Fowler’s Syndrome UK (Registered Charity number 1196903) is a unique patient and clinician led charity that works to raise awareness, promote education and encourage research into the debilitating bladder condition Fowler’s Syndrome. The condition solely affects women and Fowler’s Syndrome UK (FSUK) is the only charity in the world to directly support women with this condition.
Fowler’s syndrome is a life changing and currently almost untreatable condition, affecting up to 20,000 women in the UK. It causes full or partial urinary retention and solely affects women*, meaning they have problems passing urine due to a difficulty in relaxing the urinary sphincter. The peak age of onset is 26. It was first described by Professor Clare Fowler, Emeritus professor of Uro-Neurology at UCLh, and FSUK’s patron, in 1985.
We estimate that there are in excess of 20,000 women in the UK suffering from, but not necessarily diagnosed with, the condition, because of the lack of knowledge about Fowler’s Syndrome both from a patient and clinician perspective.
85% of women with Fowler’s Syndrome say the condition has had a severe or devastating impact on their life.
75% of those with FS have been told their urinary symptoms are due to anxiety or ‘all in their head’
There is low awareness of the condition among the medical community outside of specialist hospitals. Only an estimated 30% of GPs are aware of Fowler’s Syndrome. Once diagnosed, there are few resources available for patients and limited treatment options. Many women feel alone and unsupported.
Our mission is to provide resources, promote education and facilitate research into Fowler’s syndrome; so women with the condition have stigma free access to a timely diagnosis, suitable and effective treatment options, care and psychological support.

The Role: Administrator
The administrator’s role is to support the CEO in the daily management of the charity. This will include administration, delivering resources, comms including social media and website, outreach and events, fundraising and research. It will also include supporting the CEO and Patient Liaison with seminars and conferences, and support groups.
Administration: Support the CEO and the Finance and Governance lead with daily activities, including but not limited to grant applications, basic finance administration, project management, project delivery, database management, office management. Objective: Improve efficiency and quality of the charity’s management
Resources: Supporting the CEO and working to deliver first class resources. Working with the CEO and Patient Liaison to efficiently and effectively run the roll out of our resources, following the CEO’s guidelines and the charity’s mission and vision. This will include Healthcare professional (HCP) leaflets, Patient leaflets, a catheter support series, mental health support series, Pain management support from pharmacists and Physiotherapist led sessions. This will also include management of zoom and in person groups, dissemination of information on studies and surveys.
Comms: Manage the patient database including GDPR, manage newsletters, PR, website. Manage FSUK’s social media, with direction from the CEO. Daily posts plus responding to queries and signposting. Social media partnerships. Monthly email to database. Basic updates to website
Outreach and events: Drive awareness of FSUK in the local community and beyond Work with CEO to manage merchandising, registration, setup, logistics of events. Find, plan and represent FSUK at events. Manage yearly even calendar. Working with the CEO and administrator to plan, organise and run events, including transformative one-day seminar for healthcare professionals and a two-day seminar for FSUK users and clinicians.
Fundraising: Help the CEO and Patient liaison with fundraising, both on an individual and trust basis.
Community led research: Assist the CEO in creating patient led community research.
Research: Assist the CEO and work with the Patient Liaison in creating and conducting research. Including Patient perspectives input into consensus guidelines for non-surgical management, Dr. Ingrid Hoeritzauer, Patient experiences with sacral neuromodulation, Dr. Caroline Selai, Awareness of FS among UK urology community, Prof Jalesh Panicker via University Cambridge, Physiotherapy treatment experiences with FS and CIUR, Dr. Ingrid Hoeritzauer. Our research will help enable women to receive the support they need and fulfil their potential, offering quicker diagnosis and better treatments and enabling our community to thrive.
There may be occasions where staff are required to work out of hours or support at events, including wish related activities such as our annual wish family Christmas party or wish community events, cheering runners at the London marathon or working at our annual fundraising gala. The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation.

Purpose of Role:
Reporting to the Supporter Care Manager, you will deliver excellent customer care to supporters and potential supporters of Operation Smile UK. As an integral part of the Supporter Care team, you will successfully support the Individual Giving programme and wider fundraising activities, providing support to ever increasing income and supporter stewardship for the delivery of increasing levels of unrestricted income for Operation Smile UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be the first point of contact for existing supporters and new supporters who respond to our fundraising activities by phone, email, letter or in person, letter, or email delivering outstanding supporter care
- Liaise with supporters in timely communication via email, phone, and mail with excellent customer care
- Priority is to answer incoming phone calls and escalate any difficult situations/complaints to Supporter Care Manager
- Support processing incoming phone and postal donations
- Assist with banking and processing incoming/outgoing post
- Be responsible for thanking our supporters including by letter, email and phone, despatch of information and fundraising materials

- Assist with cancelling and amending all types of regular gifts and sending out appropriate letters

Skills and Experience Required:
Essential:

About the role:
The role of Homicide Caseworker is varied, demanding and rewarding; no two days are the same and you will thrive on this challenge. You will need to be extremely organised and able work independently and as well as being a pro-active, supportive member of a team open to developing your personal resilience.
You will work closely with the Major Crime Police Units, Senior Investigators and Family Liaison Officers, you will provide a pivotal role to support clients through the Criminal Justice System. You will provide support to families by phone and Zoom when their usual Homicide Caseworker is unavailable. You will complete needs assessments, and will coordinate and deliver a tailored package of support alongside our commissioned providers and other key stakeholders.
You will be driven to make a difference every day with the ability to focus on the needs of vulnerable service users. You will have resilience and adaptability; understand the importance of professional boundaries; have excellent listening skills and the ability to demonstrate empathy. You will enjoy the challenge of a busy caseload and will be able to demonstrate the excellent organisation skills essential to managing a demanding and diverse workload.
As a fully trained Homicide Family Caseworker you will be responsible for managing your own complex caseload to the highest quality standards. This role is part of our remote working team and so you will be home-based, however you will need to be able to travel to work meetings and to attend training as required.

Solace’s Immigration service provides high quality immigration advice to survivors of domestic abuse who have insecure immigration status. We are seeking a qualified and experienced OISC level 2/3 immigration advisor/solicitor to join our pan-London Immigration service in Camden.
As part of a team of legally trained advisors, you will be responsible for assisting women affected by domestic or sexual abuse with uncertain immigration status. Your role involves managing complex cases and collaborating closely with the team to provide comprehensive support to women as they rebuild their lives.
About You
You will have substantive experience in providing immigration advice and conducting casework, with the relevant Level 2/3 OISC qualification or equivalent (qualified solicitor)
Please note only candidates with the relevant OISC qualification (or equivalent) and legal experience will be considered.
We seek someone who is with strong caseworker skills, with a commitment to keep survivors at the centre of service delivery whilst also delivering on service targets. We are recruiting a Legal Assistant to provide administrative and legal support to PILC’s Gypsy and Traveller Legal Advice project which aims to defend and promote the rights of gypsies and travellers to pursue a nomadic way of life. You will assist our Supervising Solicitor, an expert in gypsy and traveller law, who has represented this underprivileged community over the last 15 years. As well as working on client files, you will liaise with the Legal Aid Agency to ensure their cases receive public funding, making sure documentation is prepared for court hearings, and arranging for experts and other participants to take part in proceedings.
Ideally you will be available to join us from the beginning of September to benefit from a full introduction by the incumbent.

Summary of role
Reporting to the Head of Communications and Engagement, this role will provide critical support during a busy period, until the end of 2024.

Overall purpose of role
Key responsibilities include:
1. Broad support to the Communications and Engagement team, including:

Helping draft content for the Alliance newsletter, website and social media.

Supporting delivery of online webinars and roundtables, managing registrations and following up on enquiries.

Completing due diligence checks on new membership applications.

Supporting the update of key membership information and presentations.

Supporting delivery of a participation roundtable of our members.

Supporting delivery of a youth campaign, providing project support and liaison with external stakeholders.
2. Event coordination tasks, including supporting the successful delivery of our 2024 Global Summit:

Maintaining events project plans and liaising across teams to ensure tasks, activities and deliverables are captured, up-to-date and accurate.

Collating content including delegate information packs, programme content and other collateral, liaising across the team and with Alliance members and external suppliers.

Tracking and monitoring enquiries about the Summit and coordinating responses.

Supporting in setting up of and managing event registration including responding to registration queries, processing registrations, monitor registrations and escalate queries as necessary.
The role will also provide occasional administrative support to the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer (~10% of the role’s time). This will include supporting diary management, booking travel, taking meeting notes, collating papers and briefs, and assisting with general administrative support on tasks, as required.
If time allows, the role may also be required to support other team projects across the Alliance Secretariat.

We are looking to recruit a Night Concierge to join our team based in Lewisham on a full-time, permanent basis. The Lewisham team provides an accommodation-based assessment and support service to clients with complex support needs. We provide housing and support for our clients who have a combination of substance use needs and other support such as mental health. We provide environments that consider the client's needs beyond treatment and housing. In line with St Mungo’s recovery approach, the service places the client’s aspirations at the heart of its work.
In this pivotal role you will provide overnight waking cover to ensure our residents are safe. You will be responsible for providing first contact and safeguarding our clients at night, including dealing with emergencies. Other responsibilities include carrying out regular health and safety checks, on patrol and through monitoring the CCTV system and various administration tasks. There is also an element of the role which will be ensuring the environment is kept to a high standard.
About you
The ideal candidate will have good communication skills and an understanding of the issues that affect vulnerable people. A good level of numeracy and literacy skills and the ability to use your own initiative are also required. Self-direction is particularly important in these roles as the successful candidate will be responsible, along with other night time colleagues, for delivering the service at night time without the physical presence of managers.
Flexibility is required as you’ll be working a shift rota that includes weekends and public holidays.
