You’ll be part of a cross-functional External Engagement team with a remit spanning communications, events, advocacy, fundraising and digital transformation. This role may at times include deputising for the Head of External Engagement.
You’ll be leading communications for a range of flagship projects working with a range of global partners, from the Commonwealth Partnerships for Antimicrobial Stewardship to the Health Equity for All Advocacy Campaign. You’ll play a critical role in an institutional rebrand, reflecting THET’s commitment to continually growing and adapting to the changing global health and international development landscape. The Waterways Ombudsman Scheme is in place to ensure the independent handling of complaints made against the Canal & River Trust and other navigation authorities. The Waterways Ombudsman is appointed by the Waterways Ombudsman Committee who oversee the working of the Scheme and the remuneration of the Ombudsman on an independent basis. The Waterways Ombudsman Committee is recruiting for a new Waterways Ombudsman. We are aiming for a July 2024 start date.
Waterways Ombudsman
Working part-time and in a location of your choosing, you will take responsibility for all aspects of the ombudsman scheme. This includes handling complaints from initial enquiry through to resolution, as well as managing relationships with, the Committee, and the Canal & River Trust and other navigation authorities, waterway organisations and the media. You will also be responsible for administrative elements of the scheme, such as managing the website and preparing the annual report. The job involves working flexibly around four to five days over a month at a rate of £600 per day, which is paid through the independent Waterways Ombudsman Committee.
We’re looking for someone with a solid understanding of how public or private sector ombudsman schemes work. If you haven’t gained direct experience within one already, then you will certainly have worked at a senior level within a legal environment, dispute resolution system or similar. Sound judgment and integrity are important, as are strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiating skills. You must also be able to work alone and in a highly autonomous way.

Stakeholder communications

Position summary
SAT-7 is currently looking to recruit a Development Officer to join SAT-7s Development Department.
The purpose of SAT-7 is to provide Christian television and digital media services to support the work and witness of the church in the Middle East and North Africa.
SAT-7’s Development department works with projects to address often controversial issues in the MENA region such as disability, discrimination, limited educational opportunities, women’s and children’s rights through the TV-programs and through on the ground partners.
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the activities of SAT-7 PARS, SAT-7’s Farsi speaking channel, including the drafting of fundraising proposals.
Summary of key responsibilities
- Development of fundraising proposals for SAT-7 PARS’ channel projects in cooperation with all relevant SAT-7 stakeholders
- Conduct frequent MENA context analysis with special focus on the situation for Christians, FoRB, women, children, disabilities, education etc.
- Monitoring and managing the correct implementation of the projects (scope, budget, schedule, quality etc.)
- Manage and ensure the necessary reporting of SAT-7 PARS projects carried out with restricted funds.

Qualifications and requirements
- Be sympathetic with and enthusiastic about the purpose and goals of SAT‑7.
- Relevant university degree is required e.g. Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Theology
- Knowledge of Middle East political, socioeconomics and religious issues is essential.
- Experience in project management, Communications for Development or/and Christian ministry, and the coordination of projects supported by restricted funds would be an advantage.
- Be a proficient communication writer able to express SAT-7’s Christian identity to corporate and statutory funders.
- Outstanding English writing/speaking skills.
- Experience in a similar position is considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of Farsi would be an advantage.
