The role

We are currently looking to recruit a Group Financial Controller - an exciting opportunity to provide strategic financial leadership across the Soil Association Group, comprising both charities and commercial companies, including a new digital start-up, all working to transform the way we eat, farm and care for our natural world.

As an experienced finance professional you will lead the Group's financial planning and accounting and provide high level analysis and advice to trustees and leadership teams.

The role heads up the Group finance function, a respected and motivated team, and works collaboratively across the Group supporting income generation and financial management.

We are in the process of updating our financial processes and systems and we are looking for someone to continue the journey to improve our efficiency, provide better data analysis and improve internal controls.

As a member of the Executive team you will also contribute to the strategic direction and sustainability of the organisation whilst ensuring its vision and core values are upheld.

About you

You will:

• Be a qualified accountant with experience of leading a finance function in a complex organisation and have significant post qualification experience working in the not for profit sector ideally in a charity and a solid understanding of the Charity SORP .
• Be a strong leader able to communicate well with your peers and team members and have resilience to adapt quickly to changing priorities and demands from internal and external stakeholders. Experience of transforming finance systems and processes is also highly desirable.

• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrable experience of leading and engaging with finance and other corporate functions to develop a mature and rounded service. You will demand high standards, whilst being an empathetic and supportive manager who works collaboratively with people of all levels
• Be financially and politically aware, bringing a high level of knowledge on the delivery of good financial control and financial governance ensuring that an effective service is delivered.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Fundraising Management

• Work with senior staff to develop and deliver The Florrie’s fundraising strategy, aligned with organisational priorities.

• Set and monitor income targets across grants, sponsorships, and events, reporting regularly to leadership and the board.

• Collaborate with the Finance Team to track income, manage funding pipelines, and address shortfalls.

Main Responsibilities:

The Operations Officer will lead the development of a new licence-based partnership opportunity, which will support the DofE’s engagement of NGBs. This role will also support the engagement of NGBs as partners across the UK. This work contributes to the DofE’s commitment to improve access to meaningful activities for young people doing their DofE.

Whilst delivering this project, you will work alongside 4 other Operations Officers within the AAP team, who each manage a varied portfolio of AAPs for each Section of the DofE Award. You will also work closely with a Project Manager within the Strategic Programmes team to deliver this project. The role will be field-based, and applicants will work from home most of the time. This role will involve some travel to attend field-based meetings when necessary.

The stewardship of our donors and supporters is fundamental to the success of our fundraising here at Rose Road. This role will play a vital part in growing our income streams. You will work with our individual, community and corporate donors in order to maximise the potential of all opportunities.

We are looking for an excellent relationship builder. You will lead on the delivery of our donor stewardship across all income streams ensuring you work to inspire and motivate our supporters by telling our story passionately.

About You

They are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic data insights manager to help us make the most of our existing data across their organisation, alongside developing new innovations to improve understanding of our supporters, their contribution to nature’s recovery and the values that the public place on nature.

They are looking for a skilled data specialist to help us to draw together and take forward their data insights work across their organisation. Working directly to the Director for Climate Change and Evidence, the postholder will lead on and manage our existing large-scale data insights projects, including the Great Big Nature Survey (the largest UK-wide survey of nature values); oversee their analysis of internal data collected across the organisation; and undertake data analysis of their external impact, from brand awareness to their major public engagement programmes such as 30 Days’ Wild. In addition, the postholder will lead a new programme of work on how to better understand their impact, and support the coordination of data activities across relevant teams.
