The Trusts and Foundations Manager will play a vital role in supporting New Horizon Youth Centre’s mission by managing and growing a portfolio of valued trusts, foundations and statutory supporters. Last year, the organisation raised £4.5million, with £1.7million secured from trusts and foundations and £1.8million from statutory funders. In this role, you will focus on deepening relationships to secure meaningful, long-term support for our vital work with young people facing homelessness.

Core responsibilities within your role will be to:

• Work with the Head of Policy and Public Affairs to set up a new press office function for AdviceUK.
• Shape proactive, impactful media plans as well as responding to reactive media inquiries.
• Manage relationships with journalists and craft attractive copy for press releases and a range of other communications purposes.
• Support team members to identify media and communications opportunities related to their work.
• Brief and thoroughly prepare senior staff and AdviceUK members for appearances in broadcast media.

The purpose of this role is to support the policy and public affairs team to raise awareness of AdviceUK, their campaigns and the work of their members through the media. You will be a fast learner, who can pick up new topics and issues with ease, and you'll be data-focused, able to use robust evidence to support press comments.

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, we support babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions.  Our aim is to reach every family that needs our help and to offer them the very best choice of care. Every year we need to raise £6.7m to keep our doors open and only around 17% of our income comes from government sources, the rest must be raised through fundraising activity. Our uncompromisable support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family and include overnight care, music therapy, counselling, sibling support groups, end of life care and home visits.  
 
We support families from a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. JOB TITLE: Public Affairs Manager

REPORTS TO: Head of Social Impact

JOB PURPOSE: The Public Affairs Manager will manage the implementation of ParalympicsGB’s policy & public affairs strategy, including managing a targeted contact programme with politicians, civil servants and stakeholder organisations. The role will also play a key role in supporting the organisation’s approach to influencing public policy in sport, disability and education and deliver Games’ time guest programmes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement

• Manage the implementation of the public affairs strategy, with support from the Head of Social Impact and Director of Communications & Social Impact, reporting back to the Senior Leadership Group on the outcomes achieved.
• Work with the CEO, Director of Communications & Social Impact and Head of Social Impact to implement a stakeholder engagement plan building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholder such as politicians, Government departments, ParalympicsGB’s members, sport and disability organisations, and the education sector.
• Coordinate ParalympicsGB colleagues to execute a contact programme with relevant stakeholders including Government Ministers, MPs and Peers, Civil Servants and Stakeholder organisations from ParalympicsGB’s membership and the wider sport, education and disability sectors.
• Monitor and analyse upcoming relevant policy and legislative developments and activities and identify opportunities for influence including drafting responses to parliamentary, government and other consultations.
• Represent ParalympicsGB externally to raise awareness and strengthen our reputation with key policy makers, decision-makers, and relevant public affairs networks. Reporting back to colleagues on the content of meetings and arranging follow-ups as appropriate.
• Prepare high-quality briefing materials for political audiences and senior internal stakeholders to support influencing priorities.
• Organise and support delivery of a series of Westminster based events and activations to support our Public Affairs strategy, including events to raise awareness of ParalympicsGB’s relevant social impact programmes e.g. Equal Play and Community Sport initiatives.
• Contribute to stakeholder engagement around the promotion of Stoke Mandeville as the birthplace of the Paralympic Movement.
• Administer the Paralympic Games guest programme for Government Ministers, Royal Patron and key stakeholders linked to social impact and international relations.

Policy

• Lead the coordination of ParalympicsGB responses to relevant Government consultations and other stakeholder responses.
• Lead the research, manage consultation with key stakeholders, and draft policy papers with regards development of ParalympicsGB’s policy papers in line with the social impact strategy, particularly around education (Equal Play), community sport, and disability.

Social Impact

• Work with the Social Impact team on communicating public affairs opportunities to our athletes (as part of the ParalympicsGB Athlete Community) and connecting social impact programmes to political opportunities.

Correspondence, Planning and Databases

• Draft correspondence with key contacts on behalf of the organisation.
• Develop and manage parliamentary and stakeholder contact management database.
• Provide administrative support to the Communications team as required.

• Experience with grant management, including financial administration, claims processing, and reporting in relation to large-scale funding programmes.

Working closely with the Digital Fundraising Manager on digital fundraising appeals, delivery, reporting, budgets, and campaigns this role is responsible for supporting and contributing to the Digital team in delivery of the digital priorities for the charity, across fundraising, communications and campaigns.

About you

The ideal candidate will have experience in working in the charity sector on digital appeals and campaign delivery across digital fundraising and communications channels. A mix of digital content creation, analytics, scheduling and delivery skills are essential for this role. Paid digital advertising experience would be advantageous.

As a Dementia Adviser, you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide support, information, and guidance to people with dementia and their carers; helping to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives.
The service is unique to each service user as it is based upon their personal circumstances and support needs. You will offer support to your clients in a variety of ways, whether in the client's own home, or at other locations in the community, face to face, by phone, letter, or email. You will also assist service users to access other services, providing signposting and referrals.
Your role as a Dementia Adviser will include:

- Supporting people affected by dementia, families and carers to access vital services.
- Improving people’s sense of well-being, enabling them to have more control over their lives.
- Assisting with the identification of needs, providing information and access to relevant services.
- Promoting our amazing Dementia Advice service and building relationships with a range of health and social care professionals.

About you

- Ability and interest in supporting people to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and help them take more control of their lives.
- Understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers would be an advantage but if you have had experience supporting with other diagnosis or support requirements this would be taken into consideration.
- Experience with communicating with a wide range of people, adapting your approach to ensure understanding at all levels.

Summary

Introduction

Working within the Central Secretariat, the Safeguarding Structures Programme Director will lead a programme team to implement the new independent structures for the Church of England's safeguarding function.

About the Department

The Central Secretariat provides support to many of the governance bodies of the Church of England, including the General Synod, House of Bishops, Archbishops' Council and others. It also provides policy analysis and support on internal matters relating to the structure and governance of the Church of England.

What you'll be doing

The purpose of this role is to deliver the General Synod's motion of February 2025 to design, develop and deliver independent scrutiny of Church safeguarding and such operations as the Synod decides. It needs to do so in a way that brings stakeholders - victims and survivors, safeguarding staff across the Church, trustees and others - along with them, with a focus on delivering a system of safeguarding that commands greater confidence. And it needs to do so working through an executive chair and lead bishop.

You will lead a programme team that is in the process of being formed, and you'll report to the Director of the Central Secretariat, whilst also working through an Executive Chair (currently being recruited), the lead bishop for safeguarding and a Programme Board, and maintaining the confidence of the wider Church of England, including the General Synod, the House of Bishops and others.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the programme team to deliver an ambitious programme of policy development, legislation, restructure and new service development, being accountable for ensuring the programme meets objectives , delivers outcomes and realises benefits
• Support the Executive Chair and lead bishop to deliver the mandate of General Synod (February 2025) regarding the future of Church of England safeguarding - maintaining their confidence and engagement at all times, building a relationship of trust and collaboration.
• Lead the team to deliver the change:
• Design the change - agreeing the new models for scrutiny/complaints and operations
• Secure buy-in to the change - including from governance bodies, the General Synod, and other stakeholders
• Execute the change through a mixture of legislative, contractual and other arrangements; and
• Embed the change - through the communications, engagement, planning etc that will enable the programme to deliver the benefits
• Maintain excellent programme governance - both ensuring the programme is well-run, with appropriate internal governance (plans, resource management, risk management) and reports effectively to the Programme Board, and to governance bodies
• Develop excellent engagement with safeguarding staff and leaders across the Church
• Ensure that the proposals are designed from the user perspective - with a particular focus on victims, survivors and parish safeguarding officers
• Lead, support, encourage and manage, the programme team of approximately 6-8 people
• Develop key messaging and strategic engagement , overseeing internal and external engagement
• Equip and enable the lead bishop and Executive Chair to be effective senior sponsors and externally facing change champions, ensuring that they are fully briefed on all developments and properly supported prepared for their meetings.

About You

Along with a recognised Programme Management accreditation (e.g. APM, PMI, PRINCE2 or equivalent), you will also need to demonstrate:

• The ability to create the vision and a sense of the destination, and also to engage in the precise details of what needs to happen to deliver it;
• A track record of engaging with people who are impacted by substantial change;
• Ability and experience of working collaboratively with a programme team and wider stakeholders to achieve success
• Experience of working with senior stakeholders to deliver, and capacity to work with an Executive Chair and lead bishop or similar.

• A salary of 82,157 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any salary-sacrifice pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.

About the Role
This pivotal role will manage, and coordinate inspections and remedial works related to gas, electrical safety, water hygiene, asbestos, fire safety, and lifts. You’ll lead a small team and work closely with delivery partners, ensuring that all compliance activities are effectively scheduled, completed, and auditable in line with legislation and sector best practice.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering planned compliance work programmes and overseeing contractor performance.
• Leading statutory inspections and managing compliance records via property databases.
• Providing assurance that IDS meets the standards set by the Regulatory Framework for Social Housing and other regulatory bodies.
• Managing and developing a small team of Compliance Officers.
• Promoting a strong culture of safety, transparency, and continuous improvement.

About You
You’ll bring a strong background in property compliance, a working knowledge of building safety legislation, and the leadership skills to drive performance and improvement.

You will have:

• Proven experience in managing statutory M&E compliance in a housing or property context
• A relevant technical or compliance qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IWFM, HNC/HND in Building Services)
• Strong knowledge of H&S legislation, the Building Safety Act 2022, and CDM regulations
• Demonstrable success managing contractors and compliance systems
