administer legacies in a professional and approachable manner, to include correspondence with solicitors and other interested parties

• Work with various stakeholders on contested legacies, collaborating with other charities where needed

About you

Working arrangements

We are looking for a Complex Caseworker to join the Bristol High Stability Housing team. In this role you will work with a fixed group or identified people who are referred to the scheme who require a specialist intervention and multi-disciplinary approach to secure sustainable outcomes.

In this role you will work with the Service Manager and alongside local services. You will take responsibility for carrying a caseload and supporting the day to day delivery of the scheme. You will work towards delivering outcomes which focus on sustaining accommodation, improving health and wellbeing, engaging and sustaining formal treatment for substance misuse, and securing a range of educational and employment opportunities including volunteering. You will work with the Rough Sleeping Navigator Coordinator to:

• Be the single point of contact while supporting clients through the transition into independent tenancies.
• Build and maintain working relationships with agencies and individuals who can aid clients in sustaining their recovery and meeting outcomes.
• Work with colleagues to find ways to address support needs for individual clients such as improving life skills, tenancy sustainment, employment and education, and building recovery networks with agencies, peers and from within the community.
• Provide evidence based information on desired outcomes.

Single Friendly Church Network is a young charity which encourages churches to welcome and value single people at every stage of life and of all types of singleness. Our work and influence are growing across a wide range of denominations. We want to reach more churches across the UK who could benefit from our resources and training, with the vision that all single Christians will be able to find a welcoming Single Friendly Church in their local area where they can flourish.

Terms

There is an office in central London. We are looking for someone who can commit up to 3 days per week on average, on a freelance basis. The successful candidate would likely be in the office one day a week. The hourly rate offered would be between £35 and £45 depending on experience.

This role will play a leadership role in delivering our ambitious policy influencing programme, helping to shape and implement influencing plans to bring about the changes needed to reduce, prevent and eventually end the need for food banks in the UK.  It will provide management and oversight to some of our strategic projects.

Role responsibilities

· Developing and implementing Trussell’s influencing strategy

Working with teams across the organisation to ensure key groups, including our community of food banks, corporate partners, churches and church-related organisations have a clear role in our policy influencing approach.

· Planning and delivering impactful public affairs activity

Ensuring systems are in place to help plan, monitor and evaluate public affairs activity and maximise opportunities to engage with key audiences, including Parliamentarians, advisers, and UK Government Ministers; and support close working with colleagues in all UK nations and regions.  Managing the development and delivery of public affairs activity to support high profile influencing campaigns.

· Building and managing strong relationships with key external stakeholders

Developing relationships, partnerships and networks to help raise the profile, credibility and influence of Trussell and our policy positions, particularly in the UK Parliament.  Representing Trussell and promoting the organisation’s policy position to key audiences, including in meetings and events with Parliamentarians.

· Developing public affairs support to the food bank community

Working closely with a small team of Network Policy and Research Officers and the Organising and Local Mobilisation team to support our community of food banks to build and maintain strong relationships with their local MPs.  Ensuring public affairs activity is well aligned to campaign strategies involving the food bank network.

· Embedding participatory approaches across our public affairs and wider influencing activity

Supporting further development of a participatory approach to policy influencing to ensure it is rooted in the lived experience of individuals affected by poverty.  This includes ensuring an ethical approach in line with our values.

· Providing advice and line management

Have line management responsibility for individuals within the team, providing pastoral and development guidance along with task management on key projects.  This includes regular 1:1s, objective setting and collaborative monitoring, and support with development needs.

Person Specification

Technical skills and minimum knowledge:

· Track record of successfully influencing politicians and key decision-makers to achieve strategic goals at different levels of government.

· Track record of delivering strategic public affairs activity based on robust evidence, from development to evaluation.

· Can explain components of effective policy influencing, including knowledge of the machinery and structure of government (UK, devolved, local) and experience of informing campaigns activity to mobilise support for policy change.

· Demonstrates a good understanding of policies that affect UK poverty and hunger.  Can explain policy motivations of main political parties and can advise on how to influence them most effectively.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in demonstrating enthusiasm and experience when communicating complex topics to non-specialist audiences.

· Experience of line managing, including dealing with performance issues and supporting team development.

About Women in Prison

Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities. We also campaign for systems change that addresses the root causes of offending, reduces the harmful impact of prison, and creates workable, community-based alternatives to imprisonment.

Job Description:

Job Purpose:

The Family Advocate will provide trauma-informed specialist support to women in the community and in prison who are at risk of losing custody of their children/have already experienced child removal. This role will also upskill colleagues, and work with Children’s Social Care teams to improve the response to women impacted by the criminal justice system.

Key Responsibility Areas 

1.      Provide high-quality, trauma-responsive support to women in contact with the criminal justice system, who are at risk of experiencing/have experienced child removal. 

2.      Provide expert advice and support to colleagues, including upskilling through information and training sessions on Children’s Social Care and family court processes, and increase Children's Social Care teams' knowledge and understanding on women in the criminal justice system.   

3.      Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders, such as Children’s Social Care, probation, prison, to ensure a collaborative approach to women’s needs. 

4.      Monitor case management systems to ensure accurate and timely data recording, aligning with contract KPIs and WIP policies.
