We run 2 long standing projects, Rare Disease UK and SWAN UK (syndromes without a name).

We are seeking to complement the skills of our senior team by recruiting a Chief Executive with expertise in business development and income generation, governance, strategic delivery, impact measurement, operational management, business planning and financial management. YES offers  its support to all young people between the ages of 11 -25 across North East Essex.

The ideal candidate will:

· Be a strategic, inspirational leader and team player, with experience of successfully managing and communicating organisational development

· Demonstrate senior management experience, preferably at Director / Chief Executive level

· Have previously worked in the third/ voluntary sector, preferably in the field of working with young people

· Have achieved success in developing and delivering effective, high impact services

· Have a proven track record of securing funding through a range of activities

· Have knowledge of charitable governance and experience of working closely with Trustees

Education and Qualifications

Degree level or equivalent.

Salary range: £47,000 to £52,000 per year FTE

Hours: 28 hours per week over four days

The Head of Counselling has overall responsibility for the smooth running of the clinical services, the recruitment of suitable counsellors, supervisors, and Strides HCC team to ensure the maintenance of high standards of service delivery. 

The role is an integral part of Strides, working with the CEO and other Heads of services to support the continuous development and delivery of services in line with Strides’ strategy. 

The main purpose of the role is to provide effective management and leadership of Strides HCC. The role focuses on the strategic development of the project, the financial management and financial sustainability of its operations, and the overseeing of all aspects of the clinical service delivery and clinical governance. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• To be accountable for all aspects of clinical governance in the service, reporting back to the CEO as required.

• Organise and chair the steering group meetings, review minutes and report back on actions and progress.

• Responsible for ensuring service(s) meet contractual, funding and legal obligations as applicable.

• Conduct regular management / quality audits and provide management reports on performance.

• Contribute to organisational policy and procedure development.

• Produce and revise service-specific policies, and oversee their implementation across the HCC service.

• Accountable for ensuring robust information management is in place; supporting the continuous Strides' information management systems and utilising management information reporting to assist management oversight of performance and to inform service developments.

• Alongside facilities management and service manager to proactively ensure that all key elements of effective health 

STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

• Develop and embed deliverable annual plans for each service. Work with and support the other Heads of services      and safety management are in place for all services, including delegating specific duties as appropriate in each service and the SLT in promoting the work of Strides.

• To sustain existing and develop new business for HCC by raising the profile of HCC and by identifying, engaging,      and  building relationships with new clients and other mental health services.

• Develop professional networks and partnerships with a range of key stakeholders to aid service development.

• Anticipate and develop strategies to resolve service challenges or risks involving appropriate colleagues.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

• To set an annual operational budget for each service in conjunction with service managers, finance team and senior  management.

• Act as budget holder for designated area, responsible for monitoring and controlling assigned budget, taking              corrective action where appropriate, and reporting as required.

• Work with service managers to ensure all financial and administrative processes are delivered to a high standard      within policies and procedures.

• To identify possible sources of income, working with fundraising colleagues on sourcing funding for service                development.

SAFEGUARDING

• Be responsible and accountable for ensuring HCC fully embeds excellent safeguarding practice and are fully aware  of organisational safeguarding policies and procedures.

• Act as key source of support, advice, and expertise for safeguarding for the service.

• Together with the Clinical Manager act as points of contact for counsellors and supervisors in case of urgent clinical  questions/issues. 

PEOPLE LEADERSHIP

• Create clear vision and objectives for service(s) under your leadership; empowering, motivating people to be fully      engaged and participate in the work and provide high standard clinical service.

• Through line management responsibilities, develop accountable service managers with clear expectations and          objectives, ensuring learning needs are assessed and met.

• To have regular, clear communication with direct reports and facilitate a ‘feedback loop’ to ensure your teams are fully  informed of organisational decision making and updates and team members are provided mechanisms to feed into organisational developments. 

• To ensure that staff operate at the level of competency specified for their posts; to coach, support and develop staff to enhance their levels of competency and to take effective steps to address underperformance.

• To work with service managers and HR team to ensure the best possible management of team members, ensuring    all matters are managed in line with Strides policies and procedures.

• Line manage the Service Manager and the Clinical Manager, and the Clinical Supervisors.

• Monitor and support the work of Supervisors & organise and chair quarterly supervisors’ meetings.

• Together with the Clinical Manager, organise an annual seminar program for HCC Counsellors and Assessors.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• To contribute to Strides’ overall strategy and business plan.

• To work collaboratively and contribute to positive working relationships with team colleagues, wider Strides                colleagues and volunteers and to participate in reflective practice.

Joe’s Buddy Line is seeking a new organisational leader; a hands-on Chief Officer who can build on the great work already undertaken by our Trustees to deliver high impact mental health support services to schools and Universities; currently in London and the South East, but with ambitions to grow across England and Wales.

Joe Lyons was a caring son, brother, a wonderful friend and a talented, award-winning Radio Producer. Known as “Producer Joe”, he became Senior Producer of the Roman Kemp Breakfast Show at Capital Radio. Very sadly in August 2020 Joe passed away in totally unexpected circumstances at just 31 years of age.

During Joe’s life he brought a cheeky spirit and constant laughter to all those that met him. His selflessness and commitment to helping others touched so many, and in loving memory and as a legacy to Joe, his friends and family set up Joe's Buddy Line in January 2021.

As Finance & Operations Administrator you will have a key role to play working closely with the trustees and Head of Fundraising & Communications to co-ordinate activities,  to ensure day to day operations in the UK run smoothly.  

The role as advertised covers a broad range of activities. However there will be peaks and troughs of workload. 

This job is for you if you are:

-  A qualified accountant or bookkeeper with experience of Xero ideal (training can be provided).

- Confident working with Microsoft Office (Excel & Word) & Shared drive (eg, GoogleDocs).

- Comfortable working with a variety of IT packages, or learning how to do so 

- Very organised, able to take the initiative, able to work independently.

In a typical month you’ll:

-  Support the Chair of Finance; preparing monthly accounts. Processing receipts and payments for bank reconciliation; invoices and expense claims.   Filing finance documentation. Maintian the restricted v unrestricted donation records, Gift Aid schedules, HMRC returns.

-  Support  the Head of Fund Raising and Communications, liaising with donors (sending receipts, requests for information), researching potential donors, preparing grant applications, ordering brochures and marketing information. Acting as a day to day point of contact. 

- Support the Chair and Vice Chair of Trustees;  helping to prepare and distribute monthly meeting agendas, supporting papers, co-ordinating virtual meeting schedule, drafting and distributing minutes, .- 

-  Support the Chair of Governance ensuring Trustee and Staff Handbooks (policies and protocols), risk register, are uptodate and accessible via the website portal. Lead the administration process for the recruitment of trustees and staff, including the preparation of candidate packs, advertising, induction. Oversight of the EFA Partnership Agreements.

- Support the Chair of Educaton re liaison with relevant external auditors (safeguarding, health and safety, risk). Linking with Moroccan partners to agree on timing and arrangements for audit visits. Ensuring reports are available to trustees as agreed. 

- General ad hoc support to trustees, staff and external stakeholders as required.

Job Purpose
Your legacy will be a tangible impact on slowing down climate change and helping nature recover by overseeing and leading on income generation and financial sustainability. You will join a fast-growing organisation that started in 2019 with four volunteers and has grown to a staff team of fifteen (which will nearly double over 2024), over 1,000 volunteers and ownership of 600 acres of land that will grow woodlands of over 160,000 trees.

We are looking for a positive people-person with commercial development experience, financial acumen and the ambition to help take Avon Needs Trees (ANT) to our next level of impact, as we prepare for exponential growth over the next year. Your work will ensure the short- and long-term sustainability of ANT, enabling us to keep delivering impact for decades to come. You will secure ANT financially and drive forward innovative new commercial opportunities, helping to deliver on our goals to plant hundreds of thousands of trees and complementary habitats. Immediate commercial opportunities include natural capital sales, ethical investing, business model development for Landscape Recovery in the Lower Chew and development of ANT’s ecotourism trading arm.

As a fast-growing, high impact charity all of our roles have direct operational responsibilities in addition to managing teams and thinking strategically and with vision.

Main responsibilities
● Lead on ANT’s overall commercial development strategy to ensure long term financial viability and sustainability of the charity
● Pioneer the development and implementation of a new Commercial Trading Arm for ANT to support and accelerate ANT’s charitable impact
● Champion and drive forward new sources of income for ANT including natural capital development, ethical investments and ecotourism development
● Direct the development of business models and natural capital finance models and plans to support Landscape Recovery across thousands of acres of land in the Lower Chew
● Identify, seize and support new income, funding and fundraising opportunities, and help guide ANT through a period of business and transformation and growth
● Line-manage and oversee the work of our finance and natural capital staff, and ultimately trading body staff, to ensure our people are well-supported and our work is impactful
● Direct operational responsibilities to advance our work at pace
● Work with the Chief Executive and other Heads on organisational strategy, finance and organisational sustainability
● Work with the Chief Executive to ensure trustees have appropriate information and understanding of our finances and commercial strategy
● Oversee the production of high quality internal reports, annual accounts, and reports for funders
● Lead on the development and implementation of ANT’s finance and commercial strategy
including:
○ Forecasting models
○ Ensuring all accounting activities comply with regulations and our governed by
robust and appropriate policies
○ Cost saving opportunities
● Ensure compliance with laws and regulations in agreed areas of responsibility
● Identify and implement opportunities for ANT to continually improve, using your
influencing skills to create opportunities
● As with all Avon Needs Trees roles, contributing to grant writing and fundraising activities
● Other duties and opportunities as required

Job title: Business Accountability Officer

Location: FLEX office, Vauxhall, London - Flexible hybrid working with a mixture of in person and home/office working.

Salary: £32,020 per annum, pro rata, subject to deductions for tax and national insurance contributions as required by law.

Hours: Part time, 4 days, equivalent to 30 hours per week. This may be flexible.

Contract: 12 Months, fixed term (with possibilities of extension subject to funding)

About FLEX:

Focus on Labour Exploitation (FLEX) is an organisation working towards an end to labour exploitation by addressing the systems and structures that make workers vulnerable to abuse. FLEX seeks to achieve this vision through the prevention of labour abuses, protection of the rights of those affected or at risk of exploitation and by promoting best practice responses to labour exploitation through research and evidence-based advocacy.

About the role:

FLEX is looking for someone with a passion for improving working conditions in service sectors, such as cleaning. In this role, you will support the development of more sustainable corporate responses through the development of a worker-informed human rights due diligence programme for businesses that contract cleaning services. Drawing on a 2-year pilot where we developed a worker-informed human rights due diligence framework, this work involves a strong worker-engagement element.

Above all this role requires someone with real passion and commitment for FLEX’s work to end labour exploitation and an excitement for ensuring workers are at the centre and actively involved in shaping solutions that work for them. You will be working in a dynamic team developing this programme, so this role will require flexibility and ability to adapt.

Key responsibilities:

Project Delivery 

• Planning, delivering and evaluating worker engagement activities, in line with FLEX’s strategy, safeguarding protocols and approach, ensuring the workers views inform all project outputs, including reports.
• Supporting the development, maintenance, and implementation of robust safeguarding protocols for worker engagement.
• Drafting relevant project outputs, including resources for workers, company reports and other outputs for external communication.
• Collecting data and documentation and supporting assessments and critical reviews of business policies, practices, engaging with participating companies (desk-based, interviews and surveys), as relevant.
• Developing actionable recommendations to support companies to improve their policies and practices.
• Organising regular partnership meetings, preparing and sending out meeting packs, scheduling meetings, facilitating members’ effective participation, and taking minutes.
• Maintaining FLEX’s worker-informed tools, including human rights assessment toolkit in line with international standards and UK law that incorporates issues identified by workers at risk of exploitation.
• Keeping abreast of worker-driven corporate responsibility initiatives focusing on cleaning to inform the pilot design.
• Developing a roadmap with clear referral pathways for businesses identifying labour abuses and potential victims of labour exploitation.
• Delivering activities within budget and liaising with consultants and/or independent contractors;
• Developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation plans, producing progress and learning reports for internal and external purposes.
• Extracting learnings from experience to inform FLEX’s methodologies for meaningful worker engagement.

Policy and advocacy

• Represent FLEX and networks at external meetings, as required.
• Keeping abreast of the wider relevant policy and legislative context and identifying relevant advocacy intervention opportunities.
• Supporting internal comms and coordination across teams.

Other

• Help maintain a regular social media presence for FLEX;
• Scope, draft and support fundraising bids relevant to this role;
• Undertake any other relevant duties as required.

Key Responsibilities

National Growth

• Develop strategy for national growth and ensure effective delivery of strategy, with a focus on growing our work in unserved and developing regions of the UK and building a diverse range of church partners
• Engage with thinking around the intersection between social impact, employability and the church to ensure we are at the cutting edge within the sector, developing an understanding of local needs and challenges and how Resurgo can best inspire and equip partners to catalyse sustainable and impactful social change.
• Work with wider leadership team to understand and fine tune barriers to growth, including considering recruitment and operations support needed by partner churches, and funding avenues and the operation of the seed fund, which provides start-up funding to churches in the early years of launching a Spear centre.

Pipeline Development

• Identify, build, and develop relationships with potential partners through networking at Christian conferences and running our own events, identifying and introducing our work to key networks, and offering relevant coaching sessions as a means for churches to understand Resurgo’s coaching, employability and impact management.
• Introduce potential and existing partner churches to the Spear programme as a means of creating sustainable social impact in their community, particularly with young people, and provide opportunities for them to engage with the programme with a view to considering launching a centre in their own community where this is a good fit.
• Build a pipeline of potential Spear partners, and steward these relationships from the point of introduction, through to confirmation of programme launch, reporting to the Senior Leadership team against monthly KPIs and annual growth targets.
• Work closely with the Impact team and Director of External Relations to consider the ‘client’ journey of a church from point of initial interest to uptake of one of our programmes

New Centre Set-up and Implementation

• Oversee a team who project manage the launch of new Spear centres in partnership with local churches, including overseeing all
  practical and operational aspects of the centre setup, recruiting new coaches, and ensuring required policies and systems
  are in place.

Join Dementia Friendly Keighley (DFK) as Chief Executive.

As a dynamic Chief Executive you’ll support us through an exciting new stage in our development and will feel confident in strategically shaping, managing and delivering the business plan of the organisation.

About The Role

Leading on project delivery, monitoring and outreach projects, you will also ensure the DFK information centre is supported to continue running successfully. You will be comfortable turning your hand to all aspects of running a small organisation, and leading it to excel. This will include:

• Outreach work to raise awareness of dementia across the diverse Keighley community

• Ensuring delivery against the requirements of our current funders, collating and providing the evidence for this

• Actively seeking and securing further funding streams

• Growing the services we offer

• Overseeing our centre and a small team of staff and volunteers

• Becoming a Dementia Champion

This is an interesting and varied role which will suit someone who enjoys being involved in the day to day, whilst also contributing to the strategic aims and success of the organisation.

As we are entering a new phase, the trustees are seeking this new role to support them to focus on governance rather than management. You will have the opportunity therefore to shape this role within the parameters set by our Mission, Vision and the funders we have.

The organisation has a high public presence in the community and is much respected so you will be expected to be comfortable as an ambassador and demonstrate a passion and commitment to what we do and stand for. 

About You 

You will have a passion for working with people living with dementia and feel enthused by the positive, empowering ethos at DFK. 

You will have a personal/professional understanding of dementia and how it impacts on all  aspects of life for people living with dementia, those caring for them, and their family  and friends. 

You will have a track record as a successful senior leader in a charitable organisation of a comparable size or equivalent managerial or director experience.

You will be confident in public speaking and have excellent communication skills, being able to convey a message with impact to engender trust, and be comfortable communicating with senior stakeholders, staff, volunteers and funders.

You will have experience working with external funders, understanding the importance of delivering a project as agreed, as well as  being comfortable with completing the monitoring and reporting aspects.

You will live in, or have close connections to, the local area where we work.

You will be an effective team leader, understanding how to bring the best out in people, and adapting your leadership style to engender excellent working relationships.
