About the Role

Casework Administrators work as part of the Casework Support Team offering excellent customer service to internal colleagues and external stakeholders.

You will be the point of contact for students seeking help and guidance about the ombudsman service on offer. This can be challenging and will require empathy and excellent oral and written communication skills.

You will complete various administrative tasks to ensure that reviews run smoothly, keeping cases up to date and making sure the team receive all the information they need.

The Casework Administrator role is a good starting point for someone looking to start a career in complaints handling or regulation.

About the role  

We’re Scripture Union (SU), we’re one of the UK’s longest-established children and youth ministry organisations. We’re working in partnership with Exeter ICE (Initiatives in Christian Education), a schools ministry charity, to offer this unique role to reach many more young people across the South West of England. 

We’re looking for a creative and entrepreneurial individual with a passion for helping children and young people across Exeter and the South West of England to explore and respond to the good news of Jesus. To do this, we’re offering two roles; Schools Worker and Rural Revealing Jesus Pioneer, which could be filled by one person as a full-time role, or two individuals working closely together. 

These unique roles combine the benefits of direct face-to-face engagement with young people in an urban context, delivering assemblies and workshops across Exeter while also developing and mentoring others to expand ministry in more rural contexts across the South West Region. A flexible role shaped around you  

These roles are being offered by Scripture Union and ICE; two organisations with a long history of partnership and collaboration. The roles could be combined into one full-time position for one candidate, or filled by two individuals who would work closely together. About ICE   

For the last 36 years, ICE has been working in the schools across Exeter bringing faith to life. We interact with young people throughout their time in school sharing God’s love through our words and actions. We tell stories of what Jesus has done, open the Bible and invite them to consider for themselves who Jesus is and what that means for them.

We work in 20 primary schools, 5 secondary schools and the sixth form college. We connect with roughly 225 children and young people every week through our lunch time and after-school clubs. And over a year will reach around 5,000 young people through assemblies sharing bible stories, biographies of Christian heroes and the good news of Jesus. 

(p.s we also give out about 9,000 biscuits every year too)

We are a charity with a small staff team, and a mighty team of over 40 volunteers who serve with us week in week out to make our work possible.

  

About your team  

Like many jobs, you will work with lots of different teams in different contexts. With this role, you will have the benefit of being part of both a local-focused team and a second team with a regional focus.

If you take the role as a combined full-time position, you’ll work half-time out of the office of ICE, joining an exceptional team of 3, working face-to-face with young people in Exeter primary and secondary schools and colleges across Exeter, this work is term time only. You will also be a part of the SU South Region team of 5 workers at SU who work across SU’s largest region, from Kent to Cornwall. You’ll contribute your expertise in a variety of settings, ranging from urban and suburban to coastal and rural areas. You’ll have a brilliant time getting acquainted with this rich tapestry of local and national partners. Across the south region, we currently work with 130 churches and have 150 faith guides. We’d like to see these numbers grow significantly over the next few years. And if two candidates split the roles between them, both roles will have close working relationships with the other team. 

  

The south region includes the south west of England brimming with distinct charm and rich cultural heritage, a tapestry of contrasts, where dramatic coastline and golden beaches seamlessly transition into ancient, brooding moors and vibrant, historic cities and rural towns. We are particularly interested in how sports, arts, and culture can be explored to further enable the mission and would be particularly interested in candidates with expertise in either of these areas. In the south region we have the highest density of Christian holidays and festivals, with events that we organise and run directly and also a variety of festival and missions that we support and partner with, you’ll have a fantastic opportunity each summer to get hands on engaged in these mission and festivals throughout the year. 

  

Job description  

The official title has two parts School Worker and Rural Revealing Jesus Pioneer. Here’s a brief breakdown of each:   

Schools Worker – ICE  
You will work in and around the city of Exeter as part of the schools team to plan and deliver assemblies, small group work, lunch clubs, and projects for primary and secondary schools to explain Christian faith - this will vary between working closely with colleagues, or working independently. You’ll be planning and filming short videos for occasional assembly viewing, liaising with volunteers from churches who have a connection with a school and liaising with the trustees of the charity in continuing momentum in the work.  

  

Rural Revealing Jesus Pioneer - SU  
You will work across the south west of England, with a particular focus on rural areas, multiplying your impact through equipping, empowering and mobilising others in outreach work. You’ll add energy, expertise, direction, and skill to the mix. You’ll recruit, motivate, train, equip and support Faith Guides; you’ll work in partnership with this group as well as leading by example, you will model excellent mission delivery to children and young people aligned with SU’s mission.

Horsham Y Centre provides 24-hour supported housing services offering medium levels of housing-related support for young people aged 16-25 with 50 bedspaces and shared communal facilities. We adopt a trauma informed and psychologically informed approach to supporting our residents to help them build essential life skills, identify their goals and work towards aspirations so that they can move on to enjoy fully independent futures. We have a dedicated team of Support Workers, Night Workers and additional Bank Workers who provide support, guidance, and signposting around areas such as housing, budgeting, living skills, jobs, relationship building and wellbeing. Situated in the middle of Horsham, the service has strong links with and contributes to the local community.

We are looking for a Housing Night Worker to join our Horsham Y team. Main areas of responsibilities are:

Safety and security

• Provide a friendly and professional front-of-house welcome to residents, visitors and staff, and ensure the building is safe, secure quiet and welcoming 
• Maximise the wellbeing of residents and visitors by ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols and house rules, all within the terms of tenancy agreements
• Assess and monitor the risks presented by residents to ensure they can keep themselves safe and, where possible, continue their development
• Record all incidents and accidents and share appropriately with the wider team, your manager and, if necessary, the central safeguarding team 

Engagement with residents

• Welcome residents home and provide informal and responsive support so they can articulate their aspirations and ambitions and acquire the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives
• Ensure resident’s views, aspirations, concerns, and ideas are sought so they can play an active role in influencing the services they receive
• Proactively promote the services on offer and ensure residents are encouraged to engage with those services
• Contribute to, or support, evening groupwork activities so that residents can access tailored solutions that meet their needs, wishes and aspirations

Administration and housekeeping

• Undertake tasks as directed, including but not limited to: inputting data, assessments, reviews, case notes onto our client database and entering new residents details/closing ex-resident records
• Completing health and safety/compliance checks, and recording estate inspectors and room checks
• Adding maintenance requests to our property services system

General

• Work as part of a team, on a rota four on four off shift pattern, alongside another Housing Night Worker, ensuring young people at the service have non-judgemental, objective at night, along with taking responsibility for personal safety during periods of lone working
• Contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations
• Participate in relevant continuing professional development and utilise Reflective Practice Supervision as part of leading psychologically informed practice

Regional Youth and Community Director
OASIS UK – Youth and Community (OCP)

Permanent, full-time post, 40 hours per week, inclusive of breaks 

Salary: £51,959 per annum (£54,669 p.a. London Weighting for London based staff)

At an exciting and key stage in our journey we have the opportunity for Youth and Community Directors to join our team supporting Oasis’ youth and community work in neighbourhoods in the following regions;

- London and South East (North, Central and South London and Kent - five local Oasis charities)

- North West (Greater Manchester – two local charities, and two regionwide youth violence contracts)

- North East (NE Lincs, Humber, Bradford and Sheffield – four local charities)

With accountability to the Oasis CEO for Youth and Community the role of the regional Youth and Community Director will have three main functions:

1 Strategic management oversight of local Youth and Community teams

2 Regional development, working alongside other functions within the Oasis family

3 Being part of the national Youth and Community leadership team

The Youth and Community Director will have strategic management oversight of local Youth and Community teams in the region, providing accountability and support to the local leaders and charity boards. This responsibility area falls into two categories; those the Director is directly responsible for, and those they are responsible for ensuring are carried out by those within their region.

We're looking for an Administration Assistant to support an efficient administrative centre for The Bishop of Birmingham's ministry.

The Office of the Bishop of Birmingham provides efficient administration to support the work and ministry of The Bishop of Birmingham as he leads The Church of England - Birmingham in its vision of "Growing Churches at the Heart of Every Community".

The role is varied and demanding, requiring a calm and patient approach and a high degree of organisational and administrative skills. Key working relationships are with The Bishop and his family, the Bishop's Chaplain, the Office and Site Manager and Executive Assistant and the rest of the team in the Bishops' Office, and, more widely, with a wide variety of people locally, nationally and internationally.

Duties will include:

• Assisting in arranging official hospitality by the bishop as required and sharing in welcoming visitors to the Bishop's Office.
• Acting as the first point of contact for the wide range and high volume of internal and external telephone calls, emails and other enquiries for the Bishops' Office.

About the role

FLEX is looking for a passionate advocate with a good understanding of the UK political system, of labour abuse and/or exploitation and human trafficking in the UK, and demonstrable experience of coalition working and building relationships with key stakeholders working in the anti-trafficking, employment rights, and/or immigration sectors. This recruitment comes at an exciting and challenging time for our work at the intersection of employment rights and immigration policy. This role will inform and support our work to influence and improve law, policy and practice affecting worker in high-risk sectors in the UK.

In this role, you will lead on FLEX’s advocacy at the London level and coordinate the joint research advocacy and project work of FLEX networks and coalitions. These currently include the Labour Exploitation Advisory Group (LEAG) and the Taskforce on Victims of Trafficking in Immigration Detention, two networks made of expert organisations directly supporting people who have experienced or are at risk of exploitation. Above all this role requires someone with real passion and commitment to FLEX’s work to end labour exploitation and an excitement for working in a small, dynamic team.

The Role

We are looking for a Youth Practitioner to work alongside the Youth Programme Team to develop and deliver our Nike funded Schools Programme targeted at Year 7 and 8 young people (age 11-13) across East London.

Main Duties:

• Deliver fun and engaging Outrunners sessions at our partner schools to young people aged 11-13, alongside PE teachers. 

• Manage relationships with partner teachers and SLT at our partner schools.

• Work with the Youth Programme Manager and other Youth Practitioners to design and deliver holistic movement programmes with a focus on running, targeted at 8-18 year olds. 

• Ensure safeguarding procedures are upheld for all young people. 

• Undertake administration tasks such as ensuring evaluation forms are completed, uploading data to our CRM system and planning sessions.

• Complete any other business required by management and pitch in to help with other tasks at busy times during the year.

This job is for you if: 

• You have experience of working with young people and their families 

• You have experience delivering youth programmes targeted at young people with proven successful outputs

• You have relevant youth work experience or a relatable youth work qualification (please note - a youth work qualification is only a desirable criteria) 

• You can develop strong working relationships with colleagues and teachers within schools

• You have a working understanding of safeguarding children and young people and how to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
