Job description

Barnardo's is looking for a data analyst with good Power BI skills and a passion for the charity sector to join our Analytics team in Digital, Data and Technology. The Analytics team is a central function providing insight, information and data to the whole charity in all functional areas. This includes interactive reports, ad-hoc pieces of analysis and consultation on other teams' analytical work. We use Power BI, traditional statistical techniques, economic theory and advanced data science models to influence decisions both internally and in the wider sector.

Working as a Data Analyst here would give you the opportunity to help us achieve Barnardo's mission by exercising responsible stewardship over our analytical output and enabling our colleagues to make well-informed decisions. You will:

  • Develop our existing Power BI suite to better serve the needs of our stakeholders.
  • Conduct and advise on pieces of analysis in all domains.
  • Present and communicate results to stakeholders, taking their feedback on board.
  • Identify new and innovative ways of analysing data and presenting results to improve the team's capability and output.

Who we're looking for:

  • Minimum 1 year of Power BI experience. In particular, experience writing measures and calculated columns, and working with semantic models.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in analytical roles.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities either from experience or higher education.
  • Great communication, written and verbal, with stakeholders at all levels of seniority and technical expertise.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Someone passionate about Barnardo's mission.
  • Desirable: someone who has worked with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Desirable: experience with programming languages (e.g. Python, R, SQL).
