The Digital Communications Officer reports to the Digital Communications Manager. The post holder plays a key supporting role in communicating the work of the Trust – including its research, policy priorities, programmes, and alumni stories – to external audiences. This is a newly created role, introduced to expand our digital communications capacity and significantly grow our digital presence.
The Digital Communications Officer will work alongside the Digital Communications Manager to create, coordinate and maintain our digital output. They will need to have flexible skills across both web and social, and a strong ability to create eye-catching visuals and produce high-quality video content. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and proactive individual to create engaging content, ramp up production of cross-platform video content, and introduce new digital innovations as the Trust seeks to explore new avenues to grow its reach.
Main duties
Social Media

Take a lead on content creation for the Trust’s social media, writing crisp copy and creating engaging visuals suitable for a range of audiences across LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

Co-lead on the production of cross-platform video content, with a particular focus on TikTok and Instagram. Work with the Digital Communications Manager, Senior Programmes Officer: Marketing and Communications, and other colleagues to generate content ideas relevant to the Trust’s key areas of activity. Take an active, hands-on role in the planning, filming, and editing of innovative video content.

Support with the day-to-day management of various socials platforms, including monitoring user engagement and answering inbox queries.

Alongside the Digital Communications Manager, liaise with research colleagues to convert research outputs into engaging socials content, and work with colleagues in the programmes team to create impactful socials content promoting their work.

Monitor social media engagement and activity more broadly, ensuring team members are aware of key developments and identifying examples of best practice in the sector.

Advise and support all colleagues as necessary with their use of social media.
Website and Digital Communications

Support with the management of the Sutton Trust website, and associated microsites, and the COSMO website, ensuring they are updated and remain responsive to the needs of our different audiences of students, teachers, policymakers, academics, funders and media.

Work with external web developers to drive forward improvements to the Trust’s websites, ensuring quality user experience and SEO optimisation.

Use Google Analytics and other monitoring tools to evaluate website performance and inform improvements. Work with a digital agency to manage the Trust’s Google Ads Grant Account and shape our approach to paid search advertising.

Support with the maintenance of a proactive and diverse programme of blog content, helping to identify potential pieces from internal and external authors.

Develop the Trust’s regular email newsletter, including drafting high quality content.

Support with the formatting of research outputs and the design of other digital assets (such as charts), including those related to the COSMO Study.

Person Specification
We welcome applications from individuals who have:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

A strong understanding of using Canva (as well as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and/or Adobe Illustrator) to design engaging and creative graphics for social media.

Experience of creating cross-platform video content for social media (experience producing vertical video for TikTok and/or Instagram is particularly desirable). Basic videography, photography and editing skills would be advantageous.

Context and Background
The NSPCC relies on voluntary income for the majority of its work to keep children safe, prevent abuse and ensure every child has a voice. To secure long-term sustainability, the charity has reshaped how it engages supporters through the Engagement and Fundraising Directorate.
Within this, the Philanthropy and Partnerships Department brings together high-value audiences and supporter-led income. The Volunteer Board Fundraising team leads income generation through regional and national volunteer boards, volunteer-led fundraising initiatives and delivery of special events through our high value event committees. These activities play a vital role in maximising sustainable income, engaging senior volunteers, and supporting long-term supporter relationships.
The volunteer boards are made up of influential and successful senior stakeholders who feel passionately about the NSPCC and volunteer their time to help the NSPCC generate income and awareness. They employ a range of fundraising techniques to reach their goals – their focus being to use their networks and influence to secure income generating opportunities via events, corporate partnerships and major gifts from individuals.
The team works closely with colleagues in Philanthropy and Partnerships (corporate partnerships, major gifts, trusts and statutory), Public Engagement (marketing, brand, digital), and Fundraising Operations (data, compliance, finance, procurement) to ensure volunteer fundraising is integrated into supporter journeys, delivers excellent experiences, and achieves strong ROI.
With the support of a Fundraising Manager, the role of the Fundraiser is to cultivate and steward key relationships and deliver special projects across the volunteer boards and their network to deliver against annual income plans.
Job purpose

Budgeting, Finance and Evaluation

Person specification
1. Experience of building effective relationships through face to face interactions with existing and new high-level individuals and/or organisations, leading to securing fundraising income via long-term partnerships.
2. Commercially minded; ability to apply commercial knowledge and understanding to fundraising partnerships ensuring that NSPCC activity has a competitive edge in the market place. NSPCC fundraising activity must be appealing and commercially viable.
3. Exceptional project management skills; ability to see a project through from start to finish, reaching a desired income target. Must have meticulous planning skills and show great attention to detail. Must be self-motivated and highly proactive.
4. Target driven with proven financial management and reporting skills, including accurate budgeting and contingency planning. A track record of achieving financial and departmental objectives.
5. Knowledge of corporate social responsibility and individual philanthropic motivations and current trends in high value and corporate fundraising across the UK.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to deliver fundraising pitches, ideas and project updates to a range of audiences in a clear, inspiring and confident way.

Community Rail Network is a national not-for-profit organisation supporting a growing ‘community rail’ movement, which helps communities get the most from their railways, promotes sustainable and inclusive travel, coordinates volunteering and place-making, and brings people together.
Community rail is made up of 76 community-based partnership organisations, and c.1,300 station friends volunteer groups and other community-led initiatives around Britain. Their activities range from creative projects for young people, to advising train operators on service improvements, to building travel confidence among marginalised groups, to biodiversity projects at stations, to promoting greener tourism by rail.

About this role
This role is crucial for us, our members and their communities, especially at the current time, with our need to seize on the opportunities of rail reform and devolution, promote wider use of sustainable transport, and bring communities together. You will spearhead our external affairs strategy and plans, building political relationships, influencing decision-making and raising awareness of community rail and its insights, while ensuring effective communications with our members and helping them to have a voice locally and regionally. You’ll be striving to put community rail at the forefront of a shift towards more inclusive and sustainable mobility.
As a member of our senior leadership team, reporting to and working closely with our chief executive, you will manage a passionate team of four, ensuring collaboration with our other teams, partners and funders, and drawing on members’ insights.

Purpose

The successful Fundraising Co-ordinator will grow individual donations, build new relationships with potential funders, and identify and secure new grant funding in a shrinking funding landscape.
You will identify and prioritise efforts across crowdfunding, individual giving, grant applications, match-funding, legacies, and other tactics, and be responsible for our fundraising budget and administration.
You will research the potential for other fundraising approaches and, with New Internationalist colleagues, agree on the strategic direction for this, identify key opportunities, align them with external funders, and prepare strong funding applications. You will be proactive in developing new funding contacts for New Internationalist and maintaining relationships with funders and supporters.

Job Profile

The post holder will contribute to ensuring the Supporter Donations Team (SDT) manage and administer supporter donation activity on behalf of CAFOD, providing a high level of supporter care while delivering within agreed service levels and Key Performance Indicators. SDT has the overall responsibility for managing and thanking all supporter donations to CAFOD made through a variety of channels and schemes. SDT works within the Finance and infrastructure group, liaises across all teams in CAFOD, and external service providers to ensure donations are processed within agreed service levels and quality standards. Due to the nature of SDT’s role, SDT has particularly close ties to CAFOD Fundraising activities and actively engages in our fundraising programmes and schemes.
Key Responsibilities
Supporter Care:
- Handle telephone, email and postal enquiries from supporters; identifying and resolving queries in a prompt, warm and sensitive way.
- Provide phone cover to the Supporter Care team as required.
- Provide reception cover to the Supporter Care team as required.
Donations:
- Accurately code donations received, ensuring agreed departmental procedures are followed.
- Process, set up and administer instructions and payments through a variety of donations channels and schemes such as Online, Direct Debit, standing orders, BACs, Payroll giving schemes and online giving platforms.
- Input and maintain data on CAFOD’s supporter database, ensuring high degrees of accuracy on our donor records.
- File and archive financial data, while adhering to strict audit controls.
Gift Aid:
- Understand Gift Aid and its application within CAFOD.
- Assist with all aspects of tax effective giving, in accordance with agreed procedures and priorities, including preparation of regular tax claims for submission to HMRC.
Thanking:
- Produce and dispatch letters to thank and acknowledge donations received.
- Write bespoke letters of thanks to supporters to respond to exceptional donations and provide a personal touch.
- Contribute to ongoing enhancement and improvement of supporter thanking
Post/banking:
- Assist with all incoming and outgoing postal duties held by SDT to maximise effectiveness of processes and delivery of key service levels.
- Preparation of daily banking, cash handling and initial reconciliation of all monies received daily.
All SDT staff are expected to:
- Attend and contribute to regular team, section, divisional and CAFOD-wide meetings and briefings.
- Work as a supportive member of the team, providing cover for and training of the section staff and volunteers as required.
- Participate in training and other activities as requested by the line manager
- Assist with the rapid set up of projects and work packages in response to major emergency and disaster appeals.
- Rotate through all key tasks within the team / section.

Fundraising Officer

We are seeking a well-organised and personable Fundraising Officer with excellent communication skills to develop supporter relationships through phone and written communications. You'll help increase the impact of appeals, the welcome journey, regular giving programmes, and general fundraising projects. Working closely with the Fundraising and Impact Manager, you'll steward high-level donors, complete monthly Joy Bringer campaign calls, deliver direct marketing campaigns, and maintain accurate supporter records.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Computer literacy e.g. MS Office 365, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Confidence speaking directly to supporters by telephone/face to face and reflecting personal Christian beliefs

About the role
We’re looking for a Individual Giving Officer with Individual Giving or project management experience to join our Individual Giving, Legacies and E-commerce Team.
Working within the Individual Giving, Legacies and E-commerce Team, you’ll have a varied role managing and supporting the delivery of fundraising appeals which will recruit, retain and develop supporters across our acquisition and retention programmes. These appeals will include utilising online and offline channels such as direct mail, organic and paid social advertising, email, face-to-face fundraising, Payroll Giving and telemarketing.
This role would suit someone with some experience of marketing or fundraising or who would like to expand their experience of Individual Giving.

The Role
The team are looking for a Corporate Fundraising & Engagement Officer to play a key role in delivering their ambitious corporate strategy.
