Are you passionate about young people and ensuring everyone has equitable access to opportunities? Do you have a vibrant energy and experience to bring to our families and children? Then we could be looking for you to join our team of volunteers supportung families and young people in the North Kensington community.

As we ease out of lockdown, we are looking for volunteers to help on day trips in and around London to support families in getting back to normality again.

Trips will include anything from horse riding through to the beach, farms and Kew Gardens. This is an opportunity to help families in our community while gaining experience of working with a small, friendly and supportive charity.

Volunteers will help the group leader to accompany groups of parents/guardians and their children on a variety of cultural/fun trips, helping to make them feel welcome. 

Suitable volunteers will be reliable and sociable and enjoy working with children. Volunteers must be available for day trips during school holidays, as this is when most of the trips take place.

Volunteers receive a full induction, and support from the Children and Young People Coordinator. Travel expenses on the outings and any entrance fees are covered, and some further expenses can also be claimed.

IMPORTANT: An enhanced DBS check is required for this role, and so we are unfortunately only able to accept applications from UK-based applicants or British nationals living abroad.

To build and grow from our current strong position, we need to expand our Trustee Board - to complement the skills of our present Trustees and broaden our Board’s diversity.

Time commitment is one day per month during working hours.

Fundraising advisors wanted to support East London Waterworks Park in developing and implementing our fundraising strategy.

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

If you are a professional fundraiser and would like to help but are short on time, we would love to hear from you even if you are unable to get deeply involved. We would appreciate one-off or ongoing advice on the phone, online or in person. We would welcome feedback on our fundraising strategy and past applications, any advice about trust and grant fundraising, and any other advice you can give. 

The Fundraising Circle currently meets fortnightly on a Thursday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely. We understand that people may not have a lot of time to give, so we want to find volunteers who could give us one-off or ongoing strategic advice and support.

• Helping customers in the shop find what they need.

• Processing sales through the till and card machine, including Gift Aid. We provide full training but if you prefer not to use the till there are other tasks you can get involved with instead.

What we are looking for in a volunteer Charity Shop Assistant

• Friendly volunteers who are confident talking to people.
• Retail experience would be ideal but is not necessary as full training will be given.
• We are ideally aiming for someone who is flexible and can offer an ongoing commitment predominately 8 hours or more per week, help during weekdays is particularly welcome.
• Good communication and numeracy skills.
• Using the till is not essential, as you can help with other tasks.
• You will need to be aged 16 or over.
• Our induction is online and you will need basic IT skills and access to a computer. However, if you are unable to do this you may ask a friend to help you or we can arrange a paper-based induction instead.

Step Together Volunteering is a small but mighty charity. Through our unique, person-centred approach we support people to build the confidence and skills they need to look towards a positive future.

We work with young people, people in contact with the justice system, and the Armed Forces community, through 1-1 support, coaching and volunteering placements in the community. Our support doesn't have a time limit, we work with our clients until they have the confidence and skills they need to look forward to a more positive future.

We work nationally, our Head Office is Bristol, and our frontline staff are home-based in the regions they cover.

As a trustee, alongside your fellow board members you'll be responsible for the strategic leadership and administration of Step Together, and we're keen for you to contribute your perspectives and experiences to discussion. Alongside this, we'd specifically like you to:

• Provide expertise relating to the criminal justice system, and support to the rest of the Board and senior staff to ensure the charity operates a best practice model.

What are we looking for?

Your experience will ideally have been gained through professional work in the Criminal Justice Sector. This could be through employment within the Prisons or Probation Service, other Ministry of Justice role, Youth Justice teams, Police, or with another charity or agency working in the sector.

Good networks within the justice system in the southwest would be advantageous. You will be knowledgeable about the criminal justice sector, the role the voluntary sector plays, and the challenges faced by the different organisations working in the sector.

Ability to work at a strategic level is essential.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about the work that we do, and someone who is happy to advocate for and represent the charity to key stakeholders to help further our work and impact.

Recently we raised over half a million pounds through our Crowdfunder. Now we are looking to create a sustainable medium term income stream online.

Gulab Sorkh Foundation (GSF) is an independent charity supporting Afghan nationals resettled in the UK under the ARAP scheme. We are a small but impactful organisation, dedicated to helping those who worked closely with British forces in Afghanistan and their families integrate successfully into British life.

Job description

We are looking for two volunteer interpreters—one fluent in Dari and one fluent in Pashto — to join our team at the Gulab Sorkh Foundation (GSF). You will play a key role in supporting Afghan refugees who have resettled in the UK, assisting them in accessing essential services and communicating effectively in their daily lives.  This is an influential volunteer opportunity where you will make a real difference by helping Afghan refugees integrate into British society, providing crucial interpretation during interactions with service providers such as healthcare professionals, housing officers, and legal advisors.

As a Volunteer Interpreter, you will:

• Provide interpretation services (Dari or Pashto) to Afghan refugees, ensuring clear 
• communication between them and various UK service providers.
• Assist refugees in understanding key information related to housing, healthcare, 
• education, and other public services.
• Facilitate communication during meetings, appointments, and community events to 
• support their integration journey.
• Offer support and cultural understanding to ensure refugees feel comfortable and 
• respected throughout their resettlement process.

Key responsibilities:

• Interpret accurately and sensitively between Dari/Pashto and English during one-on-one 
• and group interactions.
• Help beneficiaries understand and complete necessary paperwork or official forms in 
• both languages.
• Collaborate with case managers and external partners to ensure the refugees’ needs are 
• effectively communicated.
• Be aware of and sensitive to the needs of individuals who may have experienced trauma 
• and displacement.
• Follow data protection laws and policies

Essential skills:

• Fluency (written and verbal) in Dari and/or Pashto and in English.
• A high level of cultural sensitivity and empathy towards Afghan refugees.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information clearly

• Ability to remain neutral and impartial in all interactions.
• Commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals and confidentiality.

Desirable skills:

• Level 3 in Interpretation.

• Understanding of the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) scheme.

Since 1988, Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust (PKHT) has worked collaboratively to preserve, enhance, and increase understanding of the historic environment of the area, through a wide remit encompassing historic building conservation and archaeology. 

PKHT achieved their objectives through the delivery of projects, the provision of grants, information, and advice, and through a programme of outreach and training activities. The Organisations current key projects include the transformative work of the Perth City Heritage Fund, and an exciting new programme of community archaeology which will aim to engage communities across all of Perth and Kinross. Their aims are to maintain and enhance sense of place; provide a learning resource for local communities; and to build sustainable economic development through improvements and events for both local residents and visitors. 

Perth and Kinross has a rich physical heritage of archaeological sites and historic buildings and PKHT is committed to delivering projects and activities that increase awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the historic environment for everyone. Supported by a range of funders, the outreach and learning activities are often delivered through funded projects such as the King’s Seat Hillfort Archaeology Project, while They also co-ordinate the Doors Open Days programme for the area.

Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust is currently seeking new trustees for their board and, to sustain their invaluable work, are inviting new board members, who have the right skills, experience, and time to take on the role effectively and impactfully, as well as sharing an affinity with their aspirations to safeguard local heritage and promote it to a wider audience.

The trust are keen to hear from people who have skills in buildings conservation, marketing and social media, legal and finance, IT and General Fundraising but would welcome expressions of interest from others who share a passion for what the area has to offer - and what is still to be uncovered. People who live further afield from the area are also encouraged to apply, especially if they bring similar experiences from further afield. The Trust is also keen to diversify its board and welcomes applications from younger candidates from a range of backgrounds.

In addition, candidates who are willing to progress to take on the Chair role are encouraged to apply. The current Chair has decided that following several years’ service it is now time to step back from this role. The PKHT board are keen to hear from any candidate who feels they have the skills and experience, and time available for the Chair role.
